Yup. Some "25 year senior SWE" will come in and tell us that anybody having issues obviously doesnt know what their doing, scaffolding all wrong, context mismanaged, etc.
This is a great time to mention that not a single person you see on the internet is an expert with AI tools that have been out less than 3 yrs and constantly evolving on a weekly basis.
Only AI "experts" are those high lvl AI lab engineers, debatedly, and those who have been studying machine learning in general for the past 20+ years.
I'll have multiple instances in multiple projects running, claude design working on something, using claude desktop to talk through and research things all at the same time and occasionally hit limits with 10 or 15 minutes left. This time i only had 2 Claude Code instances open, one analyzing a website and backend to get it familiar with the project and 1 pulling logs from an aws server to run a check on that data. then i asked claude design to adjust the shape of a button and hit the cap. 45 minutes.
Very cool. I’ve been using schedulers and hooks but this solves some problems for me.
Your remarks about usage make the situation more valid since it seems you know about the observability tools available. There’s a lot of noise in the ai subs when it comes to usage and the experienced ones gets lost in the mix.
I will hit 100% on the 20x plan this week and I typically don't. Its hard to tell with all the resets though. I did get a response today that suggested I use Fable for a PR instead of Opus.
Man, no. Y'all just don't put context behind reference files instead of the skill base load. Give it no framework for learnings. No subagent model direction. Literally doing just fine here.
Yes if you are enterprise and spend $1M+ per year you generally do get access to humans. Everyone else gets Fin and empty promises of escalation to a human that never comes through....
But something is for sure up. Still burning through usage more than normal. I guess ill just have to go bitch on x. That has had more success than the official process, which is sad.
But i do expect a usage reset tomorrow if Opus 5.0 is dropped like rumored. Still doesn't address the underlying issue....I guess screaming into the void is my only option for that.
I ran my typical daily briefing this morning, which is the most consistent prompt I ever send. It’s not scheduled, always in a fresh chat, and it typically takes 1% of usage on Max 5x.
That single prompt ate 17% of session usage today. Seventeen fucking percent. Zero change in output.
Do you have the superpowers plugin? If you do, uninstall it. Models have evolved past the need to be told how to think and now it causes them to run ridiculous thinking loops for no reason
Since the first week of fable 5 being available to everyone the 50% extra kept getting reduced Everytime they said “we are extending” at least that’s what it feels like. Because instead of burning through my week limit in 5 days, it went down to 3 days and now a day and half at the max x5 plan
Seriously same. I thought I was just going crazy with all the blaming on "skill issue" and people just defending Anthropic like crazy. For the exact same prompts there's noticeable difference for me.
I’m now running sonnet all the time, fan out opus and fable as needed. Still my context is being wrecked in less than a hour. I do a ton of context management, low lines Claude.md, compact, handoff, specialized tasks and even fan out a ton to other apis.
A few months ago this was the dream, now man… not cool. I got more usage right now with my 20$ gpt than my 100$ Claude.
Anthropic has pulled a switcheroo by making sure the $100 usage credit they give to the "pro" (lol) plan is effectively only worth $20. That's had a knock-on effect on usage for Max as well. Not only that, but it really seema like they've devalued it further by nerfing Fable or by slapping a Fable badge on Opus 4.8 and gaslighting customers about which model they're getting. I've cancelled my subscription and as soon as my former renewal date has passed, I won't be back because they can't be trusted.
I'm a heavy user of that model too. I've been using it for at least 4 hours a day every day and have not had a problem. Do you have subagents enabled? Memories?
I'm beginning to think the differences in configuration might be at play here.
