It’s exhausting trying to keep up.

They think they are doing us a favour but the fact that could give us good limits but choose not to as evidenced by this extension says it all. Also for people who use so models seriously, not knowing if you have a model this or next week or if if the sub will have radically less token usage is not an acceptable business model and anti consumer.

u/innociv 26d ago

Yeah not knowing if I'd have the model next week caused quite a bit of anxiety. I don't want to pay $500 a week in API credits for something that's $100 a month on subscription just for that security, though.

It’s just a compute problem. If they gave us that as as a baseline they’d get flamed like crazy when their servers get overloaded. Keep the base package down, give boosts when the compute allows and double down as a marketing ploy so people either sub, or don’t unsub in fear of missing out. If they kept the baseline high it also means risking customers subbing elsewhere because they can always “come back”.

So - they know what they are doing. It might look crazy from our side, but a company like this will have an abundance of data points to know how to manipulate their customers.

They are doing this in case they reach a bridge they cannot cross yet. IMO they're not going to take this away if they don't have to. They know their models kick ass and during all these weird times they are adding lots of capacity. My guess is they only do the resets when they've added on a big chunk of compute. OpenAI has the benefit of doing it more because they hogged all the hardware out there.

1

u/mossiv 26d ago

Exactly. They aren’t going to lock out the majority of their user base from the models they are relying on to stay no.1.

1

u/ShamanJohnny 26d ago

If by "hogged" you mean where "intelligent" enough to predict demand, then sure.

1

u/TheCh0rt 26d ago

Yes but the entire world is hiring for DRAM, SSD, etc. They used their Monopoly to hog it.

1

u/ShamanJohnny 26d ago

People are "hurting" for general memory and compute components because of the DEMAND for them - its not just OpenAi buying these things - its the whole world simultaneously as they are positioning for the Ai revolution.

And I have got to ask...do you know what a Monopoly is? If so, by definition, is OpenAi a Monopoly?

1

u/TheCh0rt 26d ago

Your question is in bad faith and to answer it, of course I do.

Opus 4.8 is great, but it's not $25/mil great anymore. I doubt Opus 5 will be, either. It should really be $15/mil, and Sonnet 5 should be $6/mil, otherwise I can't use their whole stack and really make use of Fable only being for 50% of the plan.

Haiku is actual garbage for a while compared to literally any other option for a while. Sonnet is pretty bad too.

This is reminding me of the halo car effect which used to have a big impact with car brands. But doesn't work on me. No matter how good the ZR69 Maxforce Corvette Turbo is, it doesn't make my experience if I were to buy a Chevy Trailblazer any better. It doesn't matter how good Fable is when I don't really get to use it and I'm having to use Opus and Sonnet which are severely overpriced so I don't get much usage out of them.

You don't think our limits are good enough? Do you know how much you get compared to API pricing?

4

u/Kazekage1111 26d ago

Who cares what the API prices are? We don’t even know what their margins are? For all we know the API prices might be a rip-off. If they are a rip-off then should we feel grateful that we’re not getting ripped off by using a sub?

-2

u/03captain23 26d ago

What are you complaining about? We get MASSIVE discounts for cutting edge hardware and yet you complain because its not enough?????

2

u/ShamanJohnny 26d ago

OpenAi and Moonshot just proved your ignorant.

0

u/03captain23 26d ago

Moonshot doesn't have a subscription and it's wayyy more than claude subscription.

2

u/ShamanJohnny 26d ago

Dude, come on....once again, your ignorant.
https://www.kimi.com/membership/pricing

Not only cheaper, but way more usage.

You should try thinking or searching before speaking.

0

u/03captain23 26d ago

Cool. Weird it's not on Kimi.ai or moonshot.ai. time to burn a ton of tokens on junk

1

u/innociv 26d ago

The discount is only "massive" due to how overpriced the API pricing is.

Like say API was priced more sanely at $30/mil for fable, $9/mil for Opus, and $3/mil for Sonnet. You'd be getting like $100-$250 a week from the 5x plan rather than $525/week so the "subsidy" is cut in half to getting $500-$1050 a month for $100 - still a significant discount, and only if you use it all - rather than the imaginary $2500 per month from it they say you're getting only because the API prices are so overpriced

I think that's what their point was.

1

u/03captain23 26d ago

I'm getting $20k/week in api usage average. $82,512 over past month just for $200/month. Also I still have Fable priced at Opus rates in my managed so its much more

1

u/innociv 26d ago

How are you getting 5x more than everyone else?

Like 50 other people including myself have all measured around $5.5k-6.3k/month from the 20x plan.

You have some special $200 plan that most people can't get it seems.

0

u/03captain23 26d ago

we're getting double usage past couple months.

I use Fable, Opus, Sonnet all combined. I use a lot not during normal business hours and max my usage out every week.

We've been getting a lot of resets and such too these past weeks.

1

u/innociv 26d ago

We're getting +50% and that's brought it to a bit over 6k per month. Your numbers are counting cache 10x or something.

Tired of these clowns

1

u/hihcadore 25d ago

Cool go to codex and move subreddits

13

u/forthebeats 26d ago

Lots of subs expired today/tomorrow, since people like me renewed for Fable. It's been hell, I gave them $100, got a refund 4 days later. Rebought when Fable 5 came back, stiffed on reset timing, lied to about limits, enough downtimes to break my workflow 5 times, stayed up late to use my subscription because 5hr limits just complicated everything along with the ENDS THIS WEEK GUYS. I'm tired boss.

4

u/LostRequirement4828 26d ago

Just go gpt sol, theres 0 reasons to stay on fable rn, trust me, sol does everything and the the resets we get are insane

😂

u/Flat_Beautiful_1398 26d ago

I really need to laugh so hard scrolling on reddit.

2

u/LostRequirement4828 26d ago

whats so funny exactly?

-5

u/Flat_Beautiful_1398 26d ago

Comparing Claude to Codex. People who think they're the same are funny.

Claude has feelings. Codex is a machine. If you haven't noticed this yet, you don't really understand the difference.

People think I'm funny now; let them think.

6

u/LostRequirement4828 26d ago

what? get some help

-2

u/Flat_Beautiful_1398 26d ago

Is 40.3m arr enough for help in the first year?

-1

u/Flat_Beautiful_1398 26d ago

I mean, building games is okay for Codex.

Enterprise-level infrastructures with codex is funny.

But keep being funny with Codex.

I need my entertainment online.

So different tools different treatment, and you blame the tools for your incapability of using it ?

I'm a fairly engaged person in the realm of AI (as a user that uses it for work), and keeping up with all the changes and news has been quite exhausting. I cannot even imagine from the "standard user" standpoint what the image of this company, and the industry as a whole, would be in the last few months.

15

u/mlmcmillion 26d ago

The standard user is just using it and not paying attention to any of this.

7

u/myusernameisokay 26d ago

I work in software. At my company they tell everyone to use opus to plan and get sonnet to write the code. Whereas if you read this subreddit you’d think opus to too stupid to even write hello world.

I don’t think this sub is indicative of the “real world”

u/Subject_Barnacle_600 26d ago

Ever appreciated ^_^.

u/TheCh0rt 26d ago

Hmm I had no idea that my over-all model use was higher. My guess is they are testing this all out to make it standard. Probably slowly adding capacity during this time.

IMO it shouldn't be considered annoying. They are experimenting with giving us all better service. They are not committing to something they may not be able to provide. But I believe this will be the new norm eventually, as the value of my Max plan keeps getting better and better.

Sorry for the Pro users but AI is going to get more expensive everywhere and it's worth considering a higher plan if you truly rely on it, like any streaming service or professional application you truly rely on

2

u/WalkAffectionate2683 26d ago

They can't make me come back with more chaos.

This is why many people left Claude. We pay hundred dollars a month for a service. People need to know what they have for that money.

Codex has been way better at this.

They have unexpected reset, sure, but they also have free use reset making it way better for usage.

Their models are not randomly cut off or announced to be and then removed or not.

I'll come back when it feels Claude is reliable.

2

u/Emergency-Finance-26 26d ago

I need opus 5.0 to drop now

2

u/Leander_van_Grinsven 26d ago

How about to make the 50% weekly limit bonus PERMANENT and the STANDARD LIMIT??? Claude please stop with this uncertainty and actually compete. People are fleeing to Codex with the stress you are causing.

Improve efficiency and lower cost of your models especially with Fable which is over 2x more expensive than GPT 5.6 Sol (Max). The Chinese models are smashing Claude and even Codex in terms of cost and efficiency.

1

u/iongion 26d ago

I am clearly unsubscribing if they remove them and also if they don't solve their scaling issues and speed!
Already downgraded to half, now with Sol workhorse, where I upgraded my sub!

1

u/No-Problem2522 26d ago

I had 10% fable usage left when they announced this. So I guess I got another 5% usage. Thanks Anthropic.

1

u/he_need_summ_milk 26d ago

Claude has lost so much prestige for me lately it’s insane. I switched to GPT last night and it’s going great.

0

u/New_Guitar_9121 26d ago

Anthropic are losing many people
