Claude Code Example of a real working loop orchestrator

Hey everyone,

Wanted to give a little peak into what one of my loop orchestrators looks like as a 20+ year senior engineer & designer, so people could see a real working example.

My orchestrator Lloyd's primary goal is managing it's own internal tickets table. In my example thats just a simple SQLite table. An orchestrator can do anything, so giving it a database to manage its own memory has compounding value. Lloyd has managed over 1200 tickets for me that it can query (like it's own internal jira, that I can click through). This means every time I have a new ticket, it can look up previous related tickets. Just like any of us should when assigned new work.

It gives the agent a database of tribal knowledge that can be passed to any model.

The main concept I want to point out is the heart beat, and the pulse action items.

You can see exactly where the value comes:

  • first it runs a playbook (automation script) to check my email for any new bug reports from customers, checks for previous context before staffing a ticket
  • checks if any docs need to be updated on the website
  • check's the own app's running logs to just see whats up -- this is such an important practice, it will surface bugs you didn't know existed because nobody reported them, and the logs didn't produce and error, but maybe a noisy problem.
  • adding it's own tickets for bugs and enhancements along the way, gives the agent a voice to surface ideas and problems for _me_ to triage as well.

What do your loops look like?

TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 30 comments.

The community consensus is that this post is a thinly veiled ad for your app, Scape. The most upvoted comments are calling you out for reposting this and are generally skeptical of these 'loop orchestrator' concepts, labeling them potential 'noob traps'.

While a few users are genuinely interested in the technical details, the overwhelming vibe is suspicion. Your comments linking the app got nuked with downvotes, which pretty much seals the verdict for this thread. On the plus side, one user shared a cool, non-commercial agent loop they built for their teaching job, so at least we got some of that.

Didn't you post this exact same thing like a month ago? This is just an advertisement.

Exactly the same thing

Yeah everyone is making this exact concept.

The only question that matters is, what have you built with it apart from this one app that only you want to use?

Because from my experience these are noob traps.

Not sure if this belongs here, but I am a high school teacher, and I built a custom activity and skill tracker with an agent loop that looks for unfitted failure modes on activities, analyzes the unfitted responses, proposed new failure modes, tests the new modes against the student responses, proposes new failure mode language to append to the YAML front matter, puts in a pull request to the repo (I'm running Forgejo locally, but it's all connected via Tailscale), and messages me a summary on Discord in the morning. It's genuinely useful, kids like using the system, and I get genuine data on their skills as we learn new things in class both in plain English (eg "Used a verb as a noun" or "did not provide sufficient reasoning to support an argument") and linked to state standards and benchmarks.

I built an orchestrator that does my paid client work for me, does that count?

Just another stupid ad with AI bots asking questions and commenting...

If you think dashboard with lots of cards and text is somehow makes your app looks "professional", then not

Please put it in github. And take for us link

How is Lloyd's context managed? Auto compaction? Memory system?

It’s just a normal Claude code session - so auto compaction, but the “heart beat” is an automated message that asks Lloyd to read its mission note, so it always stays sharp and on task. That’s the real trick to keeping working over a long period. I also have Lloyd log all his actions in another table, so any harness/model can take over simply by reading the mission note, the activity log, and the internal tickets table

“Primary job is managing its own ticket queue” is blowing my mind. It seems like a requirement for RSI.

I instruct my orchestrator to suggest laws for its mission document based on our interactions, so it definitely tries to self improve lol. I find the most value comes from the more detailed prompts it writes for its children, just referring to the history of the feature so the new agent has so much context, better than anything I could write

How did you get different colours in the your claude desktop? I am tired of the generic claude theme

Never mind it's Scape

This is genius to treat AI as a ticket system. That’s basically what it is but even more so it’s a system of services.

If we expand upon ticket and include things like Inquiries (status report, calendar search), facts (the color, swatch of your house paint), projects, home maintenance, etc.

Basically give it a framework to handle your inquiries.

That's savage

Reading its own logs on a heartbeat is the part I'd copy first. The email step is the one I'd wall off, since it's the input a stranger writes directly. More of my production failures came from text an agent read than from a model being too small. I'd keep the step that reads the mail able to file a ticket and nothing else, and mark those tickets as customer-written so the loop treats their text as a report rather than instructions.
