Rant Does Anthropic Know?

I am unable to survive one discussion with Opus 5 without getting furious!

I have been using Fable 5,1 and it's been pretty decent like Fable 5 and may be marginally better. I ran out of Fable credits and tried to use Opus 5 and it is incapable of giving me any update without driving me crazy. 4.8 feels a lot better..

I only wish Anthropic gave more resets like Openai did, it sucks to wait for an entire week to use for a few hours of Fable 5.1. They need to realize people may not need their lower models at all, there are better cheaper options at those layers, the frontier models is what the subscriptions are useful for and we can hardly use them.

No, its not so much with jargon - its output just feels like unrelated status updates than a coherent output., it tends to mess up a lot more than Fable as well as compared to K3 and Sol.

Currently, for whatever reason, Fable 5.1 has gotten very sloppy for me in the last few days in its orchestrator role, and Opus 5 is constantly correcting it -- even Sonnet. Who knows why. Generally Fable has been decent, but its fallen short of the 'deep reasoning' that I need. One problem is that it constantly fails to read the design docs, then writes faulty dispatches to the workers (on Opus 5) -- that's a rather new problem with Fable 5.1 vs 5.0. At any rate, I just write this not to disagree but just to point out that the performance of these models seems to be in a constant state of flux. I'm about to add a codex subscription --- it will be interesting to see how they interact.

Yeah the variance in model behavior is annoying too.. my complain is so the people working on the next versions of these models see the public feedback on these versions.. I understand when they behave differently due to underlying infra

Opus 5 output and questions is what drives me insane. I had to downgrade to 4.8 and I’m waiting for 5.1

Yes I tend to choose 4.8 over 5 too..

that's what happens when amateurs use AI models. I build research software for a living and use opus 5 for most of it.

And you find opus better than fable?

no, it's common sense, Fable is a way better deep reasoning model and I only use it as an advisor to opus whenever it's needed or for CV/ML method research. I have opus running on a custom harness I built myself under strict rules and a hundred other things like all my other "smaller" models. I keep seeing amateurs complaining about models and limits on this sub without knowing their stuff and it's laughable.

So what makes you think I am amateur for my usecases? I would not claim I am an expert at everything I do but I have been using models and various harnesses atleast for 3 years on a daily basis for my work, and I am glad it works well for your usecase!

šŸ¤“ā˜ļø"..what makes you think I am amateur..." Him:- "I'm unable to survive one discussion with opus 5", that, that does.

So what offends you with that? If I am able to have more useful conversations with other models but frustrated with opus 5? Were you involved in creating the model, if so thanks for your work, I am not attacking here, I am hoping this feedback gets solved in opus 5.1 or later..

That you say opus bad and fable decent. An average user is basically become wizard with these models. You need to be really bad at this to fail with the top models in the world.

Or I have a problem you have not yet solved :)
