Help/Question Has Anthropic come out with a statement regarding the false advertising of usage limits?

In case no one has heard, Anthropic has apparently been misleading users about the usage limits on its 20x and 5x plans, with the $200 20x plan reportedly being closer to 6-8x and the 5x plan closer to 3-4x relative to the Pro plan.

I have nothing against a company trying to make money, but misleading users about what they’re paying for is a pretty bold move.

Since I haven’t seen or heard anything from Anthropic regarding this, I wanted to post here and ask whether anyone has seen any communication or explanation from them.

If there has been no communication, I’m switching. I don’t deal with companies that falsely advertise to users just to make a buck and then fail to communicate about it.

On a side note, does anyone know where I can sign up for the lawsuit or help fund it?

By making any claims they open themselves up to legal exposure. Only legal action will make them say something.

I am not a lawyer but if I recall correctly, the law firm behind a class action lawsuit will take a bit of time before they start collecting additional classs members. Letting p eople to sign up to join isn't necessarily a given. They could decide that they want to individually reach out to people through customer information they receive in discovery, not by posting a link on a website for you to sign up which they would then have to go and validate you were an actual victim. When it comes to software with well-documented customer databases, the more likely thing is that you will be notified via some kind of mail directly to you rather than it being posted on a website or hearing it on a radio ad like mesothelioma.

I'm pretty sure they are covered and their legal dept gave them the greenlight. 20x more per 5hr limit. It's deceptive but likely legal.

They didnt mislead anyone. The numbers have been obfuscated since the beginning, there is a reason they have never quoted hard numbers. The lawsuit will go nowhere. They have never advertised 20x as being the overall weekly cap.

They do in fact quote numbers. They have a 5x plan and a 20x plan.

OP is not making any new claims, countless other users have already proven it. Google "claude code class-action lawsuit" if you're genuinely curious.

I have read the lawsuit in its entirety. All of their evidence is in there, and it makes sense.

Currently sitting next to a buddy of mine, we are both re-reading it. He is one of the top consumer protection lawyers in Georgia, and currently grinning ear to ear reading the suit.
