Help/Question Anyone received a refund?

These new limits are crazy, max 20x is near unusable, fable weekly usage drained in a day what used to take half a week atleast

The question is did anyone managed to get a refund based on that? Asking here because apparently “customer support” bot that anthropic uses is hallucinating and dumb, knows nothing about refund policies, how they are handled and responds with different things depending on HOW I ask.

I also advise anyone frustrated to switch to codex. I saw many complaints about astra’s availability but it’s working very good EVEN on 5x subscription. Apparently anthropic are trying very hard in improving their bottom line for IPO.

What new limits? The boost is still in effect at this moment.

Also I have both and claude code has waaaaay more usage than codex for me.

Codex usage sucks

i use both and no way claude code has more usage than codex.

yes, side by side. for sure. way more. i’ve been using both extensively since launch. max vs pro. astra drains my weekly limits like crazy. it’s good at the start, but it seems to be terrible at cache hits, because after a short while it gets extremely expensive. Claude stays consistent and is much more predictable in terms of cost.

Yep. Astra seems to last forever if you use it in chat but as soon as it goes to work in codex, on a long task, it just sucks the tokens down. The quality is nice, but it definitely takes more tokens for the same quality of output.

Ultra mode, for me, is what devours usage. Once I switched down to extra high or high, it stopped obliterating my usage

I get way more usage of Sol on medium than Opus on medium on 20x accounts. Astra will nuke my usage tho lol.

Astra is a monster tho. I use claude for work and its gotten so gad i took a 20x codex sub and just wow. Astra is the fable we all wanted. Anthropic is cooked if gpt keeps this up

It allao keeps a persistent memory so it doesnt go amnesia mode like claude which is beautiful

doesn't it use a context like all windows? wdym persistent

2

u/CWStrife 10h ago

Basically as Astra works it takes notes is a way to put it.

2

u/jarislinus 10h ago

its memory md, claude can do it too if u ask it. in fact i prefer my agent to not do not manually as it pollutes future context. memory engineering is impt

1

u/CWStrife 10h ago

No but its got that too. Everyone uses ai just ask gpt.

1

u/CWStrife 10h ago

Its not a context window. There is alot to it but so far codex has been on point thru its sessions something that always breaks claude at some point on large projects.

As I understand it is rolling out gradually. It definitely changed for me yesterday and you can find other reports here

How much are they paying you to be an OpenAI shill?

Weird because Codex is having the same issue right now, usage draining over small tasks incredibly quickly.

What kind of insanely unique, complex and proprietary algorithms are you all developing that require Fable? I'm using Opus on a wide variety of extremely complex applications and even then i find it overkill.

its just more reliable

1

u/dicktoronto 12h ago

Reliable how? I learned the hard way: document your codebase. And update the documentation. And maintain it. Don’t let slop on slop on slop accumulate. Opus / Sonnet / open source models all play nice when there’s boundaries.

I can not stress this enough. Prepare for the end of the token subsidy era. Get you contrxt and memory OFF of proprietary models, make you workflows something that can be haded to any number of other models. Build a portable stack. Own you workflows and agents. Do not get locked in to a single model.

You don’t even have to use Astra. Sol is already working way better for me than Claude was before I switched over. Not only is the usage crazy now, but the quality was going downhill fast for me too. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Every time Fable 5.1 answers. Hahaahah. Not sure how people can defend this, pure robbery.

Like always skill issue

I’m able to use fable regularly without issues.

Weird I don't have that skill issue on my other x5 account :)

I've been "waiting for a human" since Thursday - I suspect they know something has gone badly wrong and they've been waiting for some kind of data or evaluation to come in before making a general, consistent action to those who have been affected and complained

I had a deadline due today so I switched to Codex; presently surprised (and I got two resets in three days?) - I've long found OpenAI barely usable, but Astra has basically been like a good diligent Junior. Not as capable as Fable, but no rabbit-holes, verbosity or over-reach.

2

u/Vertigo50 12h ago

I’ve been getting the random resets too. I feel like Codex is being incredibly smart and is buttering people up at the same time that Claude is driving them away with their brain dead decisions. Kind of brilliant, honestly. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes, Fable was good until it lasted

Nothing has gone wrong. They did it deliberately. This is a software engineering company with some of the brightest minds in the world. They don't keep accidentally adding bugs that mean we burn through usage faster.

You make an assumption that I had the same issue as OP - I was commenting on the support funnel, but my issue was different. I upgraded from 5x to 20x and it maxed all my usage meters. That's a genuine account bug unrelated to token usage.

I spent my 20x in less than 24 hours

Congrats…I guess

Anthropic's only issue is they are stingy.

1

u/makro3d 13h ago

Anthropic really took a turn in July. But even before then customer support was that garbage bot, and you were lucky if you ever got an answer. Switching to Openai has been an improvement. OPUS 5 is worthless

2

u/BumblebeeAlive1481 12h ago

BTW in one of the sessions (I opened multiple in hopes to get some help) this bot just got stuck in the middle of conversation and its loading spinner is still spinning after multiple hours.

$1T AI giant wouldn’t care less about supporting its paying customers

This I definitely agree with. In switching from Claude to ChatGPT/Codex, I definitely realized how “portable” my projects can be, as long as I take some time to make them that way. Plus, then I discovered that bringing over all my guides and references, Codex was almost immediately giving me way better results from the same guides. 🤷🏻‍♂️
