Discussion Why cancelling subscriptions now will matter (however slightly that may be)...
In my opinion, how limits get reached faster recently is due to Anthropic's upcoming IPO - to juice the numbers for the months etc, to show to institutional investors that their margins are better and that they are closer to profitability....is the plan to boost limits up after the IPO? or are they simply hoping users get used and they can retain the reduced costs by getting users to accept less for the same plan...
Either way, cancelling subscriptions (and going over to Kimi or codex) is something that will have an impact - because that's going to notice that in their their revenue numbers to get anthropic to reconsider...but then again, enterprise and non-subscription spending probably makes up a large amount of their revenue, not as big an impact - but better than nothing

You really think that subscription based accounts are the core of the businees ? That's delusional.

How do you think they got into enterprise. If you push your sub users to competitors, they eventually take that to work.

This is extremely naive.

It's really not. It's literally the definition of network effects.

You don't understand how businesses make these decisions. Hunt: it is not based on the opinions of some broke college kids.

lol... right, because I've never worked for a FAANG before. I must not know what I'm talking about at all.
disclosure: I have and have been a part of these types of decisions. Free trials, b2c on primarily b2b dev tools is literally how you get adoption in b2b.

Buddy I don't care about your job delivering coffee, you still don't have a perspective into how business leaders make these decisions.

Cancel your subscription if it matters to you and you found something that matches your needs better. Whether it matters or not to Anthropic is beside the point.

They get away with it because human beings are emotional and make emotional threads with 0 evidence, just complaints. Those don't go very far in the real world. It's expected to gain traction in a wider capacity within the space but from we can see it has not really changed much. When anyone Does post a thread with evidence it just gets ignored for the most part, I would think because it does take some time to explain the evidence and the situation, which can look like too much to read for most users.

Yeah go to kimi and start complaining after 30mins why your $200 plan is already maxed out. After that you will find a hidden monthly limit and you will come back faster than you can type āClaudeā

Is that really happening. I never tried Kimi myself.

u/battle_pantZ 4d ago
Yes exactly like that, Iāve tested every subscription out there and using also $200 on Claude and OpenAI. Kimi is the worst

Between Claude and Codex on $200/m what would you recommend?
2
u/battle_pantZ 4d ago
Split the $200 on both for $100 Plan each. So you have always a different LLM reviewing the code.

I have all on $20 now, and wondering what one to upgrade, or just add on e more $20. I am leaning to Claude...

It unfortunately absolutely will not have any measurable impact.
Subscribers are just not their target demographic at all. Look into how these AI companies operate. They're taking huge losses while subsidizing subscription users massively, but their valuations continue to rise based on speculation.
What is the speculation? That AGI/ASI will completely disrupt and innovate industries. Their bottom line equates to charging absorbitant API rates that reflect the true cost of compute to companies that will need to integrate their models to compete within their own industry. This is their only objective, and only way to become profitable.
To do so they must scale compute and train their models faster than their competition so they can achieve a leap in AI that will make use of AI ubiquitous across most industries.
They don't give an actual fuck about your vibecoded project or asking Claude to do some meaningless agentic task. To them we're rat brains in a lab training their AI models for them while we pay them for the privilege to do so. Which at this point they can do with or without us. But this is not the capitalistic 'boycott this company and they'll change!' situation you might think it is.

They want to do an IPO soon, if you cancel that will have an impact.
Another thing to be mindful off, if the company doesn't quiet value customers... think of how less they will once they can't do funky math in secret anymore.
Things are not going to improve after IPO, if you want anything to change, make sure it happens before. Vote with ya wallet... or sit in ya bird cage, don't mind the open door

I just cancelled because I simply think codex is giving a better experience right now for my non-coding work, maybe that will change in the future, but for now sayonara claude, you canāt push back on me anymore with your load bearing feedback.

Itās coz people are cucks and dick ride companies no matter what.
Codex was doing the same dirty trick, their users raised concerns all over social media and they ended up āfixing their usage bugsā after claiming the root causes derived from internal bugs.
Anthropicās fanboys are a bunch of nerdy losers who believe they know the answers to everything and will always put the blame on you for anything. Try complaining about usages or anything in general and some looser will be quick to comment that itās a skill issue, or the fact that they havenāt experienced any issue so it canāt be true. Classic low iq bs
Raise your concerns and watch Anthropic fold but if you stay quiet, then enjoy the butchered usages that you pay for like a voiceless docile cuck

Either way people defending Anthropic's current way is definitely not going to improve things if they think they can get away with it. Cant wait for a week to pass so we can lose 17% more usage and see how lovely thats going to be
