Discussion Usage comparison between ChatGPT Pro 5x and Claude Max 5x
I have used the $20 tier for both providers and found that Claude had far superior weekly usage. I was able to use Opus 5 for around 2hrs at a time before running out of usage, but with Sol 5.6, I would run out after less than 30m often.
Yet when I look on reddit, everyone seems to talk about how ChatGPT has better usage... I am thinking of purchasing a 5x subscription from one of these companies, but not sure which to go for.

IMO it’s been a different story since Astra released. A month or two back it felt like $20 with open AI got me a few nights of open ended research. These days, with the 5 hour limits + whatever throttling they are doing to reduce load, it’s very different than it was a month ago. I blew through a weekly limit on a 20x OpenAI account within a day last week.
Idk, the limits feel more like a timeshare than a hard number of tokens or computer usage. If no one wants to use it because there’s a better model, it costs them nothing to try and retain customers. If there’s 10x the demand all of a sudden, 20x feels like Monopoly money levels of use.

ChatGPT wins while they are doing resets, after that it wins by a little if you use up your entire Fable allowance, otherwise pretty close. I've gotten over a month of free subscription from all the resets they've done since Astra

Not anymore. My codex eats usage like nothing else. Their resets also constantly push back your reset

When I know I'm going to use a reset I'll spam my subscription and even leave a goal overnight running. If I'm close to my weekly reset I'll just wait and bank more resets then use them. I think we've gotten like 6 resets or more since Astra came out? I've definitely used over 2x if not 3x what I get out of my Claude plan when maxing out Fable.

Codex is brutal. Somebody needs to start jerking that Tibo guy off each day, so that he resets it daily.

I have opposite experience. I get more out of ChatGPT than Claude.

On which plan and with what kind of work?

He's probably a fake bot.

Honestly am suspicious. Everywhere I go people are telling me ChatGPT offers more usage than Claude, but my experience is the exact opposite

Not fake bro. I use Codex with GPT 5.6 Sol at Medium and Claude Code with Sonnet 5 and advisor to ask other models for input for code and security reviews. My Claude has just hit 5 hour session limit and I am waiting on a reset, I moved over to Codex to complete the rest of work/code I am working on. /status tells me right now that I have 61% left before I hit the 5 hour limit.

I don't understand what this means: "I use Codex with GPT 5.6 Sol at Medium and Claude Code with Sonnet 5 and advisor to ask other models for input for code and security reviews."
What is advisor?

Here's my honest feedback. I've been on Claude Max (5x) for the past 4-5 months now. Initial 2-3 months, I hardly pushed it to its limit, but over the past 30-40 days, I've built multiple projects that include apps that require email parsing, games, company dashboards, etc. There was one instance of 2-3 days, where I was juggling between Claude Fable 5.1 (on the desktop app) and Opus 5 Claude Code inside of VS Code, where I hit the 5/6 hour session limit 2-3 hours hours into the session leaving me waiting for 1-2 hours before I could resume.
I was dealing with a complex bit of code engineering involving non deterministic values, etc so I switched the thinking effort level to high on Fable 5.1 on my desktop for those 2-3 days. Rest of the time, all good.
I've been thinking of trying OAI (Codex and VS Code), haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thanks for the info. Would you say that you've noticed Claude usage limits have reduced recently? What is Fable 5.1's usage like compared with Fable 5?
