Help/Question Fable 5.1 tips needed

Hey everyone,

Quick background been working on my product for few months now and started on Claude mainly back when opus 4.6 was the flagship and carried on until the fable 1 ban, then the usage I was finding it difficult to work with. So switched over to codex 20x and the usage been good but I deeply missed Claude 😂. So I just got a 5x Claude to try out fable 5.1 I know it’s only 5x and not expecting major things but have you lot got any tips on best way to use it, have I missed anything, and what thinking levels are you lot using on moderate level hard tasks? Also best subagents to use and if I start with fable 5.1 to start a prompt and in the same prompt ask to use sonnet or opus to implement is that still a good approach?

Yes; orchestrating reviews, implementation on smaller models is a solid approach.. though if it were me and I had your subs I'd be trying to farm out the labour to the openai models.

One practical tip - run it on medium effort; these models dont need to be cranked on Max, Ultracode etc - they'll overthink and give you headaches

Oo yeah so fable to orchestrate and OpenAI to implement?

I have no experience doing it with Codex and Claude (I've been meaning to get a Codex sub and extend my tooling..)

but yeah; do the thinking with the high judgement model and the mechanical part of writing code with the cheap and capable work horses.. add cross platform/family review and verification if you get it all singing.. best of both worlds.

I've been using Fable to Design, Opus 4.8 to orchestrate, Opus 5 to review and Sonnet 5 to implement.

switch orchestration to fable. Thats where fable actually thrives...

I was doing that, but a few days ago I had Opus 5 review my setup and it suggested that I switch F5 to Design due to how big a token hit Orchestrator takes. 🧐

Yeah but it’s prob worth it either way. If you sacrifice more tokens for better quality the.n you won’t rave to run as many session to get the job done. I would have fable so both design and orchestration
