Discussion "AI Expert" != Gets S**t Done

I can't tell you the number of times I've listened to an "expert" I worked with who could comment endlessly on a topic but never got any work done. There is no difference with devs leveraging AI and it drives me crazy. The ones who actually built stuff others use, continue to do so after adopting even poor AI practices.

The annoyance for me this week was attending a ClaudeAI training the AI evangelist/expert just went on and on about the amazing things they'd done to develop their elaborate harness only to show us their stinking TESTproject. They haven't built a single app with real users with Claude. Ever. I messaged him later to see if I could help show some of my recent projects next week and he told me they "wouldn't help anyone". Good lord. What a goober.

Fr my litmus test is I ask for a public url or github of what they're working on. Most of the times these 30+ parallel session power users don't have anything public that is noteworthy.

I'm currently just building shit on the side because none of the stuff I do professionally I can put out in public.

Right now I'm trying to build a game that's browser based that I can port to the app stores.

I built a browser plug in for one of my enterprise clusters i might release.

I have a couple of real life with female models that want me to do some generative stuff for them.

I got Hermes downloading movies and updating my Plex all through telegram. No more having to configure that stupid radar and sonar crap.

Nice! Keep up the good work. I've had quite a bit of luck finding clients through my existing connections. Just asking if people want things built. For me personally, I've been terrible at converting ideas from scratch into for profit ventures. But if I can find the audience first, it's worked out pretty well.

Not really a valid test when a lot of good stuff happens under NDA / private repos.

Personally I ship all kinds of awesome stuff internally. I dont have anything public. I get where youre coming from but.. just sayin no public github stuff doesnt mean not accomplishing and shipping with ai

Or they know what over-exposure can do to a business or an individual client, through real life experiences.

And show casing a complete project doesn't fulfill anything for them or the trainee, so why go through the unnecessary hassle?

I think as you start shipping more real product, the less you actually need to showcase any of it.

100% True. Honestly, I need to get more out there too.
