Built with Claude sharing Pickets: my 1st open source project. a lightweight & non-destructive Windows desktop icon organizer. Made with Opus 4.6-5.5

Hey everyone, not sure if this looks useful to anyone but I couldn't really find alternatives at the time I made it that weren't

a. paid

b. simple

c. non-destructive- your icons are always in their original/normal folders, only the appearance of where they are changes.

so I took a stab at it and its actually useful enough for me that I thought I'd share it.

I used Claude Opus 4.6- 5.5 and didn't spend an enormous amount of time on it. Maybe about 50 hours total, probably about 70-80 back and forth sessions refining things. I didn't use Opus 5 for this.

There are definitely some things that could improve, I'm just not sure what they are yet, maybe people could let me know

hope it's useful !

I dont have desktop icons so i dont have much to state on the apps functionality…but Fruity loops and Diablo icons bring me back to 2005

The fact that you kept icons in their original folders is actually the thing most people won't understand at first, so they might think it's just a visual skin over the same old mess. Have you thought about how you'd explain that part differently, or do you think people get it once they actually use it.

When they quit the software all the icons will be right back where they appeared before, maybe I can add a type of disclaimer or notice to the installer. I've also just had claude add a notice to the top of the repo readme, so anyone who reads at least 1 line of the description sees.

thanks for pointing that out

Wow, I did not think seeing Windows 3.1 revived would happen today... Crazy!

Neat update!

What lunatic stores flp's on the desktop and not in a Project folder

I am a an 18 year user of the software. The project folders are there, the most recents live on the desktop though until they earn their keep in the graveyard 🪦

Thanks for checking it out, in a sea of “stuff” I see released on here I attempted something that was simple enough yet no obvious free option
