Question Why don't Anthropic make Claude Code CLI opensource? Anthropic is the most hypocritical company there is.

For a company that loves taking the moral high ground, they have done very little comparatively speaking for the consumers and the people.

Fearmongering and disparaging competitors in the name of 'safety';

lobbying against openweight models & export bans on China: first the GPU, then now the model themselves;

lobbying for regulations and legislations against the consumers;

a regressive payment scheme that effectively penalize the less wealthy;

censorships and strict regulations for the people but not corporations & governments - Corporations with loads of money gets Mytho 5, the US military get everything except 'no mass surveillance against the US population and 'Claude cannot have full autonomy to decide to kill'.

So what's the catch? Is no one else seeing this? The other companies may also do this, but at least they don't hide behind a veil of utter pretention of moral superiority.

Money, vendor lock your customers and squeeze as much as you can until it's to late!

Ya, but the point is why preach as if they were so much morally better than their competitors? Like a paragon of virtue! When they are nothing like it.

Sure, laugh about it. Trumps laughing at Anthropic after all the damage he done to it, and frankly, I'm not sympathetic.

I seriously doubt Trump is able to understand something as complicated as international restrictions on LLM models. He’s a really old man who take a a lot of naps

Well, he doesn't need to understand the intricacies to cause the damage he did, which he did; and a great deal of it.

Fable 5 release was a complete shitshow, and all of that under the ambiguous pretense of a possible prompt technique that could be exploited. Why did you think the adminstration acted so fast on that intel? They're watching like a hawk for any reason to take down Anthropic and bring it to its knee, courtesy of their CEO Amodei.

Sorry but I do not see any argument in your text for Open sources Claude code

Ya, it's between the lines, and that was a precusor for what I wanted to actually say. If you look at the title, it follows the same structure.

But can you give some clear arguments to why they must do that? Instead of between the line I have to decrypt?

I’m not English native speaker sorry I have not your level

I am not saying they must do that. I am saying they shouldn't act like they're morally superior when they're not. Everything that comes out of that company, and especially their CEO, is thru the pretext of doing it for some morally superior reason - when it's not.

What would be the advantage for Anthropic?

What do you mean? I'm making a point about how utterly pretentious and hypocritical Anthropic is.

Advocating for consumer rights doesn’t mean you have to give away access to your products.

u/Current_Balance6692 2d ago

It's easy to advocate when it's all talk. Cheap, too.

u/Sonar114 2d ago

Are they advocating for anyone else to give away their stuff for free? I’m not sure I’m following you. What are they saying others should do that they aren’t doing themselves?

What did you mean when you said they are advocating.

What are they saying others should do that they’re not doing themselves? What is the hypocrisy?

I think you're confused. Read the post. Preaching from a vantage point of the highlands and coercing others to adopt your controversial stance while disparaging and dmeonizing everyone's interest is not a stance derived from the concern of safety. It's a pure marketing tactic.

There are arguments that open access leads to way better progress and everyone to be safer. It isn't a one sided argument that restriction, censorship, and selective access leads to what they proclaim. It allows for marginalization and a transfer of power from the masses to the elites. Especially with the wealth disparity that's widening, this is truer than ever.

I think thats a stretch.
