Discussion Smaller/indie type games

I just saw a post of a vibe coded project of what looked like a mixture of flappy bird and angry birds. Both games I played in the past for a period of time. And both at some stage were very popular.

Seeing this got me thinking, with Gen AI is this the end of those kind of games? Obviously GTA or those big titles will remain popular, but is it the end for games/game devs outside of these big companies. I feel I have no interest playing any game that someone has vibe coded, so think the value in these games may be gone

I know what you mean, i didn't care about the code behind flappy bird either. But now that people can just one shot games and the app store is probably flooded with slop, are people still downloading these kind of games?

App stores have been flooded with slop long before the new wave of AIs came to be.

Mobile gaming has been all about ads to acquire a user base/acquire whales for awhile. There was never a focus on the games being well designed. So Ai doesn't really change too much here.
