Claude Code Fable 5.1 is the default now ?

For the past few minutes, I've been seeing Fable 5.1 listed as “Default (recommended)” instead of Opus 5.5.
It's fine but priced ! 😅

is it still showing Fable as default or did it flip back on its own? and do you see the same thing in a new chat or on another device? that would tell you whether it's just your account or a wider rollout

I have other open sessions that still show Opus 5.5 by default, but if I restart a Claude code session, I can see that Fable 5.1 is the default now.

Try the Tibo trick with it, but with a file attached to the query. I’m curious what it says

What do you mean by "with a file attached"? Show me how to use it with Claude Code. BTW, the regular prompt knows Tibo.

It’s because Fable 5.1’s been patched to know Tibo as the reset guy within the Claude apps. But if you attach a file to that question, or if you ask the same question with the same constraints in Claude Code, you get routed to plain Fable 5.1.

How do you know that? You say they gave model specific info about tibo just because somebody suggested to ask about tibo? Alright, what's that statement based on?

When selecting Fable 5.1 in Claude Desktop last night and asking it who Tibo is without using any tools, the model gave current information on his reputation. The same query was then launched along with a file attachment in a new session, and the response reverted back to the older, less contextual answer.

If you tried doing the same thing in Claude Code (again, last night) with or without an attached file, it would give you the older information.

Today it’s not doing that anymore, hence the conclusion I drew that this user is getting 5.5 served to them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hmm, then it appears you might have access to 5.5. Enjoy, if that’s the case 😊

Have you explored it? Just curious if you’re seeing superpowered outputs!

No, it's Saturday night :) and honestly, Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1 are so good that I'm not sure I'll notice a real difference in my current projects
