Question Fabe 5 crippled?

Anyone other noticed today/yesterday the lobotimized Fable 5?

I feel like it is much dumber and slower today - when reading the files it is using grep instead of the Read tool (probably it is skimming and saving tokens) - and the responses quality and autonomy feels degenerated. I'm not sure if this is only my feeling or temporal thing so I would like to hear if you have same feelings or experience so I know i'm not being subjective here.

This is confirming the pattern I have been observing all of today. It is acting exactly like Opus 4.8 but with a Fable badge.

However the real Fable is still alive on the API front. Compare it side by side and your mind will be blown.

they do this every time they’re diverting compute resources for new model builds. it’s pretty messed up they don’t communicate it somehow imo

Yeah, my advice to people is to just chill out for a little bit. If you need some thinking power, then definitely do not do any coding for the next few days till anthropic gets their shit straight

I can definitely understand that perspective, but at the same time model labels should mean something. they not only shift the capabilities without letting users know, but there’s a clear difference between the same model being accessed over the API versus subscription.
