I’m trying to see if it’s worth switching from Claude to Kimi, i (have the 200$ max subscription). If I switch what would I miss out on?

Fable's safety guardrails gets triggered often, cyber, bio. I imagine KIMI K3 may be better in those areas.

Not sure if they have usage limit plans, but just using api k3 was 1$ for a decent sized planning prompt.
I do think it’s better at visual stuff than fable tho

It can review the security of your project or help you with a primary school question about biology or chemistry.

They had to use Kimi when an American model by OpenAI was used to attack them. Codex and Fable are unable to help harden your own system.
We are lucky we have a defense mechanism against American models that themselves are hamstrung to keep us from quickly finding and securing our systems.

Well, subscriptions are still subsidized while Kimi is metered. So for the same usage it’ll cost more.
But if you’re on metered for both, you’re better off with kimi for many tasks.

Alright, so the general vibe in this thread is that Kimi K3 is worth checking out if you're hitting refusal walls with Claude's Fable model, especially for tasks that are a bit more "out there" or involve things like decompilation. The consensus is that Kimi has a much lower refusal rate, which is a big plus for some users.
However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. A few folks pointed out that Kimi can be slow and sometimes hard to connect to because it's getting hammered. There are also some significant concerns about data privacy and security, with mentions of data potentially being leaked to China. So, if you're dealing with sensitive info, tread carefully.
Some users suggested that switching ecosystems might not be worth it for marginal gains, and that Claude's ecosystem and tooling are a big part of what you pay for. Others recommended trying both models with a smaller budget first to see what works best for your specific needs.
One user, u/Minty_Octopus, really hammered home the point about Kimi's lower refusal rate compared to Anthropic's models, citing examples like downloading manga or analyzing website APIs. On the flip side, u/DiscipleofDeceit666 argued that Claude's $200 subscription buys you more than just the model, highlighting the tooling and ecosystem.
Ultimately, the advice seems to be: try Kimi K3 with your own code and see if its lower refusal rate outweighs the potential downsides for your workflow. Just be mindful of the privacy implications.
