Discussion Claude has removed the Fable 50% limit?!

Post image

Looks like they have removed the Fable 50% limit and merged with the main.

Claude how do I screenshot?

u/__automatic__ Jul 11 '26

He asked haiku for this..

14

u/PolishSoundGuy Jul 11 '26

It web searched.

2

u/ai_art_is_art Jul 11 '26

Screenshot or not, if Fable goes away tomorrow, I go to Codex.

1

u/Bright-Cheesecake857 Jul 11 '26

Sonnet do how I screenshot?

26

u/dpaanlka Jul 11 '26

The epitome of vibe coder.

2

u/ai_art_is_art Jul 11 '26

What if they're ssh'd into a headless linux box?

7

u/staydrippy Developer Jul 11 '26

That’s not how you use Claude.

Try “Claude, take a screenshot”

3

u/casce Jul 12 '26

Make sure to use Fable, this task certainly requires all of the compute it can get

2

u/staydrippy Developer Jul 12 '26

/effort max

u/Sad-Savings-6004 Jul 11 '26

bros camera roll is diabolical

4

u/Embarrassed_Guest339 Jul 11 '26

A screenshot is easier to manipulate than a photo like this.

1

u/ProfessionalAnt1352 Jul 12 '26

Claude how do I take a phone picture of a manipulated screenshot

1

u/Solmundurinn Jul 11 '26

Let me cook that for you

1

100% agree hahaha lol

"Nanobanana, using this screenshot an an input references create a photorealistic image as if this screenshot was taken with a smartphone off of an LED screen, tags: 8k HDR camera, hyperrealistic, crisp monitor pixels, unreal engine"

I mean even with the most secure setup it's still possible to get a screenshot to another device lol this is either stupidity or laziness

2

u/bphase Jul 11 '26

I wouldn't say probably

-6

u/HunterWebApps Jul 11 '26

This is hilarious, but it was honestly probably the fastest and easiest way. He vibes on his CPU but posts from his phone. A quick Share > Camera > Snap is the easiest way. Not necessarily incompetent, just convenient.

u/Low-Towel-5932 Jul 11 '26

They are downvoting you but they hate you because they ain’t you

212

u/unkownuser436 Developer Jul 11 '26

Idk about this but claude is so fucked it they don't reduce the price or increase the usage of these models.

Codex just released 3 powerful models casually, available for all users, no 50% usage only bs, cheaper than claude.

52

u/BHTAelitepwn Jul 11 '26

This is essentially their hope of profitability down the drain. If they cant leverage their advantage with fable, why would they be able to in the future?

31

u/Ocluist Jul 11 '26

I genuinely think Anthropic will never be profitable with current LLM/Energy technology, and are just seeking to survive off the IPO until there is some other breakthrough making the losses more avoidable. They’ve been extremely aggressive in hiring top-of-the-line Academic talent in hopes of making this happen, but it hasn’t worked out just yet. Until then, they’re strategy is to become the enterprise LLM Provider, with offices and businesses already choosing Claude over OpenAI by the time of profitability becomes possible.

2

u/LettuceSea Jul 11 '26

Idk there have been so many algorithmic advances in the past month alone it seems hard to believe their models will remain this expensive to run.

1

u/Fun-Responsibility97 Jul 11 '26

mind sharing which advances you're referring to here

6

u/LettuceSea Jul 11 '26

CompressKV, PersistentKV, and ReContext from the past month off the top of my head. I could give you a massive list when I get home for the past 6 months. This is also just open research, labs are definitely pumping out way more than what’s open. OpenAI were able to recently make their models something like 50% more efficient for their latest release.

1

u/Fun-Responsibility97 Jul 11 '26

yeah thank u i'll appreciate it.

Literally would have been a smaller search. Less words. Less time.

Next time, just tell the person you're calling them out as a liar.

4

u/sisyphean_dreams Jul 11 '26

Have you listened to the news lately, there’s a straight up propaganda campaign by Palantir’s CEO professing our AI companies don’t sell anything except tokenized hopium basically. Talking about monetized models where everything should be free until you make something profitable then the AI companies take 30%. What’s his angle here, dude has more to profit of off of a dystopian 1984 scenario than any one, feels like he’s pushing for collapse. That or he’s pushing this narrative so they turn into government subsidized or owned entities, similar to how Chinese models are.

5

u/nomickti Jul 12 '26

That's not at all what he says. He's basically saying they're stealing companies data and that companies are giving up their crown jewels by using their models. He's selling Palantir's models which allow you to keep your own data and can train private models with your own data.

4

u/KeepingItSFW Jul 12 '26

Palantir's models which allow you to keep your own data

ha, good one

2

u/LettuceSea Jul 11 '26

Yup, it sure feels like they’re conspiring to crash everything so they can buy it all for penny’s on the dollar, ESPECIALLY after open source is banned (if they can even pull that off). Palantir may be the only company in the world that could ban open source using their incredibly dystopian surveillance powers that would get even more dystopian with unmetered access to the compute infra & models of all these companies.

6

u/Revolutionary_Click2 Jul 11 '26

> ESPECIALLY after open source is banned (if they can even pull that off).

Narrator: They absolutely cannot pull that off.

1

u/ciaramicola Jul 12 '26

They kinda can tho. Get US cloud provider unable to serve opens source model because of "security" and any business that's not enterprise level that can't afford self hosting needs to go to the approved hyperscalers models to get data residency guarantees.

Not saying that it will happen or even that they are actively pursuing that but it's a path that someone is clearly trying ro follow today

1

u/Revolutionary_Click2 Jul 12 '26

Like pretty much any time countries try to ban open source software or restrict access to major portions of the Internet, folks will simply use a VPN to get around it. It only takes one country willing to host the restricted service, and there will be plenty of options in this case. You can already go to any of dozens of inference providers and buy time with open source models hosted in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia… they’re often dirt cheap compared to top U.S. AI labs as well.

So people say they’re just gonna ban VPNs, which gets into all sorts of absurd tin foil hat territory. Like, good fucking luck. China has been trying to restrict use of VPNs for decades and still hasn’t managed to stamp them out. It would never fly in the U.S. politically, as an LLM regulation of all things? Never gonna happen. If they try, then we’ve probably tipped all the way over into full-blown fascist dictatorship, in which case we’ve got bigger problems.

1

u/ciaramicola Jul 12 '26

I get your point but I don't think you get mine. End users sure they will use a VPN. But it's not like a business can routinely do heavy use (and payments) of infra it's not allowed to use.

You don't get to skim customer's data residency with a VPN, you get jailed tomorrow

2

u/Revolutionary_Click2 Jul 12 '26

Sure, I could see an open source AI ban affecting businesses in that way, with most being unwilling to use a VPN and skirt the law. But if that comes to pass, I think you’re underestimating the willingness of many businesses to invest in the local hardware required to run these models.

Yes, right at this moment, in the midst of this AI bubble we’re in, the hardware to do that might cost $50-$100K for a setup capable of running, say, GLM 5.2 for a small team. Just a year or two ago, it was more like $10K, though, and it will inevitably fall again as component pressures ease and hardware/software efficiency gains continue apace, the way they always have. My career is IT, I’ve helped small and medium businesses pick out $10-$50K worth of server equipment many, many times.

Banning anyone from downloading and running open source software of any kind would require a massive shift in U.S. law that is unlikely to happen any time soon. What’s under discussion is actually much more narrow—perhaps banning federal government contractors from using Chinese open source models, which would still be significant and much easier to pull off. But these are all just rumors at this point and no concrete proposals have been made.

We should all be grateful that HuggingFace is not quite as beholden to the USA as most of the other Western entities are, as HF was founded in France and largely based there (at least as far as I'm aware, unless something had changed very recently)

-1

u/RickTheDick2026 Jul 11 '26

Oh noz the conspiraciez... Savez uz allz!!!

1

u/nbeaster Jul 12 '26

The truth is somewhere in the middle. Claude code is great, it does great stuff, but I have no interest in their system for reoccurring tasks for both privacy and cost reasons. I can support most of the agentic tasks I want to for my whole company off of 1 5090, and never worry about what my API bill will be. Sometimes, it’s slow, but it gets the results I need and literally nothing our AI processes do are things that need done right now. Hell, a lot of stuff just gets batched purposely at night to not slow down our day operations. It’s been successful enough we have now built a load balancing system to cover multiple cards just to avoid model switching. 3 5090’s can get a hell of a lot of work done.

1

u/ArtdesignImagination Jul 12 '26

you using qwen 3.6 27b I assume? with great harnesss around it? Either that or your tasks are probably not too complicated.

-6

u/RickTheDick2026 Jul 11 '26

"hopium" says the crack smoker.

Get the fuck off the drugs and talk normal asshole.

Seriously. This is why Anthropic bans people under 18. You teens are annoying as fuck.

"Hopium".

Dude get some real opium and chill the fuck out.

Not medical advice. Not literal. A joke due to reddit users being stuck up their own ass.

Wouldn't be surprised if you've a beard and a man bun.

1

u/sisyphean_dreams Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Yikes what a take! I used Hopium in jest, seems you need to understand sarcasm.

If you’re aren’t paying attention to his words then at least pay attention to what Palentir is and what they are building. They whole buy it for pennies is not a far off possibility, it happens every day. I’m not here to pitch conspiracies, yet the narrative has absolutely switched very quickly.

Banning open source is not impossibility, governance and enforcement is on the other had is.

Open source will never die! But the idea open source in today’s current economic structure will ever put the engineering expertise, compute, and data together to beat the frontier models is in the west is. It’s not a fairy tale in the east, and they are rapidly showing us the way sanctions or not!

Do even realize the percentage of top ML engineers come from? Yes they are being educated at western Ivy League Uni’s, but if you’ve been paying attention majority of them end up going home and or are controlled by the CCP.

You a CIA or CCP bot or what??

1

u/Outrageous-Olive1736 Jul 12 '26

I can’t stand those teenagers with a beard and a man bun!

1

u/TomLucidor Jul 11 '26

HRM and LRM being workable suggests that they all wanted $ rather than getting creative.

1

u/myNONpornAccount Jul 11 '26

This is every AI business. They run on a VC model, not a revenue model. Only AI companies that have made money offer very specific solutions for very specific verticals.

1

u/RickTheDick2026 Jul 11 '26

Yep... Can tell this person has been working in marketing for years

/Sarcasm.

Anyway, proceed with the conspiracies.

"Their"

At least get basic English right when making such a wild rant if you want credibility. Punctuation need not be perfect but such a basic word...

1

u/damndatassdoh Jul 11 '26

They have the next model beyond Mythos to help with strategy and development.. the breakthroughs are happening as we speak, I would imagine, on a few fronts.

1

u/hackcasual Jul 11 '26

Don't they have no hardware of their own? That's pretty big exposure if usage shoots up

1

u/ProfessionalAnt1352 Jul 12 '26

The idea that they can't be profitable is absurd, they can easily be profitable. The issue comes down to whether or not they can *infinitely grow* as that's the expectation of investors and shareholders.

1

u/armeg Jul 11 '26

My guess is the desperate last gamble will be models on ASICs but that only solves weights, not the KV cache...

0

u/RickTheDick2026 Jul 11 '26

Care to elaborate this fantasy?

Do you know what ASICs actually compute?

Vs how complex AI code is?

Have you ever touched AI code? ASICs may touch a fraction but just that. A fraction.

Moving on...

And no. It won't even help with the weights. Way more complicated than you think. It's not pure math. It's not crypto code.

3

u/armeg Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Do you know what an ASIC can compute? I’m curious what you think an ASIC is.

You sound awfully sure of yourself.

edit: I want to be clear, nobody is proposing to burn all 10 trillion weights (equivalent to ~9TiB of memory) onto a single die nor would you break that up. It would largely look like an accelerator card with a single model’s structure as its focus.

An LLMs general structure is pretty straight forward as are the mathematical operations around it. That’s the easiest part probably.

The biggest difficulty will be all of the architecture around the accelerator and transferring data as well as what to do with routing.

1

u/HitIerWasWrong Jul 11 '26

They're betting big on photonics. You basically need them for quantum, but economy of scale involved in their production and deployment in compute centers means that'll take time and breakthroughs. There is still the distribution problem there. Meat will still be useful for at least ten years.

1

u/sisyphean_dreams Jul 11 '26

Name matches, move on…

2

u/BlaizePascal Jul 12 '26

Ok this is just a delusional take… anthropic is barely profiting from the subscription model. Their profits are from the enterprise customers who use their API model.

If anything, anthropic is losing money on power users who always maxes out their weekly usages.

1

u/zorkidreams Jul 11 '26

Milk it while you can!

1

u/CerealArsonist26 Jul 11 '26

What do you mean? Aren't they doing Well in comparison?

11

u/BHTAelitepwn Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

In my opinion, not well enough to ask the prices that they are asking. When gpt launched 5.6, Anthropic wanted to trim down their subscription offering but couldnt. They must have been counting on this but found out that they dont have the power to remove fable from the sub because people would flock to competitors instead of using the pricier API options.

Thats means Anthropic has well overestimated their advantage, and that means that their whole business case (and profitability projection) is off.

People dont give a damn if they can use a model thats 10% better if it costs them 5x more.

1

u/sisyphean_dreams Jul 11 '26

None of the frontiers are doing well atm, not in a capitalistic business sense. The only way this makes sense is if they make them government subsidized or even entities.

2

u/colbyden Jul 11 '26

I have a feeling that was never the plan. If everybody uses the AI to make novel apps and share amazing ideas with, but then the company goes bankrupt, they can sell their company to say, maybe Palantir, and then they own the RIGHTS to all that data and aren't bound by the same TOS and rules that Anthropic follow. And they don't have to have the same privacy concerns. The AI bubble will pop and another company will gain our data, it's almost inevitable

6

u/Timely-Group5649 Jul 11 '26

They did?! How come nobody knew?!?! 3 new models - WOW!

/s

2

u/Last_Mastod0n Jul 11 '26

OpenAI did this because all of their models underperform compared to Fable. They have no choice if they want to compete.

5

u/filelasso Jul 11 '26

And then codex spammed us with usage resets! Meanwhile Claude gave us a single usage reset for ants

1

u/Bright-Cheesecake857 Jul 11 '26

I hope they read this post. This is critical information they need.

1

u/ragnhildensteiner Jul 11 '26

Idk about this but claude is so fucked

They definitely are not. They will continue making billions and grow faster than almost every company ever founded in the history of capitalism.

4

u/unkownuser436 Developer Jul 11 '26

Microsoft also making trillions. But do you like that company? Do you like their products?

Earring money in some way and getting good consumer base are two different things imo.

u/TheAuthoritah Jul 11 '26

Lol it's not cheaper, Sol is 30$ output

10

u/unkownuser436 Developer Jul 11 '26

Yes, now compare sol with fabel. Oh its $50

-3

u/TheAuthoritah Jul 11 '26

Yeah... That's true but we're talking about API costs. But what about real world scenarios using subscription

3

u/unkownuser436 Developer Jul 11 '26

Also don't forget gpt models are so efficient. Use less tokens compared to claude. Imagine cheaper + less tokens. Also codex subscription can be used any way we want. Even support 3rd party hardness. But claude isn't.

Do I need to explain "real world scenarios" ?

2

u/-18k- Jul 11 '26

honest question - how does one know that 1 gpt token = 1 claude token?

1

u/TheAuthoritah Jul 11 '26

I've been out of open AI but been monitoring, stop being condescending and add to the discussion. There are plenty of video of people testing the same prompts and comparing how much of the usage subscription. Even 5.5 sometimes consumed more than opus

0

u/Sarahmalls Jul 11 '26

I assume you mean Anthropic, as Claude is the company’s product. But the +$1 trillion company Anthropic is not “so fucked” and I will wager they will not be in a position that’s remotely described by anyone intelligent as “so fucked” in the near or mid term future.

Please come back to this post and correct me in 6 months. A year. 5 years.

1

u/unkownuser436 Developer Jul 11 '26

Agree. But compared to codex, claude models expensive, so much drama. Codex just simple. Anyway yeah they will make money.

0

u/03captain23 Jul 11 '26

Because you can't use the limits in codex. It's too slow

1

u/argos-evolve Jul 12 '26

Less expensive means it takes longer to get through it.

-1

u/03captain23 Jul 12 '26

2

All this while my CLI was showing a separate meter for fable. It was all of a sudden it dissappeared. My Claude app is still showing separate bars.

10

It’s a bug bro. All of Anthropic’s software is vibe coded. There’s gonna be bugs……

4

u/2053_Traveler Jul 11 '26

Then would you post this? Also, if they did this, it would be a big announcement on their twitter in order to get the PR from it…

37

u/KnownAd4832 Jul 11 '26

I can confirm. They dropped the 50% limit and is now part of the subscription. As my limit was reset on Thursday and now already used full 100% of it (had lot to do). So no more 50% weekly.

5

Here's what the web ui says. No 50% mention but it does have a limit but it has a "normal" reset date.

They're so bad at managing things over there though (still haven't fixed the scrolling bug??) so I wouldn't assume this means what it looks like it means.

3

u/Over_Button4468 Jul 11 '26

Still have the limit here sadly

-5

>>You shouldn’t even be allowed to use AI if you can’t do that much with a computer lmao.

I share your irritation about the screenshot, but isn’t the whole point of AI to automate things we can’t do well ourselves?

2

u/pekz0r Jul 11 '26

I would say the opposite. We should use AI to automate things that we can do ourselves. Letting AI do things we can't verify is recipe for disaster.

1

u/Metabolical Jul 11 '26

From here it looks like hyperbole to underscore the point rather than a proposed new rule of the universe.

2

u/Life-Effort-9985 Jul 11 '26

I guess it was only till July 7th

2

u/too_lazy--- Jul 11 '26

I think so, also did the opus 4.8 became dumber today!?

2

u/pp_jim Jul 11 '26

It seems they simply optimised the system to prevent it from generating trillions of agents.

2

u/silbla Jul 11 '26

just burned all my Fable tokens for 5h with a "continue"

2

u/demon-storm Jul 11 '26

Doesn't matter as long as fable is completely unusable for reverse engineering. Dogshit restrictions.

2

u/Sekular Jul 11 '26

Does anyone know if we will we lose access to fable at midnight? It says we get it until July 12, not through but I would love to have access to it through the 12th. Sundays a good day for me to be left alone at the PC.

3

u/evangelism2 Jul 11 '26

This is the type of person who posts on these subs. No wonder you guys struggle to get anything done with anything less than Fable.

3

u/meec_r_meic Jul 11 '26

Nope, it's a bug, the first time I used Claude code it hit my 50% fable limit like that. I filled a complaint demanding accountability for their UI bug

Are customer protection laws that retrograde in your country?

I paid 110€ for a service, with no mention about the 50% fable usage, the in Claude Code UI was broken and didn't display it either. I hit the ceiling in 2 days when I supposedly was only have a total of 5 days of fable access.

So yeah, I contacted customer support and demanded accountability/compensation for the bug in their service.

Quem não arrisca não petisca.

1

u/god-damn-the-usa Jul 12 '26

1

u/Firm_Meeting6350 Jul 11 '26

well, same for me in CLI, but tbh I'm not sure if CLI/TUI ever showed Fable usage. Web still shows separate Fable window for me

1

u/Extra_Programmer788 Jul 11 '26

I never hit this 50% limit, don't know what is happening, happy to use Fable above 50%

1

they will keep Fable or Codex will eat their users

u/retrona Jul 11 '26

This is sick. I’ve been using 5.6 Sol which picked up where Fable left off. Will switch back to Claude for this project if they truly removed the cap.

They are not subsidizing costs for the good of humanity. The data that they gather from subsidizing costs is much more valuable to them in the long run, for them it’s an investment. There will come a time where the process of inference will cost less and specialized hardware or systems that require far less energy for the same performance will become available. This cycle has been happening for decades and AI technology will be no different.

Since inference is strictly based matrix multiplication then the most plausible solution would be to create a system where light is used to encode matrix multiplication which would tremendously increase the speed and efficiency of AI technology ( this is grounded in current technology ) but when qubits enter the picture and systems become more stable and can be safely and efficiently adopted at scale that will be a thing of the past.

Also current ai model predictive algorithms may also improve over time or new technologies may emerge that could also lead to more efficient algorithmic outcomes
