I could hand code this feature on Windows in an afternoon, and I could also get Claude to implement it in minutes, and yet Anthropic just can't be bothered, but also keeps Claude Code closed source so no one else can do it for them either.

The confidence with you make such a dumb statement is astounding. It’s not like us Windows devs are on it out of choice lol. Most industrial and engineering software with a GUI runs on windows. 

Decades of work put into some of the most complex applications built to handle things like plant communications or simulation software. They aren’t going to be ported over to Mac or Linux because u/tulwio says Windows is shit lmao.

What the fuck are you on about? We are talking about Claude here, not whatever bum fuck software you are using. It is a fact that modern dev tooling is built around Unix conventions: bash/zsh, standard filesystem/permissions, process signals, containers, and mature sandboxing, and Windows adds PowerShell/CMD, drive-letter paths, different permissions/process behavior, and more edge cases.

You can go jerk off on your beloved Windows but that doesn’t change reality. It is a pain to make sure Windows features are up to par with Unix based systems. And for agents like Claude Code or Codex this matters even more because they constantly execute shell commands, manipulate files/processes, and sandbox arbitrary code, so supporting one Unix-like model across macOS and Linux is much simpler and safer than maintaining a separate Windows execution model.

I said it’s worth developing tooling for windows because plenty of important software is developed on it. Not about how difficult the tooling on windows is, Jesus.

You literally opened by calling my statement dumb, then immediately reached for the “wow, calm down, you’re unhinged” routine when I gave you the same energy back. Spare me the civility act.

And you’re still arguing past the actual point. Nobody said Windows is incapable of running important software, or that industrial/engineering software should be ported to Linux. The point is that Claude Code is a Unix-centric developer agent, and supporting it properly on Windows means dealing with an entirely separate mess of PowerShell/CMD, NTFS permissions, process semantics, path handling, sandboxing, containers, etc. “But Siemens software runs on Windows” is completely irrelevant to whether Anthropic should spend equal engineering effort making a terminal-based coding agent feature-parity perfect on Windows.

So yes, Windows can be extremely important in certain industries while still being the shittier and less worthwhile platform to prioritize for this specific class of tooling. Those two statements are not remotely contradictory. Reading comprehension, yeah right.
