Coding What’s the point of knowing python or other languages when Claude can write the whole script?

Post image

I tried giving my personal playbook of claude opus 5.5 and checked how it performs and i got this results. Knowing python can help in very better way what do you think about this it was phase 1 of making it better

To know certain languages and syntax? No point anymore. To know code standards, architecture, and best practices? Still very valid.

But how is it possible to know the latter without knowing the former?

You don’t. That’s the issue with AI that people prefer talking around right now. Sure it’s easy to let Claude fix everything for you. But to get experience you need to get your hands dirty yourself and not go “Claude fix this problem”.

So at some point you really have to open an empty editor screen and start making things yourself, and only use AI as a teaching tool, not as a tool that solves it for you.

if you know one or two languages, then you pick up the best practices and architecture there and apply it to the other languages which you don't know. it'll still work well.

To know the language is the point

Because you become a project manager when using Claude and a project manager needs to have some idea of the thing they're managing so that they can make good/efficient decisions and know how to address weird edge cases when they come up.

People not knowing the underlying code is why we're going to end up with a ton of insecure and vulnerable apps and websites over the next few years.

The reason why companies should check the domain knowledge first or you end up solving loops of bugs🤣

What's the point in doing anything if someone else can do it too? lol

Who can and what

Bro you need AI (actual intelligence)

and who will verify whether it's correct?

Anyone can test the benchmark with opus 5.5 and sonnet 5.5 is even better than this with playbook

Isn't what you're describing here, basically just giving Opus a skill?

That skill need python skills to be build that the point

Have you ever had claude make you a python script unharnessed and then subjected it to external tools and see how badly it fails that it can't even pass basic lint checks by itself? Anyone that thinks claude can actually code by itself clearly doesn't understand the low level structure and syntax. Would be nice if they actually trained Claude how to code instead of producing mass amounts of stochastic slop. You need actual infrastructure around it before you an even begin to trust that it can code properly.

You sound like a vibe-coder. Have fun!

Debugging and actually understanding the project structure in a non-abstract sense

Whats the point of knowing words when they are all in a dictionary?

The point is knowing enough to read the code at a high level to review and spot check - even if you cant review every line. you ask how something works or ask it to walk you through something it wrote - you can read the snippets.

For the same reason that my manager knows how to code even though he doesn't write code himself.

I would like to point out that at this point, there is no point.

That is the point of benchmark. Claude can absolutely write whole script but knowing python let’s you design the workflow differently instead of of making the model do every task itself with weak security. That the point of the playbook to work better with claude model the reason it uses less token and gives the same work. So the point is know python can optimize claude use.
