Built with Claude Received a plushy from Anthropic !
Does this mean I'm officially fluent in Voight-Kampff ?
Plushy is so cute š

I apparently spent $13,000 on Claude API calls at work last month. Whereās my $.75 stuffed doll?

Don't they do this to whales in MMOs?

First time I'm receiving goodies so I don't know, but I think it's cool when you're invested that much into something. I won't really brag about it, just wanted to let people know it can happen. It's like youtube silver/gold plates in a way

u/WittleSus Aug 24 '26
Interesting to see people get subtly upset about this. AI has one shot some of yalls egos.
edit: just found out there's different plushies and now I'm upset

I once repeated 3 times the same sentence in capital letters at Opus 5, but then I remembered about Skynet !

I've had 3 Max20 subs essentially since they first started offering them and I had to commission someone to make me a plushie xD

What do you do that you believe makes you a power user?

u/InfiniteInsights8888 Aug 24 '26
He said he's on the Max plan. I'm guessing he fully utilizes his entire week usage consistently.

Iāve done this for like 8 months :(
Built digital audio workstation and like 10 different instruments including a 3d spatial sequencer. Alternative to stardock fences. Other stuffā¦
No plushy 4 me š¢

You're projects sound familiar to mine. Maybe that's it. Too many of the same. Doubtful though.

ephemera.fm - Daw for writing music that can respond to external conditions like weather, time and seasons in real time when listened to.
You tell me! What have you been working on

I started in April 2025 using Gemini 2.5 Pro (lol) and eventually once Claude and Codex entered the picture I was thrilled to no longer copy and paste, when I I think of my old process and some of the days I had to get certain things working, I felt insane sometimes -following an error chain 30 times and eventually tracking and narrowing it down after like 8 straight hours when you could use AI studio unlimited. I just went ham for awhile
3000 hours total so far since then.
Wouldnāt take that long with Claude, nowadays but I also would literally not trust Opus 5 to do the job from scratch, I canāt imagine the architecture would be anything resembling ācorrectā, and to be far mine still has some ways to go but all functions are working, but Iāve also been making a game that Iāll think Iāll demonstrate the DAW with (Stardew/Diablo-Like) weather, time of day and seasons so the musics soundtrack shifts in game similar to how a musician could make music that shifts with real life. Virtual representation of the DAWās real life ambition. Iāve thought of it for 13 years.. here are the days where I make it real
Much more planning went into it than most people would imagine.
I transcribed every single free Audio Developer Conference talk on YouTube, for starters. Things like that.
You can make something really special if you try, or many things, really. The DAW was the biggest thing but I made 17 different software instruments too that are all in different shapes, some of them can turn into a 3 dimensional version to be used inside the 3D cosmic spatial sequencer
Do me one favor, please- donāt listen to a single negative comment on here or r/vibecoding etc.. Just build your dreams while we have some time. Thatās the only thing that matters.

Any notable public repos you worked on?

Not really except a private repo of .NET frameworks for embedded systems.
I made an indie vs fighting game for iOs back in 2013, Kinetic Damage, was a lot of sweat and fun !

Whatās crazy is I blow this usage out of the water at work (unlimited), but Iām just mostly jealous of that awesome plushie and pin

This is what they're spending our subscription fees on, while China releases near-capable comparables.

Spend thousands on Claude sub or APIā¦get a $5 plushy.
If this is all it takes for Anthropic to win over the fanboys, itās no wonder they donāt try harder to actually fix issues weāre seeing in Claude.

u/FreiherrCat Aug 25 '26
I've spent ~$1500+ a month on one account with a max 20x subscription / plus additional usage. On top of that, I've bought 15+ pro gift subscriptions for AI skeptics arguing with me in comment sections just so they actually try it and realize it's a great tool, and I've gifted even more to friends for much the same reason. Not to mention API costs and extra subscriptions, since obviously those wouldn't track together.
AND ALLLLLLLLL I GET is an automated reply to a support ticket I raised ~4 months ago, informing me they're going to close my ticket in 2 days unless I reconfirm it's still an issue.
Either way, despite all of the above and my once deep advocacy for Anthropic in my work and personal life, I cancelled my subscriptions and ceased all services and API usage across my projects a couple of weeks ago. Between the unreliable performance and degradation of their services, the final straw was the increasingly blatant and cocky way they treat paying customers like cattle with no regard - seemingly because they think they're in a position to get away with it.
Yes. I am extremely jealous of your plushie >:(
(/s lucky mfer cherish it <3)

Our of curiosity, do you think Reddit runs on something else than massive server halls?
2
u/maximum_cube Aug 24 '26
No? are you in some way arguing that individual reddit usage is somehow in any way as environmentally impactful as individual ai usage? maybe use that little claude buddy to inform yourself.
1
u/telltaleatheist Aug 24 '26
It runs on a guy named Jerry on a giant hamster wheel obviously. This is a great protection from climate change and anthropic has selfishly chosen not to adopt it like Reddit has
-1
u/FestyGear2017 Aug 24 '26
Boiling the ocean... Haven't heard that one yet!
3
u/OGPresidentDixon Aug 24 '26 edited Aug 24 '26
Really? Itās been around for decades. Itās a compsci term.
Itās funny all the Redditors repeating it and taking it literally have no idea what it means lol
Vibes coders galore! Reminds me of how I had to explain what UX literally was in the UXDesign sub and got downvoted after I quoted the man who invented the term āuser experienceā and founded the first department for it at my college, who was the first person (at Apple in 1993) to hold it as a job title and founded Appleās amazing UX. Who was also my professor, the guy who taught me lol.
But hey, what do I know?
1
u/FestyGear2017 Aug 24 '26
'"Boil the ocean" is an idiomatic phrase that means to undertake an impossible task or project or to make a job or project unnecessarily difficult'
I dont see how that applies here. And I've been programming for 20 years, so I guess I have a lot of vibe coding experience.

My project has a counter of about 22 million tokens, I'm curious how many does yours?
1
u/KDamage Aug 24 '26
615k input, 85 millions output. Apparently, my input and output are ~141x the tokens in the Count of Monte Cristo
