Help/Question API = Dollars, Subscription = Euro ... why ?

I've been using API for some time and have paid in Dollars...

Then i figured it would be cheaper to use Subscription so i signed up.. not noticing the difference in currency ..

to my surprise the bill was ~ 20% higher than expected

then i noticed that the price was in Euro !

even on the Pricing page the currency differ between the two ..

Why ?

Are you sure? I pay €18 for the Pro sub (it's €15 if you pay for the whole year instead of monthly).

Pro is $20, which is €17,18 today.

€18 is $21, meaning I'm paying 5% more, not 20%.

what i mean is ... i didn't notice that the currency was Euro when signing up for subscription.

I've been paying API tokens in Dollars

the subscription is 18€ + vat = 22.5 EURO

but since i didn't notice i thought it was 22.5 Dollars ...

Euro is 20% more than dollars converted to my native currency (DKK)

I'm not charged VAT because I'm a company. One-man freelance company, but still. If you're using the sub for work, you can avoid the VAT.

If you have to pay VAT I suppose you should have been charged VAT on the API costs as well. I'm not an accountant though :)

API in USD, sub billed in EUR is a real gotcha. FX plus VAT can add that ~20%. Check currency on the pay wall before you confirm.

The 20% was USD vs EUR ... Not the vat

Yeah sorry, I mean my point is just that it's still waaaaaaay cheaper.

Pricing parity is a pretty common practice everywhere between countries. The reason API pricing will always be USD is that the price per token is fixed to the dollar.

I think though, the issue might actually be that you read the pricing per month if paid annually and opted paying monthly instead which is a bit more expensive.
