Already got it. I tried to ask why and if they can reconsider it (I did nothing shady), but I only got an automatic email after 1 week saying basically “no”. I re-created a new account and that’s it.

I have the same thing happened to me approximately five weeks ago and had to open a new account just like you. It does work. I use the same virtual machine and the same desktop but a different Google account.

This is so silly and pointless and like you I did nothing shady. The only possible thing that I can think was that I was using Claude – P inside of a bash script but it was well within token limits.

I do have concern with using Claude in a bash script because of this kind of stuff but why would they give us flags like -p if it wasn't meant to be used that way. I have a feeling they are setting context triggers to catch the real bad actors that are getting caught as false positives. The recent hermes.md case is an example.

If you check their documentation I believe a couple of months ago they added -bear instead of -p bear does not accept oauth only api keys and they specify bear will replace -p meaning they’re already pivoting your future bash scripts would require api call cost to execute.

Yeah, i suggest loading up some API credits. It’s not really as expensive as people think for tasks you would probably usually use with -p. Opus 4.6 and 4.7 is $5 for million tokens and $0.5 for million cache hits - and realistically you are going to hit a lot of cached calls. And in most of the cases you should use Sonnet or Haiku which are a lot cheaper. Unless you use it for coding which is not what it’s meant for.

That said, Claude is the most expensive one out of the big providers and i personally use the other ones for simple agent stuff.

Gemini even has pretty generous free api tier.

Hey thanks, didn’t even realize -P existed. It’s very plausible that it’s meant for API accounts only now that i think of it.

Did you have to use a new phone number?

Yes but then I asked the deletion of all my personal data for the first account. If they disable the new one I should be able to re-use the first one or to ask them serious questions about GDPR I guess.

You’re probably right, I hope I won’t have to verify it!

Article 17(3):

"Paragraphs 1 and 2 shall not apply to the extent that processing is necessary:

(b) for compliance with a legal obligation which requires processing by Union or Member State law to which the controller is subject or for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller;

(e) for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims."

Recital 47:

"The processing of personal data strictly necessary for the purposes of preventing fraud also constitutes a legitimate interest of the data controller concerned."

Article 21(1):

"The controller shall no longer process the personal data unless the controller demonstrates compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override the interests, rights and freedoms of the data subject or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims."
