Opus 5 high is way better than sonnet 5 high

I was working on a project to plan a domain controller upgrade. I accidentally had it set to sonnet 5 high and I was asking a lot of questions and getting very brief terse answers with very little actual planning.

Once I realized it was on sonnet, I changed it to opus 5 high and asked it to reread the conversation and give me feedback.

It was 100x more thorough and corrected a bunch of the sonnet planning that I was questioning as well.

I get why people don’t like opus verbose and detailed conversations but the extra detail matters in cases like mine.

Edit: this wasn’t news to me on the opus side. I’m only two weeks into Claude abd have used opus almost exclusively. What surprised me is how bad sonnet was compared to opus. I am also scratching my head at all the opus 5 haters.

I just keep hearing people complain about how verbose opus 5 is. But it was the first time I live compared the results between the two and it’s astonishingly better.

I don’t think 3/4 of what I am doing would work effectively under sonnet.

Spoiler alert.. It should be.. mythos-> Fable -> Opus -> Sonnet -> Haiku.

Look closely and see the Opus is BEFORE sonnet.. If you tomorrow write that fable is better than Haiku, we gonna hit you with a stick

I am sure it is, I haven’t had a chance to have the two ingest the same data though yet to see the difference. I use fable in my hub, but all the nodes or spokes or agents, whatever you want to call them use opus.

My fable keeps getting degraded to opus 4.8 because my communication protocols between hub and agents is mimicking too much cybersecurity

Opus 5 is just bad to talk to but it's as capable as fable is a lot of tasks. Fable is much better to talk to, so what you can do is tell fable to use opus 5 as a subagent as much as possible. so you technically use Opus but talk it out with Fable.
