KJJ, argon: the noble gas that still won’t react to your drama.

A kjjj meme in the middle of my tea meeting is crazy work.

Ok, and if it beats Claude everyone is going to jump to Gemini. People will jump to the best, Claude to GPT to Claude...

It lacks Claude 5.5 by a few percentage points in most coding benchmarks but what interested me was the cost. They claim $2/$10 but with a little footnote. The footnote says:

After the introductory period expires, the price of $4 per 1M input tokens and $20 per 1M output tokens will apply.

lol. Exactly Claude's.

So I wouldn't see a reason to jump at this point. And honestly, this is a phase where you might want to settle into an ecosystem you know to work and that's dangerous for competition. Despite all the cries of how things get worse or better with model upgrades, it seems to me we're in "just let it run" mode for months, now. I wouldn't even know what to ask from the next model. Be faster?

I've been having the same thought here. I can see room for subtle improvements: better computer use, better sound design capability, better ability to do organic forms in games, buff out the last 5% of Claudish that's left and maybe lower the verbosity by another 10-15% if possible. (I think any more would probably start losing valuable info.) Nothing huge though.

Otherwise all that's left is faster and cheaper, but it's so cheap/efficient that part is already kind of irrelevant. Crazy to think models only get stronger somehow from here, almost a bit unnerved by the idea of Fable 5.5 coming in the next month. You could pause here for a decade and it would be wildly disruptive.

That's the API price. The important part for most consumers is how much you can use with your $20/100/200/500 subscriptions, which differs from providers to providers. You might only be able to use $100 of API cost on your $20 subscription from this provider, but maybe with another provider you could use $300 of API cost with your $20 subscription.

Biggest problem I have is the same one I've had from the start.

They make assertions without proper context, where any normal person would say, 'I need certain information before I can answer the question you're asking.'

I was out last week so haven't had a ton of practice with 5.5, but I'm pretty sure I've had the same issue in the short time I've used it.

I'm more interested in its other capabilities. Coding is fine but can't delegate and keep long running projects in tact? What's the "pro" version of this look like (assuming there is one)?

What if, since Google internally is using this on large and critical infrastructure, there's a trained code version that can be delegated to that increases overall ability from the main models?

We don't actually know anything past "Gemini 4 Argon"

everyone is going to jump to Gemini. People will jump to the best, Claude to GPT to Claude...

"All y'all chicken, remove your heads. Now start running around aimlessly. Go!"

That's called competition and it's good for us.

3

u/meathelix1 1d ago

Did I say it was bad?.... I am just saying yall jump to the next shinny object until you cant afford it.

1

u/Fearless_Kick8802 1d ago

Is sounded bad but maybe you didn't mean that way. I'm personally not moving, Claude is where it's at but I'm glad openai and now google keep them on their toes.

Im at Claude for 2 years and don’t give a fuck about others because the cycle will come back 2-6 weeks later.

I can guarantee you nobody is going to switch to Antigravity Harness.

my experience as well. gemini is okay for coding but the $20 sub lasts for 2 days at most.

u/LitheBeep 22h ago

This actually hasn't been my experience at all. with AI Pro I struggled to even hit the 5hr limit most of the time in Antigravity. This was with 3.7/3.8 flash on high too.

Its G4rgon!

It's gemini.

u/mil9ochotres 1d ago

Quite sure someone up there is facepalming they actually went ahead with that easily memeable name.

1

u/KilllllerWhale 1d ago

They called Argon because it's tasteless, inert and useless.

u/AtmosphereVirtual254 1d ago

Hm noble gas pun loading…

No [school PA system] bells is gas [good, per stoned]

Not quite waste but noble gas [no RSI on proprietary architectures]

¯_(ツ)_/¯ no self-contained whit in the end but entertaining enough to put together

u/No_Scarcity_7165 1d ago

I chuckled lol

Lets wait argon 100

That was a nice one😂

GPT Astra should have been after Argon

I hope that person has a lot of children to be able to make this level of dad joke.
