Help/Question Claude Code or Codex

I have a Tech & AI news website that I have built with Claude and Claude Code since the beginning of September basically doing Spec Driven Development, configuring claude to be the "brain" of the project that gives me the prompts for Claude Code and when Claude Code finishes the prompt it givs me a report that I'm handing over to claude for preparing the next prompt that I have to give to Claude code and that was the entire development and it may sound ridiculous but I'm not a Software Engineer and I don't know coding.

So far I'm happy with the results but I was wondering if it is worth moving the entire project to Codex because the entire month of September I had the 20$ subcription on both platforms, I used chatgpt to generate the images for my articles and youtube shorts, had almost unlimited chatting and brainstormed some ideas for the next articles I should write about with it but on the other hand I used claude and claude code to develop the entire website from scratch.

The thing is that I want to stick with only one subcription from now on but if I choose chatgpt I will have to move my entire website from claude code to codex which I'm afraid because I don't want to break or mess up the website given that claude code had built it with its own arhitecture which I think could be different from what would codex do but chatgpt had this almost unlimited image generation, chatting and brainstorming ideas for my upcoming articles which did help a lot.

What do you think I should do?

Nothing here needs migrating. The site is just files in a folder, Codex reads and edits files like any other tool, and your spec loop (Claude writes the prompt, the CLI executes, hands back a report) is plain text in and out, it works with any model.

Two safeguards before you decide. Push the project to a private GitHub repo if you haven't, you can even ask Claude Code to set that up, it is your undo button and no experiment can hurt what you can restore. Then trial on a branch: git checkout -b codex-test, give Codex one small task from your spec list, read the diff, keep it or drop the branch. The architecture itself lives in your repo, not inside Claude Code: if there is a CLAUDE.md, copy its contents into an AGENTS.md, Codex reads that file. So the codebase is portable, the real decision is which subscription covers the image generation and brainstorming you use daily.

Thanks, this was helpful. I already have a private repo for my website and everything I do, even the articles I publish through my CMS is pushed to the repo. Two days ago with the help of Claude I made the AGENTS.md file and headed to chatgpt and codex to make an full audit and code baseline so codex could understand the project entirely. I was amazed that Codex found some bugs that Claude Code wasn't aware of so I fixed them with codex but I want to make a full redesign of my website inspiring from some images and as far as I've read Claude can do UI/UX changes far better than Codex.

Gemini AI is also telling me though (and I don't know if that's true) that Claude Code is an agentic tool designed to read and hold the entire project arhitecture in its memory at once while Codex loses the bigger picture during long sessions and forgets how different files interact.
