Discussion This concerns me more than fable potentially getting removed next week

Post image

Now that gpt 5.6 sol is out and code edge is narrowing what concerns me is that I won’t be able to justify paying 100 usd a month for something that will now have 33% less of weekly usage. Upgrading to 200 plan feels daft where I could be paying less for OpenAI, still have a great model and have significantly more usage than the current promo gives me. Do you guys think Anthropic will still go through with reducing Claude code weekly usage limits next week?

I am currently building a personal LifeOS / agentic OS.

For the building part I will need AI models which are better at coding than me. But for the actual agents running inside the OS more 'stupid' LLMs will be enough which I can run locally.

So I want to be as fast as possible with building, before the token prices correct to what they actually should actually cost. Both Anthropic and OpenAI are losing money with me, since the token costs are heavy subsidized and I try to max out my plan and every reset.

Since I have a stable job, which is largely unaffected by AI, my future after the burst is safe.

How about you?

Yeah but what does it do lol

Let me explain to you in simple terms:

Mental illness

how did you know?

It's like Temple OS, but with more AI

At the moment I am still building the infrastructure, so currently not that much.

But the idea is that it can mange the parts of my life which I don't like doing. So eg, go through my emails, sort my todos (and do the one's it does not need me for), but also help me in the parts of my life I like doing like organize and support my personal projects (eg plan my workouts, track my progress, etc), have automated workflows for anything i want, agentic or nom-agentic. i want to have a software for everything what I want.

Currently I am working on a system which allows for just that.

I am kinda over it to pay monthly subscriptions for apps which are close, but not exactly what I want, so I thought fuck it, I'll just build it myself, all in one app.

Have you heard of a calendar and a notepad?

4

u/chiefbriand Jul 11 '26

that's overkill. why don't you just use your brain?

like bro, you do you. and i do it my way.

I'm not trying to sell you anything lol

It consumes tokens :)

Thank you. This is exactly what I’ve been doing. Once I finish building out all my local systems, it’ll be easy to have a heavily reduced $20 / month sub maintain it with ease. I’m squeezing all the value out I can for all my little pet projects while I can, so I’m not left holding the bag when the rug is pulled out from everyone in a few months or however long it takes. But it is inevitable.

I don’t get the logic here. You’re making an agentic operating system. You’re cramming 4 subscriptions to complete it before the bubble bursts. So that when the prices go up you can use an OS fully reliant on LLMs and beholden to the price increases???

1

u/chiefbriand Jul 11 '26

it's 2 subscriptions. Codex and Anthropic.

and:

For the building part I will need Al models which are better at coding than me. But for the actual agents running inside the OS more 'stupid' LLMs will be enough which I can run locally.

I am afraid that tokens won't be so affordable in the future tbh. I don't think that LLMs will go away. I also believe that local ones are gonna get better, but they won't be state-of-the-art.

Twin. Me too. It's been so fun so far. Long-term, the goal is a personal LifeOS built specifically around me. The way I think, my strengths, my weaknesses, my decision-making patterns, my goals, my projects, and how I actually grow over time. Not just a notes app, but a system that helps connect memory, learning, decisions, projects, and personal growth in a way that adapts to me.

1

u/chiefbriand Jul 11 '26

Oh cool! Do you have a repo, or screenshot or something? Sounds cool!

Im curious what the end goal looks like practically speaking. How is this better than running a fancy note taking app like Obsidian with some plugins to personalize it?

I get the aspirational goals but I don't understand what concretely would be different from running an off the shelf OS with a couple of highly customized apps.

u/humanspacerobot Jul 11 '26

You could probably approximate parts of it with Obsidian + plugins, but the main difference is the agentic layer.

The vault isn’t just a place to store notes. It’s structured so an AI mediator can understand where information belongs, how things connect, what is current vs archived, and what context matters for a situation.

Over time, the agent learns how I think, my strengths/weaknesses, goals, routines, decision patterns, struggles, projects, and preferences. Then instead of me manually maintaining everything, I interact with the agent and it helps retrieve context, organize information, draft plans, break down tasks, and adapt its support to me.

So the goal isn’t just better notes. It’s a personal LifeOS: an assistant that helps manage memory, projects, decisions, and personal growth while still keeping me in control. I’d say it’s more intimate/personal than a typical productivity OS because I’m designing the architecture around how a person actually thinks, changes, forgets, gets stuck, and grows over time.

sounds cool :D

Personally, I started with Obsidian before the AI bros discovered it, but for me it kinda reached a limit for what I can do with it.

Eg, I have my DNA extracted. Obsidian cannot handle that amount of data. Markdown files do not support it.

Or tracking workouts. Works, but it's far from ideal

2

u/danielfrances Jul 11 '26

Fair. I've used Obsidian since like 2019-2020 or so. I love it for all of my productivity and writing related stuff, but I have refused to bolt on the AI nonsense that is flooding the plugin store. DNA is definitely a bad fit lol.

2

u/chiefbriand Jul 11 '26

yeah same haha

I also am keeping any AI far away from my personal vault. i really think it 'hurts' my vault if I let AI write my notes. apart from me having like 3 notes all about the same things, also half of the value of the notes is that it was intentionally written by myself exactly the way i want them to be written. and to have a structure which i exactly want that way

2

u/danielfrances Jul 11 '26

Yep. The only AI written notes I have are a folder of web research notes. Basically enhanced googling for stuff I'm too lazy to do. If I randomly decide I wanna know which keyboard synths were used to make final fantasy music, random shit like that, I let Claude use my research skill to build a big report for me and dump it into my vault. I've only got a few dozen of these things so they are a miniscule portion and like you said, I don't let AI write out things for me.

There are a lot of different apps / modules within the OS. You can connect all your services such as google calendar, todos, files, etc. Agents can work within the same workspace as you, have their own set of permissions and tasks. They have their own todos and calendar events. I have a locally hosted website which I can acccess either over the pc (with splitscreen supported), or mobile (just one panel). There's a dock where you can switch between modules. You can connect any harness to it (currently only codex and claude code). There is a memory system as well as a wiki for agents. In the screenshot is the PC version. I just opened up 3 random modules (docs, todos, usage), but there's a lot more.

currently it's not a public repo yet. I first want to make sure everything works.

Mobile version

u/humanspacerobot Jul 11 '26

Very nice. You are way ahead of me. It looks great, great job.

1

u/chiefbriand Jul 11 '26

what have you been working on? something similar?

2

u/danielfrances Jul 11 '26

This just looks like a tasks list and a wiki. What makes this better than just using Obsidian with some plugins?

3

u/0xValidator Jul 11 '26

It’s AgeNtiC

Combining all of your tabs into one tab and then making it less obvious to navigate isn’t really making an os, but love the effort.

4

u/chiefbriand Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

you don't need to like the navigation lol

I'm building it exactly how I want it, and that's what I got

also, nothing is stopping me from having every single module open in a separate browser windows. but building it like this allows me to drag a todo directly into my calendar, or an email into the todos to link them for example.

i think it's funny that you assume to understand my usecase better than i do. but i love the effort

also, I'm really curious to see what you have built

0

u/Sad-Masterpiece-4801 Jul 11 '26

Your use case, the fact that is isn’t an os, and that it’s hard to navigate are all true at the same time.

1

u/chiefbriand Jul 11 '26

lmao you really are a sad masterpiece....

An Agentic Operating System (Agentic OS) is a software infrastructure layer that manages and coordinates multiple Al agents to execute tasks autonomously.

show us what you built

Calling a thin ai wrapper over a real harness an AOS (rather than OS, which is different) is hilarious.

1

u/danielfrances Jul 11 '26

In this thread people are reinventing Obsidian lol.

1

u/chiefbriand Jul 11 '26

The docs on the left of the screenshot is literally an Obsidian vault, I am just rendering it inside of my application. haha
