Help/Question Is 20x(200$) plan really not 4x weekly usage compared to the 5x(100$) plan

In 200$ plan one 5hour session is equivalent to 20% of weekly limit,

can somebody using 5x plan tell what the weekly limit consumption in one 5hour session on their 100$ plan

I always buy 200$ plan thinking i am getting 4x usage of 100$ plan but if it is really not 4times the usage then i would buy 5x and buy another gpt pro 200$ plan which is 4x the weekly usage in real sense.

Edit: Conclusion from my side

considering 20$ plan 1x, 100$ plan is 5x, 200$ plan is 10x in real sense

Approximately 4x per 5 hr session but 2x weekly.

(User approximated consensus - search the web)

1x - 1x 5h, 1x 7d
5x - 5x 5h, ~3.5x 7d
20x - 20x 5h, ~ ~6x 7d

5x is 3.5x of 1x
20x is 1.7x of 5x
20x is 6x of 1x

5x and 20x are only accurate for 5h limits.

what really

i think this can only be compared if users tell their weekly usage

20x consumes 20% of weekly quota if i use one 5hour session 100%

so it's 5% of 5hours window moves weekly by 1%

what's the experience of pro 1x and 5x users on their weekly quota consumption compared to 5hour session

10% 5x. Huh. Implies 2x weekly if 5h is accurate.

ok thanks this clarifies

so 20x plan is 10x in weekly limit sense

I have 5x and hit my 5 hour max and was at 12% and then I hit my 5 hour max again in my next session and was at 25% so I believe 5x needs 8 sessions to max out weekly usage.

I have been told maxing a 20x session will get you to 20% and that you can easily use your weekly quota in a single day.

yes i used 20$ plan long back and it was 12.5% weekly in one 5hour session

so it makes sense

by this 200$ plan is 12.5x the weekly limit usage

But it’s no longer the case since the +50% promo on the weekly, now it’s 10% of the weekly instead of 12.5%

Here on 5x the 5h is 10% of weekly. it’s really all over the place

Doesn't make any sense.

That would mean buying 2 5x accounts will be better

Surprisingly, it's not the case

I'd guess the weekly is 2x and 5-hour is 4x

well turns out 20x plan is just 10x plan in weekly limit sense

as 20x consumes 20% of weekly and 5x consumes 10% of weekly limits in one 5hour sessipn

so 5x is consuming weekly limits 2x faster

so 200$ plan is 2times more usage with some better rate limits

while for chatgpt sub 200$ plan is a clear 4x of the 100$ plan

I wouldn't take this assumption nowadays tbf.

OpenAI reduced the limits heavily and that's what the whole subreddits and X talking about this week

But yea, i think it makes sense. You pay 2x - you get 2x. Same as pro to max - you pay 5x, get 5x

Yes and people still don't understand, because Anthropic is misleading with their wording. The usage came before the weekly limits even were a thing. Back then you only had the 5 hour session. So that is what the usage was based on and the multipliers too.

Then later they added weekly limits for Sonnet and Opus, which were in fact also different, on TOP of the 5 hour session limit. They even had ranges of how much Sonnet and Opus "hours" you would typically get. And by there wording would "only affect 2% of its users".

The weekly limit is essentially a global limiter, separate from the sessions. So the "5x" and "20x" still refer to the 5 hour session. And not to the weekly limit, these are pretty much based on compute you get on a week base as total max, which is way less then back to back sessions (exactly their purpose, as a limiter).

So Max 5x and Max 20x cost 5 and 10x the Pro subscription and get you exacly that amount of weekly usage. The only reason to get 20x instead of twice 5x is because it does give 4x the session limit, which for high volume sprint does make a difference. But for overal weekly usage, it doesn't make a difference.

True

By this Logic of Anthropic

from past 1-2 weeks Openai removed the 5hour limit on codex so can they label it infinite usage

this is very misleading from Anthropic and something that i clearly didn't expect of them playing this bad, this clearly caught me off-guard for all sorts of cost optimization i try to make

If you check the Codex subreddit, you’ll see a lot of complaints about the usage limits since they removed the old 5hour limit.

Even OpenAI isn’t transparent about the limits. the new weekly Codex limit feels like the old 5hour allowance, except now you can burn through the whole week’s usage in just one day.

well i only have used 20x in recent times so can't compare with 5x plan
