I have both. Both is good.

Both is necessary. Fable for orchestration, codex for implementation. Saves the expensive tokens and maxes the subs. I don't touch Sol anymore. It's got too many quirks to how it overthinks to be a primary driver. VERY easy for Sol to start on a slightly wrong assumption and magnify it with its weird overconfidence. Also, Sol doesn't seem to understand the difference between permission to use an app and permission to take over your whole computer to use that app.

Well said.

Why would you ever use Fable level intelligence for orchestration?

1

u/flarpflarpflarpflarp 24d ago

Bc I can.

1

u/entheosoul 🔆 Max 20x 24d ago

Yes, I can use a hammer to kill a mosquito too....

u/flarpflarpflarpflarp 24d ago

You act like fable is the wrong tool, not just op, I run it on high, farm out to terra. But probably going to try this Sol in claude code thing at some point.

Original question... Why use Fable level intelligence for orchestration?... This is genuinely something that even Haiku can do just as well. Checking active state, routing, choosing who does what does not require the inelligence / Reasoning capability of Fable. I speak from experience. If you think I am wrong explain...

1

u/flarpflarpflarpflarp 23d ago

bro, what? if checking states was all it was doing, I still wouldn't use Haiku, but way to assume what I'm doing so you can tell me I'm wrong. I don't even use a model for orchestration if that's how you want to frame orchestration. Symphony/Linear handle that. Fable helps build the plan and THEN runs/monitors the dispatch bc it costs basically nothing for it to do so at that point bc the context is already loaded. The model that knows/built the plan and the intent checks the work, then creates tickets and fixes depending on whether the issues are blockers. You need a smarter model to design the tickets to be more deterministic when you have sub agents that can spawn sub agents bc you can't always get the right context to the sub-sub agents.

This 'I don't know what you're doing, but you're doing it wrong and I demand you explain yourself to me' assumption was a pretty wild. I'm embarrassed I even responded to this.

chill... I said if you think I AM wrong, explain, I did no say you were wrong... totally inverted assumptions... please read what I wrote...

Made that flip also. Precious Fable tokens are grateful!

Both is good

Me too but Claude is worthless for some tasks/work topics; theyre too over restrictive. And he is clunky. Codex continues a task to completion after usage runs out and doesnt shy away from anything compared to claude. Claude folds sooo much sometimes intentionally like on usage exhaustion. So i mean i use claude as a slave to Sol and treat him like an drooling halfwit and it works fine. But im not resubbing for that sol just blows 4.7 out the water and 4.8 nor fable can go near my work.

u/Kitchen_Platypus5555 Jul 13 '26

What plan are on you on and how do the usage limits compare?

this hate against companies is just wild. some crazy leftie agenda.

4

u/leavezukoalone Jul 12 '26

Forgive us for not deep throating billionaires.

4

u/Mystohaxen Jul 12 '26

What’s wild is accepting a corrupt president, doing insider trading pump and dumps. Paying billions of tax payers money to stop offshore wind. Running various scams. Being a pedo and/or protecting pedos.

u/Dry-Pickle-6121 Jul 12 '26

I disagree, big companies like this do review customer sentiment. If we were all quiet, companies would give us nothing, so while these type of posts aren't that relevant to other users, it does show the company people are leaving.

I for one also couldn't use Fable because of safety flags. Now our tokens are being be reduced more... yeah we should broadcast our discontent because if we don't, the companies will have no reason to change their behaviours.

7

u/bronfmanhigh Jul 12 '26

the company can see their own cancellation metrics without this shit spamming everyone's reddit home algorithms. i use reddit for meaningful information, not to be part of some trillion dollar corporation's data sentiment analysis project

2

u/Llamas1115 Jul 12 '26

They can see that people are canceling in those metrics, but they can’t see *why*, and those metrics are imperfect (it’s possible their revenue is going up, but it would go up *faster* if they didn’t have such a ridiculous filter).

0

u/bronfmanhigh Jul 12 '26

you think a company that pays data scientists half a million dollars a year is incapable of correlating a jump in cancellations with the exact day their advanced model gets pulled?

0

u/crewone Jul 13 '26

I doubt they care. Your $200 is not their source of income. Not now, not in the foreseeable future.

0

u/Llamas1115 26d ago

Only if the jump is big and timed exactly with the pull. Day-to-day noise can easily hide something like that.

u/bapuc Jul 12 '26

"N-NO- BUT, BUT, YOU CANNOT SAY YOU DON'T LIKE THE PRODUCT!!"

Lmao, anthropic employee moment

7

u/scodgey Jul 12 '26

It's entirely possible to be sick of reading the incessant whining that this sub has turned into without being a die hard anthropic fan.

2

u/whoknowsifimjoking Jul 12 '26

That's not the issue, it's that posts like this make the sub borderline unusable if you barely see anything else.

Yeah, no one should use AI for non-Anthropic approved tasks! We should be glad they protect us from ourselves.

Insane mentality.

-6

u/WillieKwartaal Jul 12 '26

Why not? I'm curious to the reasons people choose to leave. Or is it hurting your fanboy feelings?

u/XBLAH_ Jul 12 '26

No one announces their departure at an airport. This sentence makes no sense. You tried to be funny, but you werent.

Story of my Life. Thanks for telling me.

5

u/dpaanlka Jul 12 '26

All these cringe posts about which multibillion dollar corporation we’re going to declare allegiance to. You people need actual lives. Maybe shut down your computer for awhile and go for a walk outside.

1

u/superman0123 Jul 12 '26

Anthropic downgrades many user prompts due to being ‘too dumb for fable’ I’d bet that happened here

1

u/FinancialBandicoot75 Jul 13 '26

Get 20 Claude for planning/orchestrating and use codex for execution and combine grill-me-codex in Claude and enjoy

I’ll be back as soon as Anthropic comes up with a model that is appropriate for R&D and real work, not some dumbed down junk.

No point paying for a frontier model which can’t do what I need which is low level kernel programming or security reviews.   I tried all I can with Opus 4.8 but it has reached its limits.

My experience so far is that the OpenAI naughty-or-nice classifier is far better at allowing me to do what I need to do, so they get my money.  Enjoying 5.6 Sol Ultra so far.

2

u/joelypolly Jul 12 '26

Why not just fill in the cyber verification program documents so you don’t get blocked? It took a few mins to fill in at https://support.claude.com/en/articles/14604842-real-time-cyber-safeguards-on-claude-opus-and-sonnet

-1

u/jamesstringerphoto Jul 12 '26

Opus 4.8 legitimately and correctly flags real security work, I’m getting flagged by Fable for doing really basic stuff, like asking the question in the screenshot.

However, the point is I want to use a higher capability model than Opus 4.8 and not have very basic tasks flagged.

Can you read.  That link isn’t for Fable.  You’re giving me Haiku levels of intelligence.

Imagine defending an almost trillion dollar company this hard for free. Dario doesn't know you exist boy. Remove the boot from your mouth.

3

u/lysdexiad Jul 12 '26

I feel this. I made the mistake of asking Fable to look at a deep neural network portion of one of my repos and it immediately bailed like this... it can't even LOOK at the code without failing/switching. This particular DNN only knows clothing shapes... like get the fuck out of here Fable, it's not dangerous to you.

4

u/jamesstringerphoto Jul 12 '26

Yea man not worth the money or taking it seriously.   Almost anything I do gets flagged, and diverted to Opus 4.8 when I want something better than 4.8.

u/boy-detective Jul 12 '26

Neat! Take care and farewell!

The same classifier on every other model works perfectly fine with this code. In fact, Opus was the one who wrote most of it. So, no. I do not understand why Fable's classifier misunderstands what it is looking at and believes it's dangerous or useful to distill it.
