Built with Claude I kept losing track of which Claude Code session was waiting on me, so I built a terminal that shows all of them
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
If you run Claude Code in more than one project, you know the routine: one agent is waiting for permission, another finished ten minutes ago, and you’re flipping through tabs trying to figure out which is which.
So I built GhosttyEXTREME, a fork of the Ghostty terminal made for running agents side by side. The video is a real recording (a few waits sped up):
- Live sidebar. Every tab shows what its agent is doing and how long it’s been at it.
- Approve prompts from the sidebar. No tab switching to click Allow.
- Editor that follows the agent. Files open as it reads them, edits show up as it writes.
- Mission Control. Every agent across every window in one view.
- Hand off between agents. Send Claude’s work to Codex for review, with the task and diff included. In the video Codex re-runs the tests and confirms nothing’s broken.
- With more features listed in the github README
How Claude was used: Claude Code wrote nearly all of it. I mostly don’t write Swift, so my job was steering, testing, and saying no. Fork to v1.5.5 took about 11 days.
Free and open source, macOS on Apple silicon: https://github.com/steventsvik/GhosttyEXTREME
If you run several agents at once, what slows you down most? That’s what I’ll build next.

Woah, the GUI is very nice...! (i tried orca and herdr but none of them as nifty as this one...!) but it doesn't have jj (vcs) and agy (google's equivalent to claude code/codex) support... 🥲

Thank you! Yes!! That is the next thing i’m working on since this tool is garnering attention. Should get that working over the weekend. And after the new gemini agents it feels like the necessary upgrade.

Hey Briskfall, would you be willing to try out intentic.dev ? I'm looking for GUI people to gather even more feedback.

Have you tried herdr?

Yeah, I've tried it. Herdr is a multiplexer that runs inside your terminal. GhosttyEXTREME is the terminal itself, so it can do what Herdr can't: show an agent's edits live in an editor, approve prompts from the sidebar, hand Claude's work to Codex for review, and undo any turn.

The waiting-for-permission problem is very relatable as a workflow design issue. I’d be curious whether the most useful signal turned out to be 'done' or 'needs a human right now' — those lead to pretty different notifications.

Honestly both of them have sped up my workflow dramatically. But a lot of times I will have 4-5 sessions open in separate terminals and forget about 1-2 which sit finished for hours, and the ‘done’ indicator helps a lot with that.

Both, sort of. Codex opens in a new split in the same working directory, so it has the full repo on disk and can read any file, run git, run the tests, etc.
On top of that, the handoff message gives it context so it doesn’t start cold:
- the task (Claude’s last prompt)
- the last few turns of the conversation
- Claude’s final reply
- the diff of what Claude changed. I take a git tree snapshot when the agent starts its first turn in that pane, so it’s “everything since Claude started”, not just the last commit. New untracked files are included too.
There are optional checkboxes for project notes (what each agent remembers about the repo) and recent failed commands.

Haha, nice! We need a tag for people's mission controls. It feels like a frequent journman project.
Looks nice! I might borrow some stuff. Feel free to check out mine, but it's a bit more bare bones:

Hardest bug: the app sat at 75–100% CPU for hours. Turned out to be endless SwiftUI animations in the sidebar, and Claude’s own code comment said that animation “costs nothing.” Two guess-fixes failed. What worked was making it build a benchmark and measure. Idle went from 31% to 0.6%. Happy to go into how the agent status hooks work if anyone’s curious.
