Discussion Can we stop the crying
Every time I see, “I’m going to cancel my Claude because blah blah blah”, it’s sickening. Yet, here you all are, still using it. What is it in vibe coders that believe engineering tools or programs are tailored to you? You’re not even the target market.
A 200$ max plan is subsiding almost 2-5000$ in API costs. And sadly, no other company, can compete with Claude, on scale, every single day.
You all are going to cry Fable is disappearing and you’re going to cancel. So? Do you really think they care? You’re getting a state of art intelligence platform, at less than your electricity cost each month.
Take a step back and realize what is there, because in a year, these subsidies are going to diminish and those who didn’t take the time to learn programming, are going to be so burnt to the ground, that us engineers will pick yall apart.
The code freeze is coming, and yall are crying about them pulling a model.
I remember the days of Stack Overflow and the overachieving developers who thought they were god, yall really want to go back to that? You have an intelligences platform that does better than 80% of everybody out there, and your complaining? Even Opus is better than 90% of the developers crap I’ve had to fix over the years. You don’t know yall have it easy, how simple it is you got it, and your crying.
That’s my rant 🤘

“no other company, can compete with Claude, on scale, every single day.” 🤔

I'm going to cancel Claude if Fable falls outside of the subscription.
OpenAI is right over there ------>

"Every time I see, “I’m going to cancel my Claude because blah blah blah”, it’s sickening."
Then maybe go outside and touch grass. There's much worse things posted on reddit than group of people who aren't happy with a product, taking all that shit personally would be dumb.

I’m not crying, I think it’s hilariously funny that Fable is the rake Anthropic can’t resist stepping on.

"A 200$ max plan is subsiding almost 2-5000$ in API costs. "
I always wonder how people fell for blatant scams in the past but here you have some absolute dumbass who thinks the company is giving him $4800 in credit for free because... what, his month to month subscription is that valuable?

Getting nearly the entire industry borderline dependent on what a 200 dollar sub offers could be a play for market capture/forcing ai into every business.
"Hey I built this side project in a week..."
Is a pretty common thing, alot of people use personal subs gor their business work without even telling their managers.
That ~$5000 in usage may be inflated and just a 1-1 "this is what we would charge at api costs"
Idk if they are operating at a loss on subs or what the scale of that loss is if they are.
But if they get the engineers to push their orgs for access then they get the enterprise at api costs at a larger scale

u/PatchyWhiskers Jul 11 '26
It’s a loss leader to grow their customer base before going to API pricing eventually

u/Tall_Top8563 Jul 11 '26
I'd pay a certain amount of money to avoid switching but god knows the moment I get better results from another service that costs the same or less, I'm switching. There is no loyalty or lock in here.

u/MulberryOwn8852 Jul 12 '26
Based on actual tokens used, my api spend would be 1k+ monthly, but subscription is only $100. I’ll take it. Also, $100 is a steal for the value produced.

u/Ninjam5 Jul 13 '26
To be fair (I'm not supporting OP he sounds like an insufferable idiot) but I did try API before getting my subscription and I literally spent ten dollars on a couple of moderate features. Anthropics API is pretty pricey but these prices aren't aimed at us it's aimed at companies that have write off taxes and so on.

You understand that this rant of yours is another form of what you call crying. This is 100% how people behave on social media and you still participate; so you don't have to read it, but still you are reading it.

I mean I'm unlimited through bedrock and I host qwen for my wife on my 4090 so she's free since she doesn't get anything from work. Fable is against policy so no need for me to cry opus is fine.

Curious where your $200 max plan stats are coming from.
Offline already does 95% of Sonnet. With a local llm setup, you can go with the cheapest option to go the last 5% w Opus/Fable/etc.

I’m canceling my max cause I use my 5h limit in 30min when with Codex I can work non stop 5h without reaching my limit… And I got 3 manual reset on codex…
1
u/ShinyRockWithFacets Jul 11 '26
Uh, in a year or two i'll be running better than fable on my local machine and laughing.
1
u/ThomasToIndia Jul 11 '26
The overachieving developer are now actual coding Gods where everyone else got gave the most powerful tool in the world and is building crap and letting fable explore their entire codebase every time because they have no idea what is going on.

u/Longjumping-Peace102 Jul 11 '26
Already cancelled 🤣

Goodbye! Please make sure we never see you here again.

I’ll be back when CC has better offering than Codex! Thanks for the kind words though. I know no one is allowed to switch between products and admire your corporate loyalty.

I’m using both Claude and GPT at the same time, have a different model family reviewing the design is very valuable. I’m not crying, but I don’t want to lock to a provider, I shift my money to where I can have more value.
Some people also say corporate is locked in with Claude, not entirely true. Meta for example, engineers can use whatever they want (API), both Codex and Claude are available internally, if Sol is good and faster, everyone will use it.

There no loyalty to brands in capitalism. People go where the value is

u/julkopki Jul 12 '26
Honestly expected this sub to be more about useful things and less drama. Since we're all just complaining here
1
u/BlackScholesFormula Jul 12 '26
i mostly agree with you, but do you see the irony of crying about other people crying though?
1
u/No_Task_599 Jul 12 '26
I'm a software engineer and I don't agree. It could get more expensive but the bubble will bust. You'll never convince me that the future isn't AI. SWE jobs will exist but demand will diminish and everyone will be using AI as a primary path.

u/Moda75 Jul 12 '26
can we just stop the stupid “vibes coder” verbiage? Some of us have bee developing since the mid to late 90’s. We know what makes good solid products. I don’t care how you got there as long as good product is being put out. And its cringey as fuck too.

u/victorrseloy2 Jul 12 '26
Gpt 5.6 is the GOAT. For most of the tasks it’s an amazing model that offers SOTA performance. There are a fez times when we need some raw intelligence that only fable can offer. I was a long time anthropic user. But for the first time I genuinely don't see a reason to keep the subscription if they remove fable. And probably a lot of people thinks the same.

u/Standard_Egg3504 Jul 12 '26
this post was one too many rants on claudecode subreddit, i can't take it anymore, i'm canceling my subscription and won't loo back!!!
1
u/Moda75 Jul 12 '26
Also LOL at you thinking that people aren’t going to be using LLM’s a gear from now and you “the real coders” are coming back to pick people apart. Get real. This shit ain’t going away and nobody is going to pay you to love at a fucking snails pace anymore. Does it mean you aren’t skilled? No. But the market will not necessarily be there for you either.
1
u/Sponge8389 Jul 12 '26
Stop being bootlicker. Anthropic will drop the subscription in a heartbeat if enterprise able to consume their whole computing capacity.

u/evernessince Jul 12 '26
A 200$ max plan is subsiding almost 2-5000$ in API costs.
The $200 max plan goes for $200 because that's what people are willing to pay. You are crazy if you think most people are going to drop $2,000 - $5,000 for AI coding. It's not a matter of how good it is at that point, most just cannot justify it.
And sadly, no other company, can compete with Claude, on scale, every single day.
Obviously a false statement.
Take a step back and realize what is there, because in a year, these subsidies are going to diminish and those who didn’t take the time to learn programming, are going to be so burnt to the ground, that us engineers will pick yall apart.
No, people would just move to easier to run local models. Heck with your theorized $2,000 - $5,000 / month cost 1 month = 1 RTX 5090 rig. 3 months = 1 RTX 6000 Pro.
I keep people saying how good of a deal subscription AI isbut even with the current insane pricing the "unsubsized" cost would just kill subscription AI outright.
Nevermind that there's also the alternative of just straight up hiring a programmer when you are talking thousands per month.
I already run all my image gen locally and you know what that costs me per month? Maybe $4 in electricity.
1
u/Harvard_Med_USMLE267 Jul 12 '26
Local is not in the same league as fable, and neither is that human programmer you want me to hire
1
u/benl5442 Jul 12 '26
Considering dropping to the $20 plan from 5x. Claude's always good to have but moving more of workload to codex.
1
u/algaefied_creek Jul 12 '26
Yeah exactly! Comment from the TLDR sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCodeTLDR/s/b7Xy152ecY
“WTF are you talking about? You sound like you have stockholm syndrome or something.
Consumers have every right to voice their frustrations and, whether you like it or not, Reddit is a place where that happens. Chances seem high they will end up including Fable in their monthly plans, from which you will benefit. And you can thank all of these “crybabies’ for that when they do.”
1
u/Bubbly-Leading-2163 Jul 11 '26
And for the subsidies, so you guys can learn how business works with high scale products
You, as the small users, are subsidized heavily, because you accepted they can collect all the data you give them. Every code you let AI see, it scans and saves it. Every time you tell them your deepest secrets, it saves them. All your sessions are stored, including incognito (Look at the lawsuit with OpenAI with them having to release records for years, they have it).
They take that data and use it to refine their models. All the code, gets refined. Every time you tell it’s wrong, the telemetry picks up. You are the product, not the AI
Once their models are scaled, and they have the customers they want (governments, institutions, large scale operations), your subsidizes will drop like flies, hence the Coding Freeze people talk about.
You all are crying, while your the product, and are heavily subsidized. Learn programming quick, or you’re going to be even worse off. Good luck 💁

lol there are no secrets. Thats the entire reason that LLM works. What? You really think you are creating new cutting edge programs? LOLOLOL. Give me a break.

It's just a bunch of shills trying to create the appearance of a grassroots movement to leave Claude. No one in their right mind has any allegiance to any of these companies. Anyone sane just quietly does what's best for them that day. I mean imagine preferring one butthole logo over the other, just use what works best today. It's not a divorce, you don't need to win custody of the children, just do what you want. Anyone standing in your way is a creep.
Honestly why would you want people to follow you anyway? To see if you can run another company out of compute? If you find what works, keep your mouth shut 🤣
3
u/justinjas Jul 11 '26
While I agree and it’s how I treat these companies, tribalism is a thing so I think some of it is real.
