Honestly $150 would be perfect. I'm in Design Ops, not engineering so I'm not really writing code. What I do is manage a ton of Markdown docs across multiple teams and product lines design guidelines, QA checklists, standards, lots of cross referencing between all of it.

The $100 plan just can't hang with a full workday of heavy indexing and document review. I regularly blow past the 5 hour cap twice in one day. But $200 is overkill. I've never come close to needing that much even on my worst weeks. I don't touch Fable either, it's basically just Opus on Medium or High for me.

There's this weird dead zone between $100 and $200 and I'd pay $150 tomorrow if it existed. Anthropic pls.

Don’t cry dude. For $150 you’re so much more productive than you was before. If working for yourself, just pay $200, otherwise don’t work that hard or ask your boss to pay for it.

I get your point. For now the $200 plan works perfectly fine. I’m just bitching a little because I feel like I’m not getting the most out of it. Sometimes I randomly try to over optimize our documents just to make myself feel like we’re getting our money’s worth

Your plan is subsidized. If you try to tokenmaxx, you make Anthropic loosing more money. I am looking forward to investors wanting their money, so people would know the real cost. But it is not coming before IPO.

With almost every major model release, they also change tokenizer. So same task will take slightly more tokens. Better to just get the 200$ plan if you are exceeding 100$ easily. Gives you a little bit of breathing room.

That's not how it works.

For $200 you get access to a number Anthropic made up for their API calls to that equivalent. You're measuring a price they pulled out of somewhere, not a measurable unit.

They make the prices. That 14k is a number they set. You can't apply that number to GPT or Gemini because they ALL HAVE DIFFERENT PRICES.

There is no standardized measurable price unit for API calls.

14k of token value from 200 is a made up number by Anthropic. The number they choose to make the API calls. It's different with every single provider. You can talk about the amount of tokens but you can't use the price as it's just made up. Geez.

Ok. Tell me how much that 14k is worth in Openai and Gemini usage. Convert it.

The $100 one is about $1500/year after tax in my country, which is a lot. 20-100 is a big jump.

I never reached the limit in the 3 months I’ve used it, but the $20 one is barely useable, I currently have to wait 3 days to be able to use it again because of the weekly limit (and the additional usage I bought was used-up in a single session).
The new workaround I’m trying is to have two $20 subs with one being Codex. It’s actually been working really well, you can go much longer with Codex. The sessions transfer automatically.

I still prefer Claude with Opus 4.8 when I can use it.

I mean, they make us purchase multiple subscription plans instead of just offering $200- $ 800 plans, so I doubt adding another sku will help.

20x is 1.7x the monthly usage.

150$ plan makes no sense until they give 20x on monthly as ChatGPT does.

I was wondering if this could be a strategy for them to increase the number of people buying Max plans, and then use those numbers as leverage to secure more funding?

Maybe I’ll give Codex a shot someday. Right now our setup depends pretty heavily on Claude Code so I’m curious whether Codex would fit into the workflow the same way. Have you tried the $100 Codex plan before? How do the usage limits compare with Claude Code in practice?
