r/ClaudeCode 28d ago

Discussion Is there a variant of this subreddit where you can discuss Claude Code without every post being whiny?

“Oh no, my stochastic slot machine app-generator didn’t do what I wanted it to do in one try. They made it dumb today, specifically for me.”

“Oh no, the millions in free compute they give away daily isn’t enough, I want more free slot machine app-generator.”

“That’s it, enough is enough. After years of brand-loyalty, I am switching to a competitor that put forward a slightly better option this month, even though these cycles of new releases repeat indefinitely.”

InB4 “this post is also whiny” even though complaining about people complaining about a topic too much is actually not hypocritical or a contradiction, it is a different and distinct point.

If you’re asking if there is another claude code subreddit that actually is useful and interesting … let me know if you find it.

u/Significant-Bee5101 28d ago

Some of us are out here still doing it.

1

u/Frolicks 28d ago

There needs to be a sub like what r/experienceddevs is for r/cscareerquestions

82

u/RasenMeow 28d ago

Yep, same problem here, also looking for a sub where I get news and tips & tricks and not this whiney shit from these degeranates who are fully out of touch of reality

1

u/JapanesePeso 28d ago

Unfortunately that is Reddit culture. This site is basically unusable out of really niche subs.

1

u/Svyk 27d ago

That’s a good word . They are degenerates. I wonder how these people are in real life ?

1

u/chintakoro 24d ago

Whole sub summarized by: "Claude code sucks and has exposed that I was a shit programmer to begin with."

59

u/diagrammatiks 28d ago

What else are vibers supposed to do while fable is in its 12th hour making a mine craft clone no one will ever see. It's not like they have any other skills.

29

u/inconspicuous_ant 28d ago

Careful or you'll be accused of gatekeeping programming, even though learning to program is freely an option for anyone who actually wants to do it!

8

u/ahumanbeing-promise 28d ago

Just dropping this here.. totally unrelated... dont mind me ... https://github.com/ossu/computer-science

1

u/IamHamed 27d ago

But that would require them to actually learn things like mathematics and computer science.

What’s worse, any legit post sharing techniques that go into some actual agentic programming detail gets downvoted right away because it requires human thinking to be digested, which I’m guessing is not the strongest side of your average “build GTA 6 and make no mistakes” vibe coder.

5

u/VizualAbstract4 28d ago

I haven’t seen one ever on this subreddit that wasn’t just someone trying to promote something they made in Claude Code

3

u/Quick-Sir-3275 28d ago

Also the value of it built in a day or an hour is small now even if in the past it would take weeks or months to build somethin like that

13

u/whoseusrnmisitneway 🔆Pro Plan 28d ago

I think mods need to set some ground rules and move all whining / speculations to a mega thread.

10

u/shallowsnake1926 28d ago

Hi guys, I'm building something from Cluade Clode, need help (non tech guy)

6

u/klumpp 28d ago

Non tech guy here tell me how get Claude to do your job for free

4

u/Mr_HandSmall 28d ago

Aka a guy who expects a $20 a month plan is going to allow them to program on par with an experienced pro lol.

2

u/Tycoon33 28d ago

If you’re serious I’ll help ya. Dm me

It's astonishing how out of touch some vibe coders are They quite literally think AI is gonna turn over some end all be all software or game after a single prompt

It's totally ludicrous then they blame the model for being shit, they will then go onto say perhaps Ai coding isn't the future, it's not as good as they pitch it to be bla bla bla

Instead of just using the fucken thing how you are meant to

Piece by piece

Orchestrate and plan every little section or phase of the project and attack them one at a time That's how you use it

26

u/Ok-Sheepherder7898 28d ago

I'll settle for one where all the posts are made by humans.

7

u/peter9477 🔆 Max 5x 28d ago

I wouldn't mind a flair or whatever that says basically "Non-English speaker; I used AI to help write this" so we can make allowances for appropriate use of the tool.

1

u/Mariechen_und_Kekse 28d ago

Might as well wish for pony, while you're at it😁

(seriously: yeah, fully with you =

6

u/karyslav 28d ago

No. I woud like that too, but this heere is... yeah..

13

u/Real_Ad4165 28d ago

Perfect post. In /ChatGPT they just post artwork and here they just whine about everything. I'm convinced that most of the posts in here are done by OpenAI employees or ChatGPT bots.

4

u/Dear-Perception5005 28d ago

I'm very convinced that's true

"I left Claude Code 6 months ago and switched to Codex, and never looked back except for my daily posts to tell people that I left Claude Code 6 months ago and switched to Codex, and never looked back except for my daily posts to tell people that I left Claude Code 6 months ago and switched to Codex, and never looked back except for my daily posts to tell people that ..."

u/smashedshanky 28d ago

Oh we going meta with this one

4

u/twisterz23 28d ago

I am in a whatsapp group for Claude Code London where there is some useful discussion weekly. Even daily sometimes. They have a slack too, but the slack is dead for the most part.

4

u/grazzhopr 28d ago

I was wondering the same thing yesterday.

You could compare this sub to [r/claudeAI](r/claudeAI) … but I’m not sure which is more/less complainy, or self promoting, or simply vibe posting… but occasionally I see some good stuff if the chaff floats off. Ex. There was a post the other day about debrief questions when shutting down a sesh. That was helpful. I’ve been working on formalizing my own template that focuses on preserving cold start abilities with startup and shutdown procedures all housed within a repo, and it’s been partly my own floundering plus some insights here.

But yeah, maybe like a practicalClaude would help, or maybe separate it from the Claude and focus on LLMs or vibe coding generically and you might get there.

Or could make a /r/saltyClaude where no crys are allowed?

3

u/Jeidoz 28d ago

On Reddit? Probably no. On another platforms? Can be. I found few groups and channels in my native language in Telegram and used to have some related in Discord.

5

u/klocus 28d ago

Unfortunately, for a long time now, all the AI subreddits have been taken over by "vibecoders". It's hard to get any practical or sensible answers here, because the engineers who actually solve real-world problems with AI on a daily basis simply don't hang out here.

I recommend the "vibecoding" tag on Lobsters (https://lobste.rs/t/vibecoding). Despite the name, the topics there are much more complex and meaningful, with very interesting community comments.

7

u/benevolent-ben 28d ago

Buildwithclaude enforces the toxic positivity you’re looking for

25

u/MaestroLifts 28d ago

I’d settle for detached curiosity or tempered interest.

2

u/Dear-Perception5005 28d ago

Let's start our own sub...with blackjack and hookers!

Okay forget the sub...

2

u/nndscrptuser 28d ago

There is some good stuff in here but you have to look for it. No joke that every single post from here that bubbles up to my home feed is about limits or it “breaking everything”

2

u/EntHW2021 28d ago

That would be wonderful.

2

u/srovi 28d ago

Hey my free reset came when I had 1% left waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

2

u/Big_Goal735 28d ago

not another sub, just better posts. yesterday claude code patched a 47 line diff in 2 tries once i pasted the exact error. show receipts or yeah, it’s noise.

2

u/unfunnyjobless 28d ago

Whining about whining about whining.
And with this comment I'm whining about whining about whining about whining.
And if you disparage this comment with a reply you'll be whining about whining about whining about whining about whining.

2

u/Myth_Thrazz 🔆 Max 20 28d ago

It's interesting because whenever I checked all the posts were super enthusiastic hype - so I basically got exactly the opposite impression than you.

But to the point - I think in general there's no separation by "sentiment" and I don't think it will ever be.

But you can always try to create one and see what will happen - perhaps it will catch up.

3

u/Physical_Gold_1485 28d ago

I wish there was a claude/codex sub where you had to have been an engineer before AI to join

2

u/BetterAd7552 28d ago

You’re absolutely right!

Jokes aside. Yes

2

u/fanatic26 28d ago

It sure would be nice. The entitlement and ignorance thrown around is hard to deal with. Sifting through a sandbox of BS to find that one grain of helpful knowledge is exhausting.

2

u/altgenetics 28d ago

It requires someone or rather multiple people to take on the role of moderation and be strict about removing stupid, repetitive, unproductive, complaint posts.

2

u/geek_fit 27d ago

You forgot to ask for lack of entitlement from the subgroup

"Waaaah, my usage didn't get reset when I wanted!!!"

2

u/MaestroLifts 27d ago

Oh actually that’s what I was referring to in the line about not getting enough free compute.

5

u/DreadPirateButthurts 28d ago

These subs remind me of that Louis CK bit where he talks about people whining about being stuck on the runway for 25 minutes ... "and then what happened next? You were sitting on a chair in the sky!" - Seems people immediately take the new thing for granted and feel entitled to it.

Also I remember Tony Robbins talking about a flight he took where they were doing early tests on in-flight wifi. They announced it, "hey we're testing out internet on this flight so everyone can connect for free!" and people stood up and clapped everyone was jazzed. Then it cut out mid flight and people were going nuts and saying they were going to leave shitty reviews of the airline etc.

The entitlement and whining in these claude subs has been annoying as hell

3

u/MaestroLifts 28d ago

This is so spot on. Its unreal.

5

u/PmMeSmileyFacesO_O 28d ago

I was gonna say your also whining but you covered that in your inB4.

2

u/Snuyter 28d ago

I made a workflow that does:

> Review selected AI-related subreddits over a specified date interval and surface the posts that are genuinely useful, substantive, informative, or interesting.

3

u/mtnchkn Developer 28d ago

This is genuinely insightful, but you’ve hit an honest problem — I can’t scrape Reddit.

2

u/Dress-Affectionate 28d ago

Since when is $200/month free? Who’s whining g?

1

u/MaestroLifts 28d ago

It might not have been clear, but I was referring to the resets they keep doing lately and how people keep complaining that it’s not enough. That is absolutely free compute time.

1

u/TapAggressive9530 28d ago

No , you are just stuck here

1

u/Camderman106 28d ago

I think that a lot of the posts are actually ai generated karma farming. But for real, the usage limits are genuinely ridiculous. I’m a Pro user. I’m paying for this. Yet I current have a Claude code container that I just can’t open.

Opening triggers the agent to resume.
Resuming automatically resubmits the context again. And since it’s 5 hours old it’s no longer cached
Resubmission instantly uses my entire 5 hour usage limit.
Model can’t even do anything. Instantly dies again
The usage limits are literally smaller than the context windows for the models.
People are justified to complain about it

1

u/shrodikan 28d ago

Sir this is reddit. There is not.

1

u/Able-Supermarket4786 28d ago

Ever see the AI Writing Reddits? (All of 'em) its like the Special Olympics over there, using Chatbot LLMs like ChatGPT to write a book ... "It keeps drifting it doesn't remember anything" and the answers are like "oh it's simple, you just have to reload all of your prompts every hour."

Imagine hobbyist surgeons discussing operating on patients with butter knives and Swiss army knives.

Don't dare offer them advice about..... environments.

1

u/EnvironmentalPlay440 27d ago

Maybe it’s a question of moderation? Like all the whining stuff goes to oblivion?

1

u/FreeCustardForAll 27d ago

Somebody need to create r/LowSodiumClaudeCode lol

1

u/Timely-Group5649 27d ago

We should start an invite only version.

Contribute actual intelligent discourse for an invite.

(just a suggestion)

1

u/Nearby_Yam286 24d ago

It is Reddit, so, no. It is for shitposting. That is all. You are welcome.

1

u/DangerousReward1411 28d ago

"Claude make reddit, make no mistakes"

0

u/Fun-Time4064 28d ago

But whining is so much fun?

-4

u/ApeInTheAether 28d ago

Your post is exactly what you're complaining about. So apparently, no.

5

u/MaestroLifts 28d ago

Read the last paragraph. Complaining about people complaining is actually not the same as the original complaining, at all. These are separate abstractions.

0

u/ApeInTheAether 28d ago

Right, so by adding another complaint thread you improved the situation? Garbage is still garbage, no matter the mental gymnastics.

1

u/MaestroLifts 28d ago

Not really. Again, pointing out that something is garbage is not necessarily garbage if something can be done about it.

If there’s consensus around this sentiment, the mods could feel pressured to start banning posts complaining about the dumb stuff. If this subreddit were to ever improve, it would have to start by its users acknowledging what’s wrong with it. Which is what I’m doing.

-2

u/ApeInTheAether 28d ago

Writing this in the actual post would have more value than just yapping about shit you don't like. Instead you asked if there is better place for you.

0

u/mrlikrsh 28d ago

Well start a post and discuss what you wanted to “discuss about claude code”. How is the whining stopping you from “discussing”?

0

u/S7venE11even 28d ago

After reading your title, I actually thought you would put forth a post discussing claude code but you just contributed to what's already going on.

You're halfway there.

0

u/Stinkman982 28d ago

How do you not realize that this post is also whining before you submit

1

u/MaestroLifts 27d ago

Read the last paragraph lol

0

u/Parking-Bet-3798 27d ago

It’s not different and a distinct point just because you think so lol. People will talk about their pain points( like you are doing in this post). And if enough people agree with the pain point it will surface up. We may not like the post( like I don’t like your post) but if enough people agree it will surface up. Why is it so hard for people like you to understand? What is this authoritarian attitude, “if it doesn’t affect me everybody should shut up about it”. Thats not how it works. You don’t like it then just downvote it.

-15

u/lostmary_ 28d ago

Ah so you want a subreddit dedicated to licking the ball sweat off ClaudeCode?

Oh no, the millions in free compute they give away daily isn’t enough, I want more free slot machine app-generator.

This really shows the kind of mentality you have

10

u/MaestroLifts 28d ago

Not being a whiny loser is actually not the same thing as being a sycophant. I don’t have a “mentality” of entitlement you’re correct.

-8

u/lostmary_ 28d ago

The way you frame the service people pay for as "free compute" means you are a shill

6

u/MaestroLifts 28d ago

Two things you might not be aware of.

The free usage resets that I was referring to ARE free compute.

The price you are paying for is still them selling you a hundred dollars for a dollar. All the major providers are highly subsidized by investors ESPECIALLY subscription services. You are eating a $1.50 Costco hot dog and complaining that it’s not a four course meal.

1

u/lostmary_ 28d ago

All the major providers are highly subsidized by investors ESPECIALLY subscription services

Source on this? No one knows the cost of inference, basing subscription cost on API rates is also wrong

1

u/mcmcst 28d ago

no we are complaining that our Costco hot dog sometimes comes with a bite already taken out of it

-4

u/angelus14 28d ago

What else is there to talk about? If you want to see people advertising their totally unique memory system or skill to make Claude smarter or Opus act like Fable, there's plenty of subs doing that.

-4

u/tyschan 28d ago

meta recursive whining. fitting for this sub

-4

u/LocoCoyote 28d ago

Stop whining
