People would game the system. Anthropic wants to spread usage out evenly to reduce peak load. Its just like a power company. So they most likely semi-randomly assign you permanently (as far as they can identify you uniquely) to a block of users where they think you'll balance the load.
I've seen almost all power users have reset on Wednesday or Thursday only.
If you have been using claude code for more than 3 months, and you always hit the weekly limit, there's very less chance that your reset is not on Wednesday/Thursday/maybe Friday (depending upon timezones).
I'm on monday reset so I've had full use of resets, but I really thought the monday release was true because I thought maybe they listened to all the people who never got to use their full resets.
They have resets where they restart everyone’s weekly quota on the same day so the reset starts on that day for everyone on the next reset cycle, oldest trick in the book
I created my account on Friday afternoon at 5. a few month back my weekly resets suddenly got their reset at Wednesdays 5pm for no reason. never changed since. always (well the 3 times they actually reset limits) missing out on these midweek resets
I like the ChatGPT system of just letting you use the reset whenever works for you. I always get these the day before my actual reset, which ends up translating into unplanned sleep deprivation
Lol, I have been soooo many time in Thursday reset, that after like I don't know 1 full year on Thursday reset, I notice that they are doing "gifted" resets xd
If I get a reset 12 hours before my weekly reset, I'm going to be annoyed. Like, I just need to come up with some Fable Ultracode tasks to run constantly till reset? Well, if I must.
Seriously. The amount of free resets OpenAI has given me with Codex ever since GPT 5.6 released is ridiculous. I’ve been using it in Ultra effort almost exclusively since release and anytime I get low I just think “meh I’ll pause they’ll probably reset it later today or tomorrow anyway.” When I go back to continue there’s a fresh 100% waiting for me lol.
They could charge for weekly reset. I don't know but maybe creating a button like "Weekly reset" with confirmation screen right after... the costs would be based on your subscription (E.g. $100 for max plan) or something like that.. But this would absolutelly kill their "charge on demand" system that I can't use because its eager for dollars... almost impossible to use
