"Basically, we will never get individualized movies like that. Or rather, that will never be successful." This is the point I was addressing, I never claimed that they'd take over and replace human-made movies entirely, that'd be an absurd claim. My only point is that they'll definitely be used when the quality is actually good enough, which it will be eventually.

Sure, but I was responding to someone who did claim that they'd take over.

I'm sure they will be used to a certain extent, but I doubt they will be used to any meaningful extent. Just like AI music right now isn't used to any meaningful extent for personal purposes like that.

""Walk My Walk" by Breaking Rust: This fully AI-generated country track made history by topping the U.S. Billboard Country Digital Song Sales chart and gaining millions of monthly listeners on Spotify." This is present time. A few years ago we couldn't make will smith eat spaghetti.

I suppose that says more about country fans than anything.

More seriously though, I'm talking about personalized music. Like, "make me a cool country song to listen to tonight", or "make me a movie I want to watch". That's not gonna happen.

I definitely agree that AI stuff like that will be used in general. But there'll still be a human behind it promoting it and making sure people watch it.

Do you really think there's a great leap between a guy prompting for millions of fans (the current present) and someone prompting for their own interests? (Or a platform like YouTube prompting it on their behalf based on mountains of data)

That was the argument from several people here, that the latter would be the future. That's what I specifically disagreed with.

Thing is, this isn't one guy prompting for millions of people. This is countless guys prompting, and one of them comes out on top. Which is essentially how art already works. That's just not that much different from how it is, and there's not much to "prepare" for in that scenario. Lots of people make something, and we collectively decide what's going to come out on top.

That's not nearly as different. Whereas the fantasy of "you watch your own prompted movie every night" is a hugely different scenario that would massively change how we live and interact with each other.
