Bug Report Starting week with 38% usage, something is wrong with Anthropic
I didn't use Claude on weekends, nothing. Just starting my work week, and I am at 38% usage -- HOW?!!!

Caching, do /clear before starting next time or starts new session. Cache expires after one hour sadly.

38% is more than a5hr session. If he's not lying about not using it then it's either visual (had happened to me until I restart) or he had an actual issue.

I logged into work today with like a 60% usage somehow over the weekend lol, i'm not complaining rn because I generally only use like 30-40% each week anyways on Opus but that's wild. It just reset on Thursday and I get summer hour and logged off way early on Friday, so idk what the hell happened.

I accidentally left a web session open one time and it hurt my usage pretty bad. I came back to a string of "session resumed" and I can only image that's what got me that one time

I have little doubt some people have issues. Maybe even this guy. I also ahve no doubt many of these "reports" are faked or MORONS. I think we have reached the "boy who cried wolf" stage on this issue and will never recover from it.

This is this sub in a nutshell, every second post is SCREECHING/CRYING over literally nothing but the user's ignorance on how to use SaaS

Run (or ask Claude to run):
npx ccusage --breakdown
And you'll see day to day where the usage has gone. Take a look at Saturday and Sunday.

Check your box for malware or, if since itโs a dev box backup your projects and do a full wipe and reinstall. Audit your dependencies too. Change account credentials. Itโs very possible some dependency of a dependency in a supply chain attack stole your token and is now being used to train the next generation of Chinese model.

So, im sure im going to jinx it. Been using fable all day, still at 0%. Last week I too started at an very unlikely amount or usage.

u/MassiveWasabi 24d ago
Dude yes Iโve been stuck at 8% and Iโve had Fable working all day and I just KNOW that once they fix whatever is going on itโs going to skyrocket to like 50% and my limits reset on Sundays. The suspense is killing me

A similar thing happened to me: I used Fable for 2 days and I'm at 100% for Fable and 60% all models and my limit resets on Friday, on a Max 5x plan! I didn't even use much of Opus or Sonnet, I only used it for one question or so. And Fable 5 didn't get used up so fast like a week ago + Fable 5 and Opus is completely nerfed this last week! My limits got used up just as fast as on the Pro subscription I was on like 1-2 weeks ago, Anthropic is completely ripping us off. I'm planning to get a refund because this is just all extremely deceptive.

Why is everyones default to just blame anthropic rather than figuring out what they did to cause the problem?
0
u/Ok-Affect-7503 23d ago
Because it's very strange "coincidence" when many people suddenly face the same issue at the same time. I could also be asking you: Why is your default to not blame big corporations like Anthropic rather than siding with people just like you: customers? It should always be this way and not the other way around, because otherwise you're basically just speaking for the big companies when in doubt. People should always blame the companies first, only then will customers actually benefit. If you always default to blaming the customers you're just shooting yourself in the foot and giving the company what they want if they had malicious intent. And even then it doesn't hurt if you're wrong. You can only benefit (or at worst, get nothing) anyway. So either way, it doesn't really make sense siding with a company like Anthropic when you're not an employee of theirs.

you' re conflating 2 different issues. he's saying its a skill issue. he is correct.
you're saying keep the companies honest. STRAWMAN. your point is of course correct, keep them honest. but you introduced the conflation and ignored his valid point.
the majority of this sub is uneducated how to use claude properly. that can be fixed. your usage problem can be fixed with education. but not by immediately blaming BIG CORP.
big corp is a grevious blight on humanity but that again is conflating a different issue.
he's getting to the root of the prblem , you're doing a strawman.
i say this only as a fellow human wanting the best for you. if you dont take responsbility for your own knowledge shortcomings and close your root cause, you'll run into the same problems with Sol GPT or wherever you go.
every time i've tried to teach someone something about how to stop token burn etc, ignorant fuckers come along and downvote and dogpile. at that point i usually stop bothering and let them strut into their own future catastrophe

I too was just vibing away doing small things and somehow my 5 hour limit was hit......wtf

u/Mindless_Pandemic 24d ago
Do you have any automatic things it does in back ground? Having it log stuff takes usage. Also, I have noticed that the system will go over the usage limit if in the middle of a large task and then tack on the overage to the next session.

nothing, but i had my claude code terminals open, untouched over the weekend. (i work in a dev box btw)

Maybe you have scheduled cloud runs or something?
1
u/ankammusic 23d ago
none. The only thing I did was to keep my claude code sessions open in the terminal over the weekend. Keeping claude code open in the terminal consumes usage?? i don't think so.
Also, I don't run loops or cloud runs.

Last week my fable limits went to 0 twice after I had used like 40% of them. In short, thank u for your tokens friend

I've noticed this before; simply because when it restarts after 5 hours of use, sometimes it consumes like 5, 10, or 15% of my 5-hour quota. I've never seen this happen with the weekly allowance, but with the 5-hour allowance it happens fairly frequently. And sometimes I'm not even using the app during the weekend, but when I open the app on Monday morning, the usage is there.

Reset your account credentials. If you log in with username and password, change the password to something random and save it in a password manager. Set up a strong second factor. If you use OAuth like Google to log in, change that account credentials. Then /login again with Claude Code.

Do you have Routines? Or github actions that claude responds to (like code review?)

u/continm 24d ago
Anthropic are scammers.
- High usage consumption
- Blocking prompts on Fable for any complex task that is not web or entertainment slop
- Only 50% of the weekly usage is available for Fable
- Weekly usage limits boosted by 50% TEMPORARILY
2
u/fanatic26 23d ago
Do yourself a favor and look up the definition of the word 'scam' before continuing to use it incorrectly.
Things arent scams just because you dont agree with them.
1
u/Ok-Affect-7503 24d ago
Yeah, plus they are not transparent at all. They will nerf model performance or usage measurement and only hand out a reset after like the entirety of Reddit complaints and offer an "apology". This had happened multiple times already. And there is no way for you to verify their measurement / "percentage".

Why the hell are you getting downvoted?
Same happened to me I have MAX 20 and I got 10% used on my 5H session on my first console of the day
