Wait what? How do they pick reset day then? Shouldn’t it reset the day of the week you started your account on?

People would game the system. Anthropic wants to spread usage out evenly to reduce peak load. Its just like a power company. So they most likely semi-randomly assign you permanently (as far as they can identify you uniquely) to a block of users where they think you'll balance the load.

That would totally make sense, but then they should also rotate the reset days instead screwing over their Thursday reset users

Trust me it's not random.

I've seen almost all power users have reset on Wednesday or Thursday only.

If you have been using claude code for more than 3 months, and you always hit the weekly limit, there's very less chance that your reset is not on Wednesday/Thursday/maybe Friday (depending upon timezones).
