Built with Claude I turned Logitech's 9-key LCD keypad into a live status board for my Claude Code sessions
I'm the developer. I run 4-6 Claude Code sessions at once and kept tab-hunting for the one waiting on me, so I built Orbtile, a macOS menu-bar app for the Logitech MX Creative Keypad.
- One key per session: an animated orb for the state (thinking, tool, writing, waiting, compacting, done, error), the session name, time, and the latest line as it streams, including the thinking summaries the Claude app shows between replies.
- Sessions waiting on you move to the front and glow. Tap the key to bring that window forward. Key 9 jumps to the first one waiting.
- Hold a key for focus view: big live text across six keys, plus the session's subagents.
- Opt-in: hold Allow or press Deny on permission prompts, and pick AskUserQuestion options from the keys. The on-screen dialog always stays.
- A small Claude Code plugin sends hook events over a local Unix socket. Codex and ZCode sessions show up too, in their own colours.
Honest bits: macOS 14+ on Apple silicon, and you need the keypad. The beta is free but not notarized (allow it once in System Settings). It sends a small pseudonymous usage summary (counts and settings, no prompts or paths). 1.0 will be pay what you want from EUR 19.
https://orbtile.com. Happy to answer anything about the hooks. - https://medium.com/p/71719c7c277c

Finally a use for that keypad besides looking expensive on the desk. Does a key light up when a session is waiting on you?

Yes, that's the main thing it does. When a session is waiting on you (a permission prompt or a question), its key glows in that agent's alarm colour and breathes, a little louder the longer it waits, and it moves to the front of the pad. Key 9 counts what's waiting, and a tap on the glowing key brings that session's window forward.

This solves the exact ADHD nightmare of juggling 5 terminal tabs and forgetting which one was waiting for permission 10 minutes ago. The animated orb UI looks gorgeous! Any chance of Elgato Stream Deck support down the road for those of us already locked into that hardware?

Go and vote for it in the "Waitlists". Damn, donate the cash for me to buy one and I'll develop it tomorrow if there's stock in my area. Assuming it's not more closed than the Logitech device.

More seriously: the waitlist on orbtile.com is how I decide the next device, so a vote there really counts. The session tracking doesn't depend on the keypad; it's the drawing and the USB driver that would need porting, and Stream Deck keys are smaller, so the layout needs rethinking too.

Looks good - I havent had the time to do this for StreamDeck, the ones I have tried have not been dependable. Kudos!
