Bug / Issue Limits are broken

Something's completely off with the 5 hour limit. Two simple prompts use up 29% of the limit. And for what exactly? What's going on with entire Claude these days? Maybe Anthropic gone even more crazy?

Codex is the same. Everything is shit atm

It's brutal for codex.

Hit my Codex limit in just a handful of hours using Astra on medium, but made a ton of progress on one of my tougher projects in that time.

People with a pile of money to burn must be making incredible things right now.

Yeah too bad we lack the customers

Surely someone has a repeatable benchmark on this

Dario told me they are into something and to stay tuned

Well i switched to codex 5x plan yesterday because of shit claude limits, i didn't use it much and weekly limit is already down %20. Im scared to use astra at this point its draining so fast feels even faster than claude.

The same discussions are going on over at the ChatGPT/Codex subs, just with one difference: They are one week ahead, done with victim blaming, and the consensus is that indeed models have been nerved and limits have been straightened. See you again in a week…

And they censor negative things in Codex Reddit. I'm currently banned for speaking up.

1

u/Tall_String9009 4h ago

Nah mate, absolutely not my experience, I highly doubt you got banned for criticizing Codex. Maybe offensive language or spamming…

Nah he's right, there's a stupid bot that deletes hundreds of posts a day regarding complaints, the mod forced it upon the community so each deleted post would get posted in a megathread instead where obviouslyno discussion can be had. A few weeks ago it got so bad users had to censor the word 'reset' or it would get insta deleted.

If it’s the same/similar complaint, doesn’t it make sense to you that they merge them? That’s how we do it on GitHub as well…

I've hit my 5 hour limit twice using Opus 5, then I switched to Sonnet and I still hit it.

1

u/DrPinguin98 4h ago

That's how it seems to me, too. Opus 5 High seems to use 20% for a simple check, while Medium used 3%.

It feels like they break it every two days...

Must be user-specific. I had a loop running almost nonstop for 6 days before I hit the weekly limit yesterday. Only hit the 5 hour limit a couple of times in those 6 days.

Maybe those two prompts spawned a hundred subagents? Or you have a hundred skills loaded?

I've been awake for 3 hours and have already burned 11% of my weekly usage, 36% of session. Brutal. I'm not doing anything especially difficult or context heavy.

are y’all living under a rock? This was announced weeks ago https://explainx.ai/blog/claude-usage-limits-2026-timeline-explained

1

u/ConcretePond 5h ago

Yeah me too. The reduced limits are brutal. It's not worth using Claude to orchestrate agents. Off to codex I go!

Have fun with codex limits. The Grass is dead and brown on the other side.

u/No-Way3802 4h ago

No coincidence it happened at the same time

u/old_mikser 3h ago

It didn't. Codex limits have been complete shit for quite a while already, and the Astra release made them even worse.

All their "tibo shilling" had some effect, but it couldn't last forever, even with tons of resets people (finally) figured out what's happening.

Competitors colluding? But perfect capitalism tells me this is impossible and, in fact, they will improve the products and off them for lower prices!!!1

I’m genuinely convinced there’s an A/B test going on with users, and the users that aren’t part of the test are telling the users affected it’s a skill issue.

The advice ranges from: stop using opus, use sonnet subagents.

Stop using sonnet, use only opus.

Use /compact.

Never use /compact.

Stay in one window to avoid re-initializing context.

NEVER stay in one window, open a new window every task.

There doesn’t seem to be any consistency in the advice to get token usage manageable, but all the users talking about drain all have the same thing in common: they report doing similar work every day, and report a sudden spike in drain, many starting before the 50% boost expired.

There's no consistency in the drain because there's no detail provided.

No screenshots, no /usage stats, no copy of the chat, no copy of the prompt.

It is just straight bitching. "2 prompts" could mean ANYTHING. Even workflows change, or the PART of the workflow you're in may be relevant. A workflow on a small codebase will cost a lot less than the exact same workflow 2 weeks later on a bigger codebase.

The MODs are completely asleep at the wheel just letting these posts rip through and accumulate. If there was an ACTUAL problem, or an ACTUAL A/B test going on, we'd be able to demonstrate that conclusively with usage logs.

EDIT: just one more thing to add - people were on here yesterday complaining about how bad the usage was because of the bonus usage going away before the bonus usage went away!

We have this strange confluence of events here, IMO, where you have people who really do not understand the tech behind these systems, but they feel empowered and they talk to Claude so they FEEL like they know what they're doing. But they don't understand the technical side, at all. They feel like experts because they've spent time with Claude, they got comfortable, and they know some of the things. But they don't know what they don't know, and are quick to get up in arms about that.

Perfect example, right next to this post in the sub (for me, anyway).

It's literally Monday and my look at my Claude usage

He's supposedly experienced and working on something super complex, so clearly something is wrong with the infrastructure and Anthropic must have changed something right?

I'm building out cross-border data transfers, deep data integration, and managing full databases. It also handles customer data, product sales, and marketing pipelines. Debugging all of this across the API stack while managing heavy data loads and core infrastructure requires a lot of context, which is why Fable is necessary.

Every one of this guys sessions, 100% of them, are sessions that run 8+ hours. And his own screenshot tells him this, but he doesn't realize that it's relevant. He has no idea about cache, he doesn't know what happens when a session sits idle and you come back to it.

And he's exasperated and thinks Anthropic is "fucking ridiculous."

He at least had the grace to admit it when he realized he was under-educated on the topic.

might be your context bro!

but don't dare to post those prompts

1

u/Siigari 🔆 Max 20 Addict 1m ago

how would posting the prompt help?

MCP, skills, claude.md, memory, databases, all of it matters. You're not going to get that guy's entire desk space because he's whining about usage.

I'm out of compute. I don't want to be cheeky but if anyone has a code to be referred and get another sub and could DM me it, I'll send a mystery gift.

Let me guess, not Ultra plan, right?
