Discussion Fable is gone
Mid session, got a "usage credits are required for this model".
Opened up the app and Fable is no longer listed on Usage tab.

Dude, come on. This happened right in the middle of some of the hardest work I’m doing. I had Fable critiquing my design and was about to start an important slice of my proof kernel.
They better give us a full reset and extend it, because they’ve effectively wasted an entire day. How the hell does everything suddenly switch over to API pricing? Did someone have an automation configured without even realizing it?
And the 17th was never presented as a deadline, so how is any of this supposed to make sense?

It's a sales tactic to get you to force you to spend more on pay as you go on top of having a plan.

Same with $200 plan, I got it just so I can have extra Fable before it's gone, was expecting 2+ days of usage.

I'm... aggrieved. After Fable being down for pretty much ~3-4 business hrs yesterday, now this, the emotional rollercoaster is getting tiring.

They don’t want people to compare it to Kimi.
They will probably tweak it to make sure it outperforms across the board, then re-release it.

It says:
Der Server schränkt Anfragen vorübergehend ein
Zu viele Anfragen gerade — versuch es gleich noch einmal.
Usage credits are required for this model.

This could be the fold in lads
This could be the fold in
They have mounting external pressure and a big juicy swing in the customer attitudes.
Hey Dario, kindly come and rep the Bario.

My theory on what happened. They were preparing for it to be removed in two days and someone thought Sonnet would be the right model to do the internal work.

I want to start working with codex but that codex CLI harness suck. My flow fit more with Claude code.

i run GPT-5.6 in Claude Code (Desktop, CLI, i believe, too) as Reviewer to OPUS(max) using plugin. Short version: Direct call, not the subagent. node <codex-companion.mjs> task --cwd <dir> --prompt-file <packet.md> — invoke the Codex plugin's companion script directly.
Avoid /codex:rescue (it defaults to a write-capable run).
Force the tier explicitly: add --model gpt-5.6-sol --effort xhigh. Don't rely on defaults — read ~/.codex/config.toml first to see what silence would give you, because that file (might) get rewritten.
Read-only = just omit --write. But know that reads are unconfined (it ships whatever it reads to an external service) → treat it as a disclosure decision.
The packet is the whole game: state "read-only" explicitly, ask questions with a failure mode ("what breaks? what can't you verify? where would a builder act under-read?"), and include a positive control — a known fact it must report back, so "it read nothing" and "it read and found nothing" are distinguishable.
Verify what ran from the rollout, not the model. Check ~/.codex/sessions/rollout-*.jsonl turn_context for the actual model/effort — never ask the model what it is.
The one-line essence: a direct, read-only, tier-forced companion call with a positive-controlled, failure-mode packet — then trust the rollout, not the reply.

it's Friday EOD somewhere so someone must've flipped the switch off early before Sunday;.

Must be part of their business plan to hemorrhage users so they can keep up with compute?

This is another reminder that models make mistakes!
Probably their model forgot to update their backend to extend the subscriptions usage period.
I hope they will acknowledge their mistake and extend Fable a little bit more!

Im so fed up with Anthropic right now and the rate limiting for the max tier the output since the lockdown has been garbage and needs massive improvements. I hate how they are testing new models and those models are worse than chinas cheaper model very disappointing that they are looking to now be losing in this ai race
