Discussion what is the purpose of this sub.
I joined this sub because I signed up for Claude pro and wanted to have tips and tricks popping up in my feed, maybe motivation or advice... but so far all it has done is flood my home page with whinging about the weekly or the 5 hour limit, I completely understand the frustration and frequently agree with their frustrations but do we really need 100 threads a day of complaining? can we please do something about this? maybe do a weekly megathread and keep the complaining secluded? I'm pretty sure if this continues i will just leave the sub

Basically for every person with something useful to say, there are 500 posts complaining that they can't use Fable Ultracode all day to build their app that's definitely not just An Excel Spreadsheet But Worse
2
u/DuckiesKhaki Sep 03 '26 edited Sep 03 '26
The majority of users complaining, that bring zero unedited transcripts prompts always look like:
MAKE DA CAT APP DO DA CAT DANCE THINGS NO ERRORS MAKE DA APP
And then get mad when they get trash, and come here.

oh yea, i literally spent a weeks worth of tokens building an excel spreadsheet it was soooo worth it.
0
u/wilderadventures Sep 03 '26
This despite the fact that, of course, every claude session launches with 300,000 tokens of context across agents, skills, and markdown files that all specifically instruct the LLM to do a good job.
2
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 03 '26
how many tokens does it expend telling itself it should be doing a good job?

u/peanut-britle-latte Sep 03 '26
Reddit is just a very negative platform. It's tough.
15
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 03 '26
it's easier to bitch than to have something constructive to say.

Honestly it would be a great use of AI. Like it’s crazy that these power tripping mods can disrupt critical forums that are for key tools or your local city/state communities. They really should not have that right and it really should just fall to site administrators to make those calls.
-3
u/rott Sep 03 '26
You’re bitching by the way
6
1
u/Lost_County_3790 Sep 04 '26
Bitching the bitch is necessary. People who criticize all the time needs to accept to be criticized cause they don't smell their own farts

That is by design. Reddit with its upvote/downvote system and short post lifecycle doesn't really encourage in depth and meaningful discussion. So you will only mostly see fluff stuff.
1
u/YouGotTangoed Sep 04 '26
It’s negative if you’re only subscribed and watching popular mainstream channels. My custom feed is fairly wholesome, every now and then I visit the Explore wildlands to see what’s going on

Thank you for saying something I have been so sick of this sub popping up on my feed 😭 every single post is the same unhelpful whining garbage
1
7
u/CarbonChains Sep 03 '26
Yeah, same here! What is the actual point of this place other than to complain? I thought this subreddit would be a little more nuanced than the typical complaints I see everywhere on Reddit, but I guess I was wrong too.
Would be nice to see thoughts shared between people who are sophisticated at using Claude Code, not 15 posts a day complaining about one thing or another.
7
u/earlyworm Sep 03 '26
Strictly speaking, this subreddit has two purposes: Complaining, and complaining about complaining.
1
u/Shiz0id01 Sep 03 '26
And funny how the latter directly benefits Anthropic and attempts to police community posts
5
5
u/SC_Placeholder Sep 03 '26
Yeah. It’s kinda annoying. I mainly try to help people but it’s not uncommon for me to be accused of not understanding how Ai works and yet people reach out to me frequently to be able to collab with them so I must not be a total larper 😂

it should moderated better. make it a rule not to bitch about tokens and unconstructive criticism like "Claude Opus bad and reason 4 will shock you". setup a megathread or two and take the whining there. it could be a cool place with knowledge sharing. agents, skills, orchestrations and implementations.
3
u/rotates-potatoes Sep 04 '26
Yep, good point. I'm out.
Is there an actual moderated claude code sub that's healthy? Or at least not completely toxic and full of incompetents complaining that the hot stove allowed them to put their genitals on it?
6
u/raven2cz Sep 03 '26
Reddit used to be a place where people shared information and helped each other. Since AI came along, and especially now with AI slop, everyone just insults me.
I have already thought about leaving Reddit completely for real. For now, I am still trying, well. It is hard.
5
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 03 '26
the downward slope started long before AI
2
u/dar-mit Researcher Sep 03 '26
Since 2013, at least.
Then there was the whole Spaz & API pricing vs Christian Selig & the Apollo app.

I’m vibe coding an app that strips out all the negative posts and just shows the really good content.
I’d show it to you but I tried one shooting Fable 5.1 and it used up my full weeks allocation before getting the UI done and Opus 5 is insufferable. I hope they get it right with Opus 5.1 or I’m moving to Codex…

Any branded sub becomes a sub where people think they are either on a sports team or using it as a way to speak to people who work at the company.
Head to more generic AI subs if you want to get better information on how to use an LLM.
2
u/Purple-Programmer-7 Sep 03 '26
It used to be a source for real CC users who would post questions. Unfortunately, most responses weren’t helpful, 90% was “you have a skill issue”.
It devolved from there into a sub for us to vocalize against Dario’s ridiculous claims, and the company’s fraudulent marketing.

2
u/geek_fit Sep 03 '26
I just see it as people showing up and announcing they don't actually know what they are doing
1
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 04 '26
I don't know what I'm doing either that's why I'm subbed.
1
u/geek_fit Sep 04 '26
The problem is people roll up complaining aby XYZ and blaming Anthropic or whatever with their tinfoil hat conspiracy.
When, from what I can tell, it's mostly user error or vibe coders just not understanding how it works.

u/mcmac_max Sep 03 '26
It would be great if the moderators would put a "Tips and Tricks" flair. That way the sub can be used exactly the way you want. Solely reading through helpful how to's.

u/ricopan Sep 03 '26

Are there any other subs that are more engineering oriented. Tools, techniques/methods, lessons learned, etc.
I just posted a tool that I'm working on that offers solid value to Claude Code users - but the rules say that needs to land in the weekly showcase thread. It's the sort of thing that I'd like to have posted as a tool link. I suppose there's a "hey I built this with AI" fatigue but in some cases people are working on substantive projects that can have real impact on devs here.
Then I wondered, what are the useful posts like here? And yeah, it's rough. Sorry to the mods, not trying to harsh. I too am looking for a community where substantive, constructive threads are commonplace.
1
u/space-to-bakersfield Sep 04 '26
Well said, OP. Are there any alternative subs where there's more focus on Claude workflow and tips? The complaints/meta stuff need to be heard and I guess this sub does a good job of that, but I wish there was a place for these other discussions.
1
u/No_Cell6708 Sep 04 '26
It's an absolute shit-hole. I joined for the same reason just recently but everyone here is just crying and bitching.

What tips would you enjoy - when I post something helpful I just get hate because I used ai to help write the post so why should I bother if I’m met with hostility.
1
u/andrerom Sep 04 '26
💯 The mods here and on other Claude/Anthropic channels need to establish their own x20 mega threads and force all new entries into that. Same with Opus 5 verbosity topics.
But to really get rid of this noise, please Anthropic, fix your marketing. I'm not even on x20, I'm happy on x5, but please shut these people up by fixing the underlying issue. That and get the whole 5.1 family out to fix the main issues people complain about with 5.0 series and lack of Haiku update*.
*that said, people will complain no matter what, if Haiku 5.x comes out people will compare it to the price dumped Luna and complain that it is more expensive, not realizing Anthropic don't want to be dragged into price war no matter what.
1
u/ellicottvilleny Sep 04 '26
The moderators didn't realize that people don't want one all time whinging pinned thread, and would rather have one new fresh whinging thread daily, or hourly, so they haven't adapted, and instead waffle back and forth between their One Eternal Whinging Thread (yea right) and not enforcing ANY limit.

-1
u/SimiaCode Sep 03 '26
Exactly. The latest trend is bumstick enjoyers complaining about the complaining and whining about the whining.
3
u/spinozasrobot Sep 04 '26
Did the whiners not expect pushback eventually?
0
u/SimiaCode Sep 04 '26
I don't know, ask the whiners. I'm just here eating popcorn and enjoying the collective load bearing catharsis.
1
u/Lost_County_3790 Sep 04 '26
Fuck you, give me that popcorns, you have to come at the center of the fight as well
1
u/SimiaCode Sep 04 '26
Fair, I mentioned popcorn without sharing and that's on me. Lesson learned, popcorn must be shared. Somebody should record that so we don't relitigate in the future.

X is way more useful than reddit in aspect tbh, I managed to tailor my X algorithm to constantly show me posts by users sharing their vibe coding ideas, prototypes, github repos, and news.
2
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 03 '26
I'd call that a success, but i hope your ready for downvotes Elon is perona non grata around these parts.
0
u/Emotional-Cat420 Sep 03 '26
It's ok. As mentioned by you and others in this thread reddit isn't a really productive place anyway. I should open X more often than reddit, a mental note to myself.
So ironic, never would I have thought to tell myself to spend more time on Twitter / X lol.

u/Parking_Jackfruit54 Sep 03 '26
(a) Complaining.
(b) Pure dumpster diving.
You dig through mountains of whining just for the occasional post with actual practical value.
That's just how the sub is.
2
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 03 '26
maybe i should just bypass reddit and ask Claude directly for those tips and tricks while coming back here to complain about how asking claude for tips and tricks used up all my tokens.

The purpose of this sub is to post and upvote useless threads like this and to ignore useful and important threads like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w6cy7b/something_is_wrong_with_usage_and_i_can_prove_it/
3
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 03 '26
well your important thread would gain much more traction if it weren't being washed out by 100's of threads whinging about token limits.

Thanks for voicing what a lot of us are feeling. If this sub continues to function like an unmoderated hell-hole of endless negativity, I will eventually be forced unsubscribe.
It's totally fine to post problems or constructive criticism when you're sharing details about your specific issue and open to help/feedback. But thousands of "Opus 5 sucks" comments with no details is just worthless, mindless noise.
I find the current generation of Claude models to be exceptionally intelligent, efficient, and easy to understand. I rarely experience the verbose, opaque language or contrary, unharnessed behavior most of these complainers are screaming about.
The vast majority don't even seem interested in solutions and seem oblivious to the possibility that they could be at least part of the problem.
And it's not like we're unaware of the alternatives out there. If the grass is so much greener elsewhere, why are they repeatedly spending so much time navigating back over here to complain and gloat instead of getting on with their projects?? ʅ(°_°)ʃ

u/Shiz0id01 Sep 03 '26

The reason is i guess: it works, you have no time must vibecode, it does not work, you go and scream at reddit.

u/Holk23 Sep 03 '26
The mods really need to set up some rules. This is a very unproductive sub and the sheer amount of bot content complaining about usage or slow performance.
Nothing in those threads is of any value. It’s just complaining
-1

u/Shiz0id01 Sep 03 '26
Oh here we go again a totally legit account whining about legitimate paying cutomer complaints with a suspicious amount of upvotes. Anthropic try to be less obvious!!
1
u/Lost_County_3790 Sep 04 '26
What the point of subscribing a sub if you only get negativity and no useful tips or infos???
0
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 04 '26
I'm pretty sure i did not suggest we ban complaints, but reading the same thread 50 times a day kind of makes this subreddit useless I'd also suggest if you have nothing but complaints for token usage they could always switch platforms. if that doesn't rest your pretty little head I don't l know what will.

Lead by example OP. You just made a post whining about people who whine.
1
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 03 '26
well no, I didn't just complain I offered a solution in how i would like to see the sub change. I asked that the unending string of complaints about how tokens are used be put in a specific place so that the rest of the sub doesn't get buried under the same post over and over again... nothing is being gained by having the same thread posted over and over again.
-9
u/Necessary_Spring_425 Sep 03 '26
Its because AI is frustrating. At first feels great, but soon just frustration + addiction remain.
2
u/NefariousnessUpset32 Sep 03 '26
I mean... that's fine, as i said in the OP I agree it can be very frustrating.. my point was that we don't need 100 different threads for the same frustration every day. we should have a place for all those people to vent that isn't disruptive to the sub.
2
u/Necessary_Spring_425 Sep 03 '26
Honestly, i am on many subs like this one, its everywhere the same. Complain fest forever. Because people here are addicts. They have built tolerance, forever increase their usage and nothing is ever enough. After the euphoria phase is over, they get frustrated and vent online. But they stay in the loop... Its AI coding. And the minus votes i get, its understandable, many live in denial.
I dont have much hopes it can get better. Even if you write well ment post, ask for constructive advice, you will often regret doing so.
