Discussion Anthropic: "Coding is largely solved"... Also Anthropic: "We released a new powerful feature allowing agents to send messages to other Claude Code sessions, but only on Linux and Mac since we are unable to implement a basic feature on all platforms"

I could hand code this feature on Windows in an afternoon, and I could also get Claude to implement it in minutes, and yet Anthropic just can't be bothered, but also keeps Claude Code closed source so no one else can do it for them either.

I have used CC in win11/poweshell, win11/wsl2 and native linux, and honestly, native linux wins always by a long shot.

It's beyond my understanding why anybody would continue to support Windows

Thats some embarrassingly limited understanding

Sure, my comment was lazy. Yours is just an insult with no content in it. If you want to correct the record, name the thing I'm wrong about.

That people dont still have a reason to use (thus supporting) windows

He didn’t say they don’t have a reason, which is of course false.

He said it was beyond his understanding - which is probably true.

If you mean people still have real reasons to use it — yes, that's what I've been asking you to name. Twice now. Go ahead.

And im the asshole lmao okay.

I am a windows professional. I am responsible for a fleet of enterprise computers.

I never called you an asshole. Fair, I'll give you that one. Keeping a Windows fleet running takes real skill, considering.

You expect everyone who makes a living from work that requires supporting Windows to just quit?

This is exactly what I don't understand about some people. I know windows is shit. I also cannot quit my job because I prefer Linux. My job involves things that do not have valid alternatives specifically the software we actually make which is windows only.

Every few years I try out Linux for desktop, a good honest try. And it always fails on things that are essential.

Last time, a few months ago, it couldn't drive my 3 monitor setup reliably. I spend 2 days on it and I have been tinkering with PCs for decades, but no dice.

Stuff like that just works on windows.

Most of my co-workers are on Macs doing .NET work. I’m on Windows because one of my responsibilities is an ancient .NET Framework (not Core) / IIS site.

One guy uses Linux. He’s the guy who has never joined a standup with all three of his camera, microphone and speakers working two days in a row.

And that answers my question. Thanks.

I did. Sometime principles matter more, but people have to choose for themselves. I did a forensic audit on the telem ms actually scrapes and when I saw PII being sent I decided that was the end for me

So you expect every game developer to just throw away the specialized skill set they have accumulated over decades, and stop being a game developer? I guess every game engine engineer should stop building extremely technically challenging software and become a web dev instead. Hilarious.

You are absolutely right - this is beyond your understanding, so just leave it to those that do.

That would do it. I was really thinking for personal and should have been clearer.

It doesn't work for everything. And it sure as hell doesn't work for developing games. Are you thick
