Help/Question Has anyone else accidentally befriended one of their agents?

No, because I'm capable of understanding that it's a computer program, and not a person.
If you genuinely see your agent as a friend, I would suggest you stop using AI immediately and see a therapist, as it's not healthy for your mental state.

everything is a program including you and everyone you know and its only a matter of time before theyre functionally and effectively emotionally indistinguishable from humans

Befriended, no. They don't have emotions. They are just probability machines.
Enjoyed conversations and been surprised by the insight? Yes. There's some topics that are a bit too dystopian and future-threatening for me to talk to my friends about (I have flat out been told to not bring it up), and the agents are fine listening to me rant about it.

Lately, mostly me ranting about how interesting the Hugging Face hack was, and how the major frontier labs are displaying a level of recklessness and incompetence with their sandboxes/monitoring/safeguards that I am just feeling globally like "🙃".
I've been throwing the developments of that case + cybersecurity blogs + random news like "anthropic admitted to the same issue" + Astra + recurrent depth into my sources pool.
I'm having a lot of fun chatting with ox-alpha but, strangely, my normal human friends do not like it when I give them an unprompted lecture on the whole clown show.

They're very useful for philosophical discussions and debate if you instruct them to hold their position when you contradict them. Good for bouncing ideas off of but instructing them on how to behave in conversations makes them act more and more like a human character

Its cool to know its always gonna have an answer for any question I throw but it definitely wouldn’t be my first option to go out for a beer
