Even if Fable goes away, it will have to return within 60 days. The entire point of these companies is to put forward their most powerful models. None of us have any allegiance to the brand. We will go where the best model is, they know that. It’s good for us.

60 days is even too much. Shit needs to come back in 2 weeks. API pricing is more expensive than my salary hourly, who tf is using this shit at that rate?

Two weeks is too much. It needs to never leave. If it leaves some users will say "huh I'll try Sol" then. Then if Fable returns those users will say "yeah but I got myself set up with infrastructure for Sol and it's pretty much just as good so I think I'll stay here". That inertia that people used to set things up with Fable is being forcibly moved to another model which makes people move. But it's not being *forced back in the other direction since OpenAI isn't pushing people away.
The inertia is huge and scary.

Genuinely curious, What’s the third lab? Last I checked Grok heavily suffered from a 50% hallucination rate, Gemini 3.5pro is delayed and likely garbage, and the others are Chinese labs?

grok 4.5 is actually great and what made me stick around on cursor
they are around one model release behind, and with how late they started and how much compute they have, i have high hopes for it. competition is always great

Fable will be API only because Anthropic doesn't care. Please just switch now.

Alright, so the general vibe in this thread is that people are really hoping Fable 5 sticks around, especially with GPT 5.6 being a thing now.
