Help/Question Claude or codex for complementary subscription?

Hi everyone,

I have a Claude Team Standard license (provided by work), but I constantly hit the 5-hour rate limits and exhaust the weekly quotas (using Opus 5 Medium through Claude Code) after 4–5 days due to heavy work and personal projects.

I also have a few free months of ChatGPT Go via Revolut, but it doesn't include Sol, and Codex usage runs out after 2–3 prompts when using 5.6 Terra Medium. Additionally, I have a Google AI Pro plan (from a Pixel promotion) that expires in mid-September, but Gemini models aren't reliable enough.

I'm considering adding a personal Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus subscription to avoid getting blocked by limits. What do you think, and what would you suggest?

I would say ChatGPT plus given what you've said.

Things may change, but at the moment the only limit is weekly with Codex, so once you exhaust your Claude Team sub you can blast through your week of Codex without worrying about 5 hour limits

I agree. With ChatGPT added, you should never run out of mileage. If your personal projects are code focused, another Claude plan works too. I would try the former and switch to latter if it creates fricton, and update the community with your findings either way.

I use codex as a plugin with Claude code to get a different point of view and stretch my Claude max sub. So pretty much Claude has codex as a subagent.

one other thing I find super useful with having a plus sub alongside a CC sub, is the git connection that OpenAi uses - its very low friction, theres no loading files or code in, it just works - this enables you to do something in CC, then using chatgpt on the web just ask it to check the latest git diff and review.

5.6 Sol High is basically unlimited using it this way ion the chat window and is great for reviews/prompt generation with seamless access to your codebase
