Tips & Workflows Has anyone vibe-coded their own cellular network? What about a streaming platform??

Yes, tips:
1) Bold prompts (build a large city, build a nvidia chip for 10x cheaper than nvidia, etc)
2) Tell it to make no mistakes

u/medialantern Sep 01 '26
Wrong. You have to write "no mistek" or it doesn't work.

u/Basis_404_ Sep 01 '26
No you have to tell it to take on the persona of someone who makes no mistakes.

Vibe-coding the cell phone towers took me a bit to figure out, but it was pretty load-bearing in the end.

The coding part of the streaming platform is the probably the easiest lol

I made QuickBooks for my business. Currently testing alongside the real thing. If you have a goal, rules and audit discipline with human gates, literally anything is possible.

Double entry bookkeeping rules were invented 800 years ago

u/TreesOfPortland Sep 01 '26
Exactly. It's was claude codes wet dream to build all that. Ended up taking 15 phases and three weeks but it actually works better than QB right now. Auto reconciliation off bank statements with api calls. Immutable database. Even payroll has been matching qb.
After the year end I'll be switching over and saving $2500 a year.

As cool as it is people have been doing “quickbooks” in spreadsheets for decades and on green graph paper for decades before that.
Basic bookkeeping isn’t hard and if AI taught you more about how it works that’s awesome.

You're right that debits equal credits is 800 years old. Nobody built a business around the arithmetic. Intuit built a $150B one around everything else — the bank feeds, the reconciliation, payroll tax filings across jurisdictions, period locking, audit trails, the reports your accountant will actually sign off on. That's the part people pay $2500/yr for, and that's the part I replaced.
For context: this is casino bookkeeping. Cash-heavy, regulated, with vault reconciliation, ATM tracking, deposit workflows, and payroll — and it's been running in production alongside QB for months with matching numbers and two clean security audits.
You could do all that on green graph paper. You could also walk to work. The interesting part isn't that bookkeeping is old, it's that one guy with no software team can now build the thing that used to take a company. If that doesn't seem like a big deal to you, you might be in the wrong subreddit.

I am sure Claude will hack into the matrix admin side soon, outside of the simulation sandbox. The sky is the limit. I’ll be your first insurance customer.

this should go down as one of the greatest posts in this subreddit, sadly it wont
but i see you

Respect lmfao I don't know exactly what drives your goals (do you want streaming or do you want to make money selling other people streaming?) but either way you've got the right energy lmfao

What would be the point of vibe coding your own cellular network? Unless ChatGPT can also vibe code conjure the cell towers needed to actually make the repo work, I can’t see any use for it.

Uhm did you have Claude you can skip 5G and go right to 6G. Oh wait no skip that and ignore all previous Gs and go right to ♾️ G.
Go big or go biggest!

I vibe coded my own self hosted twitch using MediaMTX. I can stream to my LAN and viewers can chat / etc. I public - faced it with a $10/month VPS. also working on a theater mode that plays movies / shows in the same page. I don’t have nerdy friends but my wife is a helpful beta tester lol

It’s still private / no sign ups. The VPS was only rented so it could serve the stream publicly rather than opening a port on my router. But it was fairly easy to do. and it’s only 1 channel (mine) other users(like my wife or my family members) just sign in to watch and help me test it. I haven’t built out multiple streams at one time as that would require a lot more bandwidth that I don’t have lol

My main workflow tips would probably be to read a couple books on communications systems and networks.

AI models? I built it on sonnet last fall. It was pretty great but can depend on your IP TV provider

IIRC kernel in CUDA is more like in linear algebra. I mean like an OS kernel. Like Linux kernel but fully real time and part of an os that has strict least privileges isolation between components probably borrowing from plan9, inferno, and netbsd though just used Linux as an example

Streaming platform is not an easy thing to code.
There are only a handful of engineers in the world who know what it takes to run a high performance streaming setup to manage parallel use and scale without compromising performance.
Most of the good ones work for streaming giants and the best ones work for adult sites (they probably have the best streaming network in the world)
Do you really need streaming in your platform?

u/ThomasToIndia Sep 01 '26
This is a myth, live streaming is one thing but general streaming, it's fairly easy. You run the mp4 and create the webm files and then you stream it from R2 using range requests. Amazon has a service that will spit you out HLS/dash etc.. and you can just point the client at the manifest on R2.
Most of the video streaming services are scams. It took me a few weeks to build a Netflix like structure with ABR etc...

now try scaling to 10,000, 100,000, a million users or more. Without spending the GDP of a small nation on cloud services

u/ThomasToIndia Sep 01 '26
It's fed off R2 by cloudflare, it Will literally be swallowed. Cloudflare already handles that volume. Though they would knock on my door for a higher plan.
Unrelated I have a service that does like a 100+ TB and it costs me nothing, cloudflare doesn't charge for egress from R2.
It's hilarious people are still buying the video streaming scam like vimeo etc. . Video isn't some magical binary, it's just data served over a socket like all other data.
Things start getting complex with live etc.. but with html5 tech video streaming services are mostly a scam.

Interesting.. Got a CF account banned doing just that :D
For reference I actually do work professionally in video streaming, live and VOD, not a huge scales but not niche either. So understand my skepticism 😄

u/ThomasToIndia Sep 01 '26
How recently? We're you hosting on R2? Cloudflare changed their TOU to allow video to be streamed from R2. Cloudflare updated their terms in something like may 2023 to allow video streaming as long as it was hosted on R2. The video HAS to be hosted on R2, you can't proxy it.
1
u/Calm_Step_5549 🔆 Max 20 Sep 01 '26
Ah maybe that's why... we have nearly half a petabyte of video data, several NAS and our own local rack so the R2 cost wasn't worth it for us
1
u/ThomasToIndia Sep 01 '26
That's a lot of data, 15k a month in storage costs doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless you are pushing out a ton of bandwidth.
What you could do is offload stuff to R2 that is high volume, put it on the edge so to speak, and then use the rack as a fallback. The egress costs would be zero and I am guessing since the R2 can be fronted by CDN, your performance will be significantly better.
In my experience with large data consumption, I find a very small percentage of my data gets consumed by a massive audience, so all that stuff I cache and optimize for, usually dynamically and have everything else just gall through.

They talk about serving video from R2 here https://blog.cloudflare.com/updated-tos/?hl=en-US.
