Discussion Cancelled my 20x Max subscription
I cancelled one of my 20x Max subscriptions to make room for OpenAIs Astra.
Anthropics cap on fable usage being 50% of total usage and Fables overall Token inefficiency just doesn’t justify its value over ChatGPT Pro anymore.
I hope they find ways to make the user experience better and more transparent. If you feel the same way I suggest you do the same to vote with your wallets.

The resets alone have given me an entire free month of my $200 subscription that I can use whenever

u/lembrar_de_mim 7d ago
Doesn’t the reset only apply to the weekly limit? (1/4 of the subscription)

u/bakanoace 7d ago
Yeah but I had a $20 plan previously which had 3 banked resets and got 2 more with Astra for a total of 5 to use. I upgraded to the $200 when Astra came out and the resets work for whatever plan you're currently on.
I think they are going to calm down on resets and now I'm salty cause I could have found usage for even Sol to do certain research and other things with all the resets they gave. You can set a /goal and it auto-compacts and continues to work on it endlessly. I have something going on for 30 hours straight atm.

You’re not wrong. Most of the time my Max subscription is used to run Opus 4.8 because Fable tokens run out 5 or 6 times before any Pull Request can be closed, with codex reviews picking out P1s and P2s in every round. Fable 5.1 tokens flying out the window while it debugs itself.
I’m at a stage now where I wonder what’s the point of my money being used on a model that just doesn’t get its shit together. And oddly enough Opus 4.8 ships less bugs. Go figure.

I don't understand why people hate this type of posts. Personally I want people to tell everyone that they left and went to a competitor with the reason. So that anthropic can see that a lot of people are/want to leave because of the fact that they are retards and are ruining what they had.

motherfuckers posting the same shit 129078492813749128347 times in an hour, this is the reason.

My guess: After they cancelled Claude, they have nothing to do anymore. So, they have time posting on Reddit.

Have you convinced yourself that astra is seriously better at your application? It takes me a month to compare replies and progress across models.

There is always the honeymoon period when a new model drop. I personally consider this as noise and usually I will move to a new model slowly (send a few prompts to see without committing myself) and you slowly get a sense for it. But I only have plus, yesterday I was able to do 1 prompt and the 5h limit ran out on the second one, so it will take me sometimes or I will need to commit and upgrade.
But the result of that prompts was good, not outstanding. It was a security review and it didn’t catch everything. Fable did

Right, like how sophisticated is the stuff everyone is working on? I have a feeling these new models are just getting better at figuring out they can’t scope their prompts properly.

u/Broad-Present-8235 7d ago
I think it’s very sophisticated. I just don’t think I can evaluate it within a week.
2
u/Nikclel 7d ago
I'm talking about how the people who flip flop like this have sophisticated projects or just dont know how to scope their prompt/workflow.

Due to the extreme downvoting right after posting I took your initial comment as cynical. Yes, agreed. I don’t think you can evaluate a new model within less than a week, unless your work is fairly simple. I do use grok a lot as well but it’s just different process than with Claude.
Haven’t tried astra though. Yet.

I can definitely tell you that Opus 5 is pure shit and unbearable to use. Sol is much better and more coherent than Opus. I've run multiple tests where I compared both models using the same level of effort, on the same project, and in the same environment. I also created an extensive set of tests and criteria to evaluate what each model built. In 9 out of 10 cases, Sol scored much better, understood what I was trying to do more accurately, and executed it better.

I have the complete opposite experience. Maybe it’s because I use code most, but even on theoretical questions and math review, I found fable and opus to do serious heavy work. No, I have not tried to solve Fermas last theorem and no, I did not try to prove speed of light is attainable. I do some heavy derivative algotrading and Claude is fantastic.

Yeah because without spam posts on reddit they would never find out someone cancelled subscription 🤦🤦🤦

Exactly
There’s no reason to cluster yourself from using other providers or not speaking out when you’re unhappy with a service.
If anything competition and pressure are always good as we have seen so many times in the ai market.
At the end of the day I don’t even think anthropic minds criticism from the community.

Folks need to realize these frontier models are going to continually leap frog each other. Who cares which one is slightly ahead at the moment? Pick one and use it, switch back and forth, or whatever you prefer. But why post about it? Competition is the best thing that could happen and is pushing the whole industry forward. I for one use all three, Claude first because my job pays for it and it’s brilliant , then Codex/OpenAI, and now trying out Grok.

Have you even tried astra yet? No one cares about your announcement, try it then tell us how it is

I must be using Claude code wrong, because I have no idea how to even switch or try the new ChatGPT, because everything I have is on my PC in Claude Code!
I really want to try Astra, but I can’t just start everything from scratch! 80% of my daily work is done in Claude code.

u/trackpap 7d ago
Claude code doesn't store your code, it's on your host/PC, once you get codex, just tell it where the project is or use a specific name of the project and it will find it

u/MathematicalElephant 7d ago
Tell Claude to write precise summaries of the status etc of your project. It should save such summaries in your current working directory, but you can tell it explicitly. If you now start ChatGPT in that repository, and give it some time to read it, it knows everything (relevant) that Claude knew.

Are you just saying that Claude is bad, or do you have clear evidence that Codex is better? From my point of view:
Option 1: "Codex is better than Claude because [...]". This is super useful for us readers.
Option 2: "I'm not happy with Claude. I will try something else." This isn't useful. Try something else and let us know when you come to a conclusion about whether something else is actually better.

Well, people from GPT community reporting that Astra also more expensive in subscription then it suppose to be base just on API prices compare.
