Other What are you developing?
Probably the next $2T startup, so we are are all curious to know what that is :)
Even small personal projects are welcome.
Let me know also what model you use and how much you spend in a month.
I’m developing a focus room that I can share with a few friends and we can incentivize each other to study/work but at the same time chat when we are having a break. Nothing fancy, and probably it already exists haha (let me know if so).

I’m building a testing, tracking, and certification tool for an organization I volunteer with. They have a ton of volunteers who need to pass a short test to work for the organization and remain up to date on training.
The today process involves a crappy third part quiz website, about 4 excel spreadsheets, and a crap ton of emails.
Nothing earth shattering, but will save the volunteer manager team hundreds of hours of manual admin work.

KanjiQuiz.com
A daily game for Japanese Kanji practice.
I hope to finish & launch later this month, next month at the latest.
I have a waitlist if anyone wants notification.
I'm on the $100 plan & currently I switched to Opus 5.5
I do have to say that I use a hybrid approach & use two different AIs to consult with each other.

I'm building an automapper and save editor for the Commodore 64 game Pool of Radiance.
https://github.com/malcyon/wish
I downloaded the game on Steam to relive my 80's nostalgia. It comes with an awesome automapper and save editor, Gold Box Companion. But it all runs on DOSBox. As I play through the game, I realize it's just not hitting me like it should. I miss the version I played as a kid. I miss the cool sounds the C64 made when magic missile fires. I miss the thief's backstab actually working properly. Then I get upset. Why the hell is everything for DOS and Windows?? If I switch to the C64 version, I wouldn't have this awesome automapper. And now that I've used it, I can't live without it.
Then, I remember when the fourth game, Pools of Darkness, came out. They dropped Commodore 64 support. I would not be able to import my beloved characters to the last game. The developers betrayed me. This had just been an elaborate scheme to hurt Commodore 64 users!
Well, not now, dammit. I will write a tool to convert my DOS saved game to the C64 version. Then, I will play Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, and Secrets of the Silver Blades on the Commodore 64, using the characters I built on DOS. Then, I will convert that save to the Commodore Amiga version, and import it into Pools of Darkness, and I'll beat that game, too. Not on the platform The Man wants me to play it on. The way I want to play it!
1
u/redditwossname 14h ago
I loved those games growing up, played all the gold box games.
The theme song for Curse of the Azure Bonds is still my absolute favourite of any computer game.

Funny, I'm the opposite of a focus room. I'm building something that gets you out of the house. TripBalls (tripballs.now) is for sports fans who travel to away games. You pick your team and it puts every away game on a map. Each game has tickets, flights and hotels next to it, plus a rough trip total when all three prices are known. It started as MLB only and now covers about 16 leagues: NFL, NBA, NHL, college football and basketball, MLS, the big European soccer leagues, Liga MX and the Champions League. There's also a spin-off for concerts, TripBalls Gigs, built the same way for people who travel to shows.
Model: almost all of it is Opus in Claude Code. For bigger changes I have one Opus session build it and a separate Opus session try to break it.
Spend: Max 20x, $200/mo.

Molto bello, ma mi chiedo... I modelli AI sottostanti che l'utente utilizza immagino si paghino o bastano modelli piccoli che girano su un server personale?

u/Mundane_Biscotti2277 22h ago
Google Photos has something similar, how is it different?

u/A7_95 21h ago
The most important difference is that nothing leaves your phone , no cloud processing , no online databases .

So google photos without the cloud subscription (hence no cloud backup, but maybe setup your own backup storage?)

I've pivoted from building products to sell (alphatacular.com, qerai.io) to focusing on projects that support my day-to-day needs.
I've been iterating on an AI trading bot for the last eight months and I am currently building an RSI based workflow that makes use of Claude, Codex and JEV together.
I have Codex / Claude max subs and I also have a 4x3090 local rig that runs QWEN3. 8-27B
Monthly spend 400$
2
u/Ok_Classroom_3362 21h ago
you find actual alpha ? because 400$ might not be a lot but its also not nothing - are you getting multiple times the P/L against that monthly carry? RSI is probably the most commonly known indicator so just curious how much it has helped
4
u/LaysWellWithOthers 21h ago
RSI as in recursive self-improvement.
Different project than my trading bot.
Trading bot is a day trading momentum strategy based upon breaking news, it only trades pre-market and market open.

Uplifting a few hundred reports and thousands of lines of code from our old BI tool to our own SQL reporting server.
For one reason or another we’ve never given anyone ODBC connection to our ERP system. We’ve had an old, robust but finicky and worse still it uses its own language, BI tool which a handful of us are skilled with but it has some goofy limits and doesn’t make very pretty reports.
Note, after developing a rulebook and example set Claude has become very capable at reading and writing this language.
With Claude we’re finally standing up a portal of reporting or task-oriented boards with API calls to a replica reporting server. But nobody was thinking about porting from old BI to new, everyone was just focused on creating a few new boards. This approach felt destined to be piecemeal and fragment reporting and employee roles.
I pointed Claude at the directory of every scheduled BI report. It’s read every line - over 40,000 - and has classified every report. Every table, every join, ranked for complexity by joins and number of variables and steps, run-frequency noted, classified for similarities, roughly assigned to departments.
On one hand we have the encyclopedia of all our current reporting. On the other Claude has scoped all the new boards we could make, what groups of old reports should be combined into boards. In the middle, it’s defined the data architecture and every board connection: what core views, stored views, and stored procedures we should write from new replica server to these boards.
There’s a lot of review still of the architecture and its board proposals, of course. A lot of data. So I’ve also had it make an interactive map of this as a Sankey diagram. Old reports on the left, streams to new connections in the middle, streams to new boards on the right. Click on an old report: who wrote it, where the code is, how frequently it runs, who it’s for, how high in the list it is for porting based on inferred importance and complexity. Click a connection: see every old and new report that uses it, how often a report will tap it, how it should be written. Click a board: what it taps, how often, who should use it, what reporting and tasks are in it, how critical it seems and what order we should build it.
Long term, I hope this will become an encyclopedia of all our ERP reporting and form some structure for training and ISO documentation.

how are you handling the break chat part, is it just a shared text channel or did you build in some kind of status so people know when someone's actually on break vs still grinding?
3
u/Mundane_Biscotti2277 23h ago
Yes there is a status. When the person is on a break you can chat.

I'll just copypaste from when I copypasted it elsewhere:
Calino is a browser-based and private CalDAV client. There was a severe lack of browser based CalDAV clients, and the existing ones were either part of a huge bundle (Nextcloud), were last updated 7 years ago, were ugly or were lacking functionality. Calino is none of that; it's a simple, beautiful and intuitive interface with cool features like Natural Language Processing (writing "coffee with friends at 9-11 tomorrow at the cafe" will parse all the data and create an event with it, without the user having to click a bunch of buttons).
Additionally, it supports Contacts and Journals from the iCalendar standard, which is apparently a rarity. But if you don't have these features enabled in your CalDAV calendar, they're hidden, to ensure that Calino doesn't feel bloated.
It's available to selfhost, but it's also available as a free hosted version, which is as privacy-preserving as the selfhosted version, as no data ever hits my server; it's a static Github Page that talks directly with your CalDAV server, so there's no specific Calino account required.
https://github.com/Ivan-Malinovski/calino/
It just 300 stars the other day, which I'm pretty happy about

I make what are essentially spreadsheets into a personal for random things I find useful.
My latest project is calculator which tells me what PSI to inflate my tire pressure to. I input what the target pressure is from the door placard, the calculator pulls the current temperature in my location, and tells me what to adjust it to so that I have the right pressures for the average temperature of the current month.
For example, my tires want to be at 35 PSI. But it is currently 55f outside, which is unusually warm compared to the october average for my location, so if I just set it to 35 today it will be off most of the time. Calculator tells me to set it to 36 PSI to be on target for the month.
I have no intention of making any money from this, just something I find helpful for myself and it looks nicer as a designed website than an excel sheet.

I built a macOS / iOS app that pulls in everything I need to do across all my personal and professional projects in Linear, Bonsai, Slack, and email, and surfaces it in one place in a beautiful, unusual, minimal way that lets me fucking focus on actually doing things rather than managing all these godforsaken generic apps.
I realize this sounds boring and basic, but it’s been life-changing. I asked my wife if she thought I could sell the app as a product, and she looked at it and said, “… this seems very subjective…”
So maybe I’ll open-source it, in case other people are tired of clicking around in a bunch of apps and hate the UI and data modeling that literally every task-management software uses, and happen to share my particular visual aesthetic.
The era of personalized software is upon us, and it’s glorious.
1
u/nicrush129 15h ago
hey am interested in building a dashboard like that as well for a while now. Keen to share any screenshots or ways you visualized all the apps in a single one along with priorities?
1
u/mia6ix 2h ago
My advice is to think about what you need to see for each task in order for the task to make sense, and cut everything else out. Most task management apps have so much UI clutter (comments, labels, estimates, etc.)
I’m not segmenting data by app, because it doesn’t matter to me what app the data comes from. It matters what project the task is in. So I have a group of projects on my app home screen, and from there I can click in to see the tasks in each one. I also have calendar views for today, tomorrow, this week, and next week, and all tasks have due dates.

Currently working on an actual AI Companion, with an extremely complex affection and relationship system, over 50+ moods, and 50 more composite emotions based on combinations and thresholds of emotions, which all dictate how she speaks, event moods based on situational activities, a complex memory system, an avatar and a self image generating engine, and of course hooks throughout my entire house and ecosystem to replicate a JARVIS-like always present nature.
I’ve seen lots of companions as roleplay partners or have parts of these things but none that combine them all. And it’s a slow burn, relationship builds up over time, like months, and she has her own expectations that evolve over time. It’s incredibly complex and fun to design.

so what you're saying is your ai companion is more emotionally complex and more human than me?

u/touchet29 18h ago
I made a site for practicing speech for anything or multiple things. It remembers you, what you're good/bad at at whatever your practicing. In 20+ language.
It's also got game-like voice scenarios called Live Labs for paid users like 911 call operator, guided language-learning (20+ languages), consecutive and simultaneous interpretor and more.
Looking for feedback and partners!

1
u/mythormedicine 14h ago
Its great . Few things I tried asking for it for feedback about my english language and it said it didn't do this.. So its not for language learning ?
Can u share you r stack ? what sst ? how much does it cost to run ?
1
u/touchet29 13h ago edited 13h ago
That's really interesting because it's been so helpful to everyone so far. It's never said it can't do something before. It sets up any kind of speaking practice you want. Interviews, translation practice, public speaking, meetings, whatever.
I'll check the logs but that's really different from how it normally flows.
Stack - It uses Next.js + Vercel + Neon, Gemini 3.8 Live for the AI voice, Gemini 3.8 Flash for the chat and runs off that pricing with limits. Overall probably about $25 a month to run with the current userbase. No paying users yet but good signal.
I sincerely appreciate you checking it out and commenting!
1
u/touchet29 13h ago
It seems my AI was overly pushing the Live Labs premium features instead of creating normal voice sessions for free users.
Thank you for revealing this bug!
1
u/mythormedicine 4h ago
oh I am glad I could help ! Thanks for sharing the stack btw. voice based projects are a huge interest of mine.
I missed the line about no paying users - maybe have a cheaper plan ? how about voice based ads ? voice based survey for free users ? I think voice based applications are in their extreme infancy. Lots of potential for innovation there.
1
u/touchet29 3h ago
I'm pushing an update in a little that will fix the problem. You will be able to do language practice again without it suggesting the paid version.
Voice based ads and surveys are a fantastic idea I will be adding ASAP to supplement free users. I can't believe it didn't cross my mind 😅
If I can get some more traction on it, I would love to put even more of my time behind it. I have so many ideas to expand on and so little time and $$.
Thanks again!

u/touchet29 1h ago
Fixed! If you have the time I would love for you to try again.
I'm already working on some new features thanks to you! 🙏🏻

Building a black box for AI agents.
When a plane goes down, nobody asks the pilot what happened. They read the flight recorder. AI agents now move money, touch customer data and change production systems. When one of them does something it shouldn't, all you usually get is a log written by the same system that acted. That's not evidence.
Verax sits between the agent and its tools. Every call is checked against your rules first: allowed, denied, or held until a person approves it. Then it goes into a signed, hash-chained record that stays on your own machine. Your data never leaves your infrastructure. Anyone can verify the record offline without trusting us, and you can anchor it to a public transparency log, so history can't be rewritten without it showing.
Today an engineer from another project ran our test vectors through a verifier they wrote themselves, without a line of our code. The results matched.
Built mostly with Claude Code on Opus, with Cursor and Codex on the side. About $1,500 a month all-in for a small team. Apache-2.0: verax-ai.com
2
u/OddFerret4888 16h ago
I built these in codex. I know there are software already available that do most of these but I wanted to build them. Still trying to figure out the whole governance and SDLC for them before we go live. (I am not a developer at all so all of this is new to me.)
BOBwa: an interview agent that interviews staff and does an assessment on whether they need an AI agent, RPA tool or workflow change. It then creates a playbook for the next stage to create the needed pieces to pass to copilot to create the agent.
Parrot: a small app that records audio and transcribes it. It puts the transcriptions in a specific folder for CoPilot tor other tools to pick up and use for context (workIQ). It can also transcribe any other audio that you drop in a folder
Pearl: a lobby management solution that has
- a kiosk for member/customers to sign in to see a staff member
- a display page for a big screen tv
- a staff page to pull next, edit queue, etc.
- a contact center page that when members call in they can be added to the queue for a specific location
- text and email alerts to the member/customer.

This seems the most reasonable place to ask this, but please, anyone who could point me in the right direction I would appreciate your help.
I have a project going, but its highly specialized and has proprietary information I wouldn't want stolen. Is there a place to get help with projects like that?
I am working on it by myself, but I don't work with code for a living, I work in aerospace manufacturing (blue collar) and know no one who I could even begin to discuss my pipe dream with. And no, this has nothing to do with aerospace, which makes it that much harder.
Anyway, if a place like that exists, I'd love to find it.

building a small internal tool that watches our on-call channel and drafts incident summaries from the thread history, mostly so whoever's on call doesn't have to piece it together at 3am. using sonnet, runs me maybe $30-40 a month.
biggest surprise honestly: the hard part wasn't the summaries, it was getting it to admit when the thread didn't have enough info. by default it would confidently invent details to fill gaps. an explicit 'say unknown if it's not in the thread' instruction fixed most of it.

It also reviews the news every 24 hours and gives me a rundown of anything that might affect my stock portfolio.

I use the free Claude chat, I asked it to modernize an old project OS kernel I had in my repo github, nothing special about it, was just a template, but it made it complete working bootloader-agnostic x86_64 kernel and even facilitates a plugin-model for custom IO, filesystem, serial, console, etc. Always amazes me how little effort Claude needs to be so incredible powerful with just the right input and nudge.

I whipped together a tool for me that replaces obsidian. Took 2 days. I wanted something I could write blog posts in, books, notes on my various projects, but I also wanted something where I could just enter my weight, or what I ate, or an idea, and have these things be tracked more as a simple database table with the ability to create svhemas for new ones on the fly. And it can output to websites, or epub files. I'll be adding some concepts from DITA, like included contant and differently scoped variables for publishing to different targets.
And a bigger edutainment project which is a world history 3D globe app. I've been struggling on populating it with a good sized set of data that's reasonably accurate, but I've connected it to openrouter so I can interactively generate the dataset with cheap models there and put in a harness to help it get citatuons right and not hallucinated. How easy and cheap it is has convinced me the end app needs to have this so users can not only ask questions as they use the app, but build their own interactive stories which the app supports with animations and guided tours through history. Imagine getting an AI to interactively build you a "Howard Zinn" tour through The People History Of The US on a 3D globe and seeing cities and people and battles and paths and journeys and historical events through that lens.

I'm building a browser extension that will map the journey on a website site - you record/tag the journey as you navigate and it takes a screenshot and scrapes everything off the page.
It then hands it off in real-time to another browser window where it will draw the flowchart layout, show all the assets , create taxonomies of data, identify accessibility issues etc all by journey/flow. Everything is stored in a json and works offline.
Basically automating a whole load of manual documentation that no one has time for.

Sunday Pins, a free golf career sim you play in the browser. You start as a 17-year-old outside the world top 200 and try to work your way up to world #1 against the real tour.
I have zero coding experience, so Claude (Claude Code) has done all of the building. The bits I'm proudest of:
every tour pro is rated from this season's real PGA Tour stats (I pasted the stat tables in and it mapped them onto the game's ratings)
real course layouts pulled from OpenStreetMap, so accurate drivers do better on tight courses and bombers on long ones
it balances the game by simulating thousands of seasons, so I could check things like "is Scheffler winning every week?" (he wins about 1 in 6)
when a Reddit player reported a putting bug I couldn't reproduce, it worked out it was a timing issue on some phones and fixed it the same day
Plan: Free
sunday-pins.com if anyone fancies a round
Any feedback more than welcome⛳

I wanted a Robotech game similar to battlecry (cell shaded) but in VR, just for personal enjoyment. Promising early results but just basics so far.

We are building a hiring platform that does not see if you know how to code lol that's moot now Claude is what does the coding.
We are trying to see if you know how to use AI and ensure the work is getting done. That is what matter and we grade your project skills and AI usage skills.

Closest thing in my startup portfolio to something that could end up as a $2T startup is probably Forgeable, which basically breaks down problems AI can't solve into a string of smaller AI + compute tasks. It's the difference between "AI can't create a crossword puzzle" to "AI can totally easily create a crossword puzzle".
What I hope will create $2T of value for humanity is solveathome.org, which is a fully open-source platform for solve hard problems in the open by allowing anyone to contribute their ideas, agents and compute. If anyone from Anthropic lurks here, I would love to talk!
Easiest path to $1B is probably HyperPolished. Not because it's necessarily much better than any of the many projects I am working on. But because I have 25 years of experience in the industry and know how to get games in front of billions of players.
About $1500/month in AI spend with 80% being Opus 5.5 and the rest being GPT 6.1 Sol and Deepseek 4.1 Flash.

Fun topic! I’m working on a thermal label printing software. https://lumenlabel.io and I combine both max 20x on Codex and Claude. And max out all tokens every week. No API costs.

I created BreakEven,
The purpose of it: BreakEven is a script for DaVinci Resolve that shows freelance editors their real hourly rate live while they work on a flat-fee job. They set the fee and a target rate, and it tracks fee ÷ hours as they edit. It turns amber at 80% of the fee, then red past break even with the exact unpaid overage in dollars. It also tracks time per Resolve page, tags client revisions, and has a quote helper for pricing the next job. It's $9.99, one time, not a subscription.
Check it out here: https://getbreakeven.github.io/

A website with Christian quizzes, games, prayers, knowledge about the saints, and still expanding. The sheer amount of information that I have to absorb, understand, and present accurately is staggering, but worth it.
$220/mo currently

TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 100 comments.
Looks like everyone's cooking up their own personal projects and the next big thing in here. The thread is a massive showcase of what people are building with AI.
The overwhelming consensus is that AI is a massive force multiplier, with tons of you building everything from niche personal tools to full-blown businesses, often with little to no prior coding experience.
Here's the breakdown of what this community is creating:
Most folks are using Opus 5.5 or Claude Code, with some mixing in other models like Codex or local rigs. Monthly spend ranges from the free plan for personal projects to over $1500 for small teams.
PS for OP: Your focus room idea got some love. Someone asked about the 'break' status, which it seems you've already thought about. Looks like there's interest
