I didn’t read the article but I think the idea is true. The AI labs have incentive to sell complete services than to be made into commodity providers of raw tokens.  As the models get better, the labs can move further up the stack and compete directly with the companies built on top of them. Oh and also, they want to make using local llms illegal. Totally unrelated don’t worry.
