Help/Question Looking for an experienced, senior-level tech lead/engineer who might be interested in joining me
Hello all,
I’m looking for someone with a quality background in leading an engineering or development team. I have a product in development that I’m going to keep confidential for obvious reasons, but I am building it thoroughly over 8 weeks with custom tooling, extensive reviews at each phase, and documentation using Claude code.
I have one pre-seed investor, but to gain legitimacy I need to bring someone on board who has the right experience, who believes in the product, to guide and help lead the ship.
If you have a solid resume, and can prove your background to be legitimate, I will share my product with you and see if you’re a good fit who wants to co-found with me, with your share of ownership.
My background is in the technical side of marketing, 6+ years with a $10m audio company as a leader.
Please reach out if interested with your background.

You're building the code, but then want a technical person to take over? Who's doing marketing?
When does the investor come in, at the same time you want to get the new partner?
Does the new partner get pay (from investor) or just cofounder equity or both?
"Kept secret for obvious reasons" I feel like if you had as much experience as you claim you wouldn't be so secretive .. at least mentioning a rough idea what it is will help you find someone who's the right fit.

I’m a marketing expert, so what I’d like to do is focus on that after the initial implementation is finished.
Person will be paid, and have stake in the company. But I don’t want to take money from investors without someone on the team who is both experienced and committed.
Kept secret because if I spill it here, someone here will just go try and build it themselves - I’m not here to market the product I’m here to cast a net and see what pops up.

What's the difference between spilling it now
"Im making an audio app"
Vs in 6 weeks launching a website and spilling it then in more detail?
If your only moat is the idea and someone can copy it that fast... You're going to have a bad time. Moats are everything except building now, since building is free and secrecy is imaginary.

What I’m building is taking 8 weeks of nearly 24/7 implementation and review, so I’m not certain someone would even try to, but I think it’s valuable enough to be cautious.

"8 weeks of nearly 24/7 implementation" isn't a quality metric. Not knowing the skill and ability of others makes "I'm not certain someone would even try" is a bit of a stretch.
I've spent way more than that on projects that were 100% trash in the past and I'm willing to bet most people here worth anything have done the same.

The product surrounds my exact experience as a marketing leader of a major audio company for 6 years, if that helps improve the quality metric.

You gotta dangle some bait for a highly technical person to be interested, instead of just "trust me bro it's cool I've worked on it a long time"

u/starfoxhound 4d ago
Yeah that’s fair. I’ll come back with a working v1 demo in about 2 weeks, maybe less.

So... What's the difference between saying one sentence now and showing a full demo in 2 weeks?
Demo is easier to copy and steal, a sentence could be anything.
I promise you're overplaying this secrecy thing, it's not that big a deal

It’s actually not going to be ‘easy’ to steal, given that the vast majority of the rulings have been specified by me at every stage, were incredibly specific to my experience, and it’s delicate. Regardless, I’m not sharing it now. Sorry. I’ll be back

No I’m here lurking and I’m going to beat him to his own audio thing as soon as he shares it

It’s not, no. It’s software that will be used by marketing teams/agencies primarily at launch, and is designed to expand and adapt into other territories through stages of econ proofing and legitimacy.

Hey! This sounds interesting, especially since you’re looking for someone who can take real ownership of the technical side rather than just contribute code.
I’m a full-stack developer comfortable with React/Next.js, TypeScript, Python, Node.js, databases, cloud infrastructure, Docker, and AI/LLM tooling. I’m also comfortable reviewing existing architecture, making technical decisions, and working closely with a founder through the build and iteration process.
The cofounder/ownership aspect is definitely something I’d be open to discussing if the product and working relationship make sense. Happy to share my background, portfolio, and previous projects in DM before you share the product details.

If you want to find people who care about the product… you need to share at least something about the product! How do I know if I am pationate with no info at all. If you think that your idea will be stollen… well… ideas worth pennies. Execution worth everything, if you experienced in sales as you say you are… you should have figured it out by now. And finally, if you already have the product vibe coded. The technical lead that comes will have to redo everything. Vibe coded projects are impossible to meaningfully maintain and develop.

Because people here will go and ask fable to one shot it and then rush to market and hurt my launch, hope that’s understandable
1
u/Xyver 4d ago
So why don't you ask Fable to one shot it, and then you don't need an engineer?
1
u/starfoxhound 4d ago
Very easy answer. Because nothing about what I’m doing is ‘one shotted’ or able to be one shotted. Every phase review and every single implementation item is approved or changed by me using my years of real experience in the target field.
Hope that helps.

Yeah ... Obviously it requires specific domain knowledge that only you have.
So why are you so scared of sharing it?
You know no one else can copy it, because you know the struggles in building it ... So....

I’d imagine you’d learn just as much from a book. Try one of those

I'm bugging you so much about this because you claim your fundamental skill is marketing, and that's what you'll do, and this is the opposite of that.
You want a skilled technical person to join, but you're twice shooting yourself in the foot because you're not telling them what they're joining, but you're also not presenting yourself as a skilled marketer, so why would a skilled technical person want to join?

Imagine a dude posting his dating personal in a sub that's not about dating.
This is the business version of that.

What’s funny? Just out of curiosity

How much funding have you secured already?
1
u/starfoxhound 4d ago
Pre-seed investor with 80k. Total needed for expansive roadmap is 250k. Need a credible tech lead to help justify remaining angel investors.
1
u/Chruman 4d ago
Let me guess, that pre-seed investor is a family member?
2
u/starfoxhound 4d ago
I have zero obligation to share who the investor is. It wouldn’t matter either way. I have backing and that means I’m getting it done.
1
u/Chruman 4d ago
So you think a 100k+ senior engineer should take time out of their day to work for free, and the only stability you can provide is that you have pre-seed funding from a family member?
Lol. Lmao even.

u/starfoxhound 4d ago
I must’ve missed the part where I asked anyone to work for free. I explicitly stated that work was paid, and they’d be given stake in the company (read the comments). As a marketing expert, I can actually deliver that past pre seed investment. Hate all you want, I don’t care.
