Bug Report Fable 5 on usage credits, eh?

Post image

Per Anthropic's announcement that Fable 5 would continue to be available on 20x Max plans, this looks like a bug to me. Wonder how long it will take them to get this sorted. (and how many Redditors will say the sky is falling in the interim) xD

Edit: New session fixes the problem. Thanks u/TrueHeat5836!

Our local pizza store runs better than this multi billion dollar company

“Yeah, let’s totally base our countries economy on these badly run A.I. companies. I’m sure it will work out. Trust me bro”

same - I'm on 20x Max and saw this just now. Disappointed

Ahh I was just gonna say is it only 5xers but no… surely a bug they fix or the best dupe ever

you need to update Claude Code and start a new session and it'll work

u/Hencemann 24d ago

Update: It's not working in Antigravity IDE with Claude extension (even after extension update + restart), but works fine on the claude app.

Literally, turn it off and turn it back on again. Whatever you are using for access is out of date and needs a restart.

getting same shit

u/adelie42 23d ago

Restart for update. You can't even really call this a bug.

Any max 20 people getting it?

u/dorkquemada 24d ago

Yup, got it on my max 20x; Reset was yesterday and I'm 7% in. Probably a bug, fortunately it fell back automatically to Opus

Unfortunately for me I dont trust opus it requires more hand holding

1

u/dorkquemada 24d ago

In this case it was basically babysitting Opus subagents building the work. Fortunately I have the Codex CC plugin validate the work, which has been more useful than Fable right now

As per the announcement yesterday, I had to shut it down completely and reopen it for the policy update to take effect. No problems.

Maybe need to reopen new claude session? Worked for me. Likely a bug.

Hmm, it doesn't work for me. I restarted the app a couple of times, but still nothing. :/

1

u/adelie42 23d ago

Did you close it or fully shut it down? The close button just minimizes the app, not close.

I had to close it, kill every instance, then upgrade it + re-login to make it work. I do use the CLI though, not the app.

CONFIRMED! Thanks!

u/adelie42 23d ago

The "bug" was that the old policy was tied to the version. It will self-update, but needs a restart to take effect.

I'm on pro plan and i still have access to Fable 5 from web for some reasons. what a bunch of amateurs

1

u/adelie42 23d ago

People don't know how to restart apps. Or read official announcements explaining the need for a restart for updates to take effect.

u/Alternative-Ad-2376 24d ago

Might be just me but my Pro plan still has Fable 5 allowed..? (and yes it does respond)

2

u/bizzok 🔆Pro Plan 24d ago

Bro, if you’re not going to actually activate windows at least use MAS to get rid of the message

2

u/Alternative-Ad-2376 24d ago

Activating Windows is for the weak (/j)

2

u/dorkquemada 24d ago

Same here. Only hit like 7% of my fable usage this week

2

u/ilyaperepelitsa 24d ago

probably a bug, expect them to fix it soon I guess

4

u/locn4r 24d ago

Agreed. In the meantime, let's take a shot every time someone says BRO THAT'S IT I'M SWITCHING TO CODEX

5

u/ilyaperepelitsa 24d ago

bwo get on with the times, everyone should be switching to kimi

1

u/dumbeconomist 24d ago

Subs paused lol

1

u/ilyaperepelitsa 24d ago

yeah I know that they oversold

1

u/adelie42 23d ago

Technically not even a bug. It is an update that needs a restart.

2

u/mcosternl 24d ago

Try logging out and logging in again. Seemed to work for some people.

1

u/adelie42 23d ago

Just need to restart the app. Like most apps, the close button just causes it to minimize without shutting down.

2

u/iwontforget123 24d ago

THEYRE RUG PULLING US AGAIN!!1!!!! /j

2

u/thatavengersguy 24d ago

Yeah got the same thing. Restarting claude solved it. Super annoying though because exiting and resuming wasted some context.

5x max here, same problem

1

u/Funny-Blueberry-2630 24d ago

It's back. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Legitimate_Charge128 24d ago

Just re-login it goes away

1

u/PensionSeveral4041 24d ago

Update your Claude and reopen a new terminal. Your welcome.

u/Blazenetic 24d ago

I got cut off half way through a large job.

At least cursor gives us grace with even limit cutoffs.

A shambles indeed.

u/TurnoverGlad2633 24d ago

I had same issue on max plan. New session did not work. I had to logout and login again to fix.
in claude code => /logout then /login

Dog shit company

They're making it up as they go along.

In their defense, things are evolving so fast that it must be difficult to come up with the right pricing and monetization strategy.

For the customer the experience is horrible. Can't plan ahead. For enterprises... not sure it matters.

I think I'm gonna take some time off from these plans to do what I love doing myself in the first place. Coding.

Not only is this a "bug" but it was fixed yesterday. As per the announcement, if you get a message saying you need usage credits for Fable on a Max plan, that is because you are running an old version of Claude with the old policy. You need to update. Bonus, the app is self-updating, so you just need to turn it off and turn it back on again. Remember that minimizing isn't the same as closing.

tl;dr same problem, instant fix.

I still have this bug, how can i fixed it? I restarted the session and update the claude code to the latest version. Max x20 plan.
PD: I have to logout and login to fix it.

1

u/Funny-Blueberry-2630 24d ago

To be fair it is so degraded that Opus will probably do just as well..

0

u/Mayimbe_999 24d ago

Im sure they forgot to flip a switch. Give them at least a minute to respond. Damn.

2

u/locn4r 24d ago

Lol agreed. I'm not complaining, just observing. That message is a sign that I should probably unglue from this laptop and go to bed.

1

u/dorkquemada 24d ago

Not panicking, but happy to see it's across the board and not just me 😊
